  • i think the $76 one might be the Amazon Warehouse one

    • 100%

    • $76.32 sold by Warehouse, $76.96 sold by Shop4Fun.

I was keen to get one but found they don't work with Android. Which was unexpected, having owned many 8bitdo devices I assumed it would.

Will stick with the Pro 2 which is great. It doesn't wake Switch from sleep mode like the Ultimate can, but that's much less of a deal breaker.

    • +2

Doesn't seem to have XInput over Bluetooth at all. Good value controller w/ HE joysticks but that is a significant limitation.

    • Same here. I returned the ultimate and keeping my pro2. I rarely play switch anyway.

can anyone comment on how this compares to the xbox controller? the dock seems helpful and i hear good things abt the joysticks on these but the ergonomics look a little wonky.

also, bt vs 2.4ghz for exclusively pc use?

    • +1

It's ergonomically not quite up there with the Xbox controller but I find it comfortable to use.

    • +2

For mine its virtually identical to the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller in terms of feel/comfort level while holding it.

Keep in mind that everyone is different. I loved the 360 controller but the xbox one + later series s/x versions took time to adjust to. Likewise the Sony dual shock 3/4 were great for me…. but the dual sense is not the most comfortable to hold and I don't feel as "in control" playing certain games (that I own on multiple platforms) on it compared to other systems.

Have a ultimate 2.4ghz & a ultimate BT, both hall effect models - the ultimate BT's Nintendo button layout was just too frustrating for PC use because even when the button letters display accurately if there's a diagram in menus it's never quite right and although my brain can work around it I noticed my missus really couldn't adapt. Was going to get Xbox layout buttons for it but then they added the purple hall effect 2.4ghz to three line up so bought that instead from Ali express and it's great.

    • i'm always a bit sceptical when it comes to electronics on aliexpress. is aliexpress trustworthy for this type of goods?

      • In my experience most items are OK. The failure rate for me is less than at Harvey Norman but your mileage may vary. Recently I've found their returns refund service works well as long as you get on to them quickly.

        • right okay. i'm not sure how else you could go about verifying its authenticity other than just looking for visual defects, but i am assuming based on your experience the products at least look genuine?
EDIT: i guess a better way to rephrase this question would be to say whether you've ever received a knock off before?

          • @coldazure: Yes there are some fkes but don't worry no one bother to fake cheap items like this 8bitdo they are not like Rolex.

            • @CyberMurning: It's not really about the price and more about the profit. they might be able to ship more cheaper items that have a low cost to manufacture, which is why you see a crapload of MIKE and ADIBAS tshirts and shoes in China. I'm inclined to think anything coming from China, particularly ones at a good price, has a chance of being a knock off.

Not saying the 8bitdo ones are necessarily, but the product being relatively cheap as compared to a Rolex isn't a good reason to assume they'll be genuine.

              • @coldazure: yes agree knock off but as you say they will list their item as NIKO not NIKE. or, this is my own experience, once i bought something, seller blacked out the brand and didnt say any name on listing. and when i got it, it is actually genuine YONEX product! confused? not really. remember almost everything are made in china. say NIKE put order to make 1million of X shoes. the factory may get naughty and make 1mil plus 10k units, and later the 10k units sold locally with agreement dont advertise the brand name otherwise NIKE know someone is leaking their product illegally.

dont worry i can see you dont buy much from ali but just ask @clear and others as long you know what you are buying they are okay.
with those 8bitdo i am 99.99% sure they are not fake

I’ve read that the bumpers feel very crappy. Shame, because otherwise looks like a great controller.

    • +1

Just received mine and it is absolute crap. I have no idea how people can say this is better than the Switch Pro. Reasons noticed in 5 minutes of use:
      - bumper buttons get in the way. You're always holding that area and the slightest force presses them, whether they're in use or not.
      - d pad is shockingly loose and feels 5 times worse than the Pro.
      - all buttons are very loud - about 5-6 times louder than the Pro.
      - feels twice as heavy as the Pro
