it's rubbish, cannot setup as a wireless bridge, the configuration interface is terrible, signal is extremely weak for N standard (my G standard was stronger), and no dd-wrt

      Its also only $10…

while i totally agree with insular, specially considering for $20 odd you can get a baby tp link or for $50 odd you can get a tp link with GB switch and all the good things, both run *wrt……

lippa you make a very strong and compelling argument.

still, for $10 no matter what this has got to be classed as a bargain. +1 from me

        • Yet you didn't actually +1 the deal

        • acky unfortunately firefox sometimes wont let me vote… and plays other wonderful games with me (like not letting me reply to your comment so i had to reply to myself) :|

fixed now, thanks for playing along at home :D

edit: ill even give you a +1 once FF lets me again……

    • I recall the Linksys e1200 (or something) that was free after cash back, it was so crap I wish I had haggled with them to pay me to take it :(

It died after ~6months, I rejoiced.

yeah its basic and gets the job done if the job is web surfing and other easy going web activities. Sure its not going to be able to handle games and other things but for $10…..

Ive had mine for 2 years and still running fine, although its getting a little outdated for my families increasing wifi enabled products collection.

A lot of these guys have champagne tastes on a beer budget…

a lot of the others have cheap goonbag tastes on water fountain budgets

Lewisjam and Bondi Junc are nearest stock for the sydneysiders

  • How many times are they going to clear this model? I thought the idea behind a clearance sale was to get rid of all of your stock.

belkin products are rubbish anyway. i had one, lasted 3 days before the modem got fried. ive had a TPLink running for 6 years, and still havent had any issues. hell, not even heat issues that tend to kill modems.

    • How does Billion compare?

      • the shit

        • Agreed, Billion routers are in the top class of routers but don't have the associated price tag. Still abit too pricey for me but definitely what I'd get if I were to buy a good router.

      • i havent used it myself but some say billion are quite good. very configurable.

another brand ive used is asus (quite a strong one that is) - ive got one 7 years and still kicking.

      • i use billion. it is quite good, but not cheap.

LOL, I remember when Billion were the cheapest ADSL hardware you could get…my how times change! ;)

        • just curious, when billion was the cheapest, did they make good hardware? or have they always made killer stuff and then woke up about charging more for it.

        • I had one of the very first billion modem/routers and feature wise it was incredible value for money but it did die after about 12months . I sent it back and had a brand new model within the week . TPLink are the best value IMHO now but I would buy Billion over TPLink if price/performance were equal .
I wouldn't touch Belkin with a barge pole at any price . I've owned 2 over the years and were nothing but a pain in the A&^% . There is no worse brand IMHO .

        • Yep, they always had a pretty decent product…you know how it goes, supply & demand! ;)

        • fair enough. so they have a pretty solid history of producing quality stuff. in that case, i say its worth every penny they charge for because troubleshooting a dodgy modem is annoying as hell

        • To a certain extent, yes.

However, if you look down at cyssero's comment you'll see that they have had some issues with certain models, which I can confirm as correct IME…so as usual caveat emptor!

They have a lot of competitors out there making some good stuff for good prices, so as always google is your friend when it comes to tech purchases! ;)

      • I've had a couple 7401VGPv1 units die, but warranty has been good and I still stuck by them. Ended up with a 7301VGP which has been running well for 2 years.

My first modem, 10 years old this month, is a Billion BiPAC 711ce which I still use as a spare on occasion. Only ADSL1 but no fault of its own.

Great deal! The world's gone topsy-turvy when I can get a brand spanking new wireless N300 router for less than I paid for lunch today! :)

FWIW, I've got a mate with one of these…nil dramas in a year! Sure it's basic, but as noted it's only ten bucks!

    • I think it's gone topsy-turvy because lunches nowadays are way too expensive! Bring back my old $2 McDonald's deal!

      • Agreed. Subway are getting a bit carried away with themselves…by the time you get any decent footlong & bottle of water you've cracked the tenner even without the filthy cookie they always try to upsell now. I can remember when you actually got the trifecta cheaper than just the sub & drink. I used to then take the cookie back to the office for one of my colleagues…for some reason she likes soggy biscuits! :o

What's scary is that I could go to the local Thai restaurant & get a very nice sitdown lunch for under ten bucks, but it's guaranteed to be high in fat/salt/sugar. Subway might be price gouging bastards, but they kinda do have us over a barrel on healthy options! :(

I bought one full RRP price from jb hifi last year and it couldn't support more than 1 concurrent user. Was a weekend LAN party and end up whole day couldnt do anything. Went back and refund it to get my usual netgear.

Not worth the price or trouble from reading all the reviews.

none in Elizabeth store (SA), not worth me calling/driving further to get one tho.

    • Add to that none at Anzac Road or Keswick, I visited Anzac Road store the guy rang Keswick he said there maybe one in Elizabeth but I guess we can count that out now but there maybe one at Noarlunga
