Anyone received a brand new item when it is advertised as refurbished ?

    • +1

Won't they all look like new?

      • +1

Mine came in a refurb box - definitely not new

    • Took a chance on the WH-1000XM4 and they came brand new. Box sealed and all original packaging.

      • I'd assume they service (clean) and repack them.

People considering this should have a close look at the Galaxy Buds FE - I grabbed some for $99 recently and they are surprisingly good. I have Sony WH-1000XM3 over ear headphones and I find myself taking the Samsungs out and about because the sound is close enough and the portability and comfort is excellent.

App only available for Android, no BT multipoint, worse ANC = no go.

      • +1

Anc is actually better on samsung fe imo. It seals better due to design

        • -1

That's passive noise cancelling, not Active.
In fairness, I was using the more premium Galaxy Pro 2s for reference on ANC, as there is little on the FEs performance available on this lower level model.
All I could find were a couple of YouTube videos that said the FEs ANC was pretty average.

          • +1

@snuke: I have XM4s, airpod pros, and many other premium and budget brands (soundpeats, jabras, soundcore Tozo etc).

One thing you learn is that price does not equal quality in all aspects.

I would steer away in this day and age from the thought that expensive means better. It doesn't hurt, for sure, but there are a lot of brands now that are cheap that will nail a niche market or spec, and still be above average in most key areas to give a pretty comprehensive package.

            FIT
            SOUND QUALITY
            BATTERY LIFE
            ANC

Above is an example list if things that are usually important for me.

Samsung FE have probably the best fit of any of the many, many buds I own. Decent battery and ANC. SQ is average but great combo for the money. Better $/value than the XM5 or buds pro2.

I love audio and wireless buds, so I'm happy to pay a bit more and listen to different buds that offer something more, but try enough of them and you'll be surprised by some of the offerings.
            Examples:
Soundpeats H1/H2 (SQ), T2 (ANC+battery), Jabra 7 elite pro (multipoint and actual buttons), soundcore A40 and earfun pro 3 (all rounder).

I also found that for my ears, XM4s for example didn't have ANC as good as airpod pros, and I have cheaper buds that are better at ANC than both the above.

I agree, and I didn't make a comment to suggest that, expect maybe that I referenced their higher level buds as not the best ANC in the tests that have been done.

Samsung FE have probably the best fit of any of the many, many buds I own

I am sure you agree, fit is always very personal, so what may be great for me, may be average to crap for you and vice versa.

              Decent battery and ANC.

Decent ANC isn't going to cut it for me, it must be top tier. We all have different points on what is a priority, and for me ANC is right at the top.

but try enough of them and you'll be surprised by some of the offerings.

Thanks for your feedback, but no, their lack of multipoint makes them non-viable for me regardless of anything else.

I also found that for my ears, XM4s for example didn't have ANC as good as airpod pros,

This goes back to that personal fit thing, but what you're describing is the Passive part of the noise cancelling. It is a major factor in effectiveness for sure, in buds more so than over ears.
I have Apple everything personally, but not for work, and therefore the Pros are not an option. Like these Samsung's, Apple's dual device connectivity is limited to their own eco system, and I need BT Multi point to work across different eco systems.

          • @snuke: ANC is good, to the point where it's quite dangerously effective if you're walking near traffic. Not noticeably worse than my over-ear XM3s.

      • App not really needed, 2/5ths the cost, ANC good enough, why would you need bluetooth multipoint for normal use = yes go.

        • -2

ANC being "good enough" is not good enough for me. I use BT multipoint every single work day, so yes, that is normal use for me.
It's fantastic they are right for you, but that doesn't make them right for everybody. That is why we have choices.

          • @snuke: That's probably why I merely suggested that people look at these as an option rather than claiming they are right for everyone.

You sound like you've gone down the headphone rabbit hole which is your choice, but for most users IMHO the FEs are at a killer price/performance point. I say that as someone who dislikes the term audiophile because of its baggage but has a house full of hifi gear and has built my own speakers.

  • Augh. So very tempting.
Already have one pair and they sound amazing ><

+70.00 to get a new set though ><

  • I picked these up new on sale recently; sound quality and ear feel is good; no noticeable fatigue. I dont find the ANC super effective at rest; although with music playing the background noise in i.e. an office is not noticeable. I use these as my daily buds to replace the pixel buds; but would still use full over ear earphones if ANC is your biggest priority.

What you want in ANC will have some changes to this. I have the WH & WF XM3s, and the WF XM4s. For Air Travel, the WH-XM3s are the go, when I am on my lawn mower I actually find the WF-XM4s to be far better, it was quite a shock.

  • OOS !

    • Appears to be back in stock if you want a pair.

  • +1

I personally found these impossible to get comfy in my ear. Weird as shape….

  • Earwax removed one hopes!

  • +1

I got a pair last time. Came in a refurb box and not a sealed new box unfortunately. But the headphones themselves seem fine and in as new condition. Great headphones and more comfortable than my wf3.

  • Mine looked new but bluetooth name was the previous owner, right ear statics like crazy on startup and anc is broken. That 2 out 3 high end sony products purchased from this seller with serious issues.

  • I have ordered one. I am wondering if you can see any scratches on the unit because it is a refurbished one. If it looks like a brand-new item, the price is pretty good.
