ANZ Platinum Credit Card: $300 Cashback with $1,500 Spend in 3 Months, No First Year Annual Fee ($87 p.a. Thereafter)

2191

Pretty much 20% off for your next $1,500 of purchases. $6,000 minimum credit limit is the only barrier to entry, otherwise the criteria is pretty easy as you can spend the money any time in the first 3 months.

From the website:

"Eligible applicants must meet the spend criteria within 3 months of the date of approval. The date of approval of an application is the disclosure date specified in your Letter of Offer. Eligible purchases includes purchases made using your account but excludes specific purchases as set out in the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use (PDF). Excluded purchases include, for example, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balances transfers, premiums paid for ANZ credit card insurance, transactions for gambling or gaming purposes or reversed or refunded transactions and will not qualify. The $300 will generally be credited to your ANZ Credit Card Account within 3 months of meeting the spend criteria. The $300 credit will be applied to the purchases balance and does not constitute a payment under your Credit Card Contract with ANZ. You will not be eligible for $300 back if your ANZ Credit Card Account is cancelled, suspended, transferred, or you are in default or breached the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use (PDF)."

Edit: some people have issues accessing the deal (i.e. clicking apply and the the website saying that the offer is no longer available). Some solutions have been to search for the card organically (not using the post link) or using a different browser or device.

Edit: The page is now 'down' for maintenance not just for this card but for their other cards too. I'll report again if I see the issue resolve.

Edit: it’s back online.

      • Thanks, I don’t see how they can just make up rules as they go though. If it’s not in their T&c’s I’m sure a complaint to AFCA would sort it out…

  • Opened on 23/04. Got the $300 cb on 3/5. Pretty smooth overall.

  • Spend met on 24/04, still waiting for cashback to drop

    • Same here.

      • Got mine too, thanks OP!

    • Got the cashback on 17/05

  • Does anyone know where you can find info on what "eligible" purchases are and what aren't?

Like paying for motor insurance or using After Pay considered "eligible"?

    • In their T&Cs.

Click on the ANZ link above, scroll all the way to near the end, under the "Important information", you'll see it there in the linked pdf.

    • Both of those are considered eligible in my experience.

  • I checked anz low rate credit card terms at the bottom and there's no mentioning of "doesnt hold anz platinum credit card in the last 12 months" sort of term. Does it mean that I can get that bonus as well? ( I closed anz platinum in April)

  • Applied yesterday and got approved this afternoon. Didn’t even have to really provide all the docs they supposedly required, only the keys ones like payslips.

I got my $300 today. Thanks OP.

    • How long did it take to get the $300 after approval? After you purchased $1500+ on credit did you need to pay off the card?

Got the $300 bonus. Thanks OP.

    • Approved 18APR24, met the spend within days.
    • First statement 05MAY24 (balance paid off after the statement issued)
    • $300 cash paid 17MAY24

    existing ANZ customer.

  • Can I apply for this and the ANZ Qantas 75k points and qualify for both?

  • their registration process is so annoying, why dont they just send out the crn in a text/letter/email instead of making you call

    • Because they know millennials hate talking on the phone.

i was denied the card a couple of weeks after applying. ive been an ANZ customer for 15 years and i have a savings account with them i rarely touch.

I'm more annoyed that they had to call me while i was at work, ask me when the best time would be to call me back, ignore my preference, and call me at the same time, then deny me anyway. they couldn't tell me why i was denied, only that their "calculations" meant i couldnt have this card.

  • I have CBA card with 4.5k limit. will that reduce my chances?

    • Short answer: yes.

Long answer : they will verify, with your current income and spending, that you can service both the CBA card and this one.

    Approved 21 May
    Spending Met 2 June
    Statement Received 9 June
Still awaiting for the $300 bonus

    • Any update?

  • +3

Received Cashback on 21st June, paid off and closed my account in 24th June

  • This is an awesome deal that I think everyone should capitalise on. The spend limit is low AND no annual fee.

  • Have applied today, hopefully won't have issues with approval like others did. Was needing to buy a laptop soon so will hopefully be able to just open > buy > close asap.

    • Update: Have been approved but was told that I must physically go into a branch to verify my ID before they can activate the account, which is annoying in this day and age, considering I've never needed to do so for any other bank account or credit card I've opened.

      • Update:

Met spend criteria on 29 July. Have paid off the balance minus 300.

        Statement received 12 August.

        Still waiting for cashback

        • Final update:

          Cashback received 13 August.

    • Applied on 5th June in the arvo, got a call from someone that night around 7pm (most likely offshore team) who basically went through the numbers I’ve put in the application earlier and then was approved within an hour after the call
    • Met spending criteria on 19th June (not factoring in few days extra for the transactions to settle)
    • Was issued first statement on the 19th June too and paid it
    • Received the $300 credit on 16th July
  • Having read through the comments, it looks like you are pretty experienced churning @dealstacker.

Just looking at getting into it myself and curious whether you find these cashback ones make it difficult to get points because you have had a card with the bank so aren't eligible for the point bonuses? Or are they generally separate eligibility criteria? As in it's only Qantas cards they make you ineligible for Qantas cards.

    • +1

ANZ has a separate exclusion period for the Qantas cards, the ANZ rewards cards, and their other cards like this one.

    • +1

Yeah the key is in the exclusion criteria in the footnotes of the offer page. As others have replied to you, ANZ Rewards, Qantas and others like this do not affect each other’s exclusion periods. I have actually just received the points for both the ANZ Rewards and Qantas Black concurrently, plus the platinum in this post a few months ago.

EDIT: that said, each issuer has their own rules. AMEX for example won’t give bonuses to anyone who has had any of their cards in the last 18 months.

  • any self-employed application experience?

    • Yes, they wanted my full previous year's tax return which was a 16 page document, notice of assessment, business and personal expenses. Savings and assets dont mean sheet to them and it was 2 weeks of back and forward. They were really slow to respond to anything.

  • This is a no rewards card. Is there something I’m missing why this is a good card apart from the signup bonus?

    • You're not missing something, only the $300 signup bonus. Definitely pump and dump this card as soon as the bonus is credited, ANZ is a terrible bank, I cannot recommend them.

  • I was wondering wether paying rates and water bills would count toward the $1,500 spending requirement?!

Just got the $300, happy days :)
