  • over 3 times the price good? I dunno..

it does come with /have a internal battery though. but you also cant swap it out or change it easily when it wont charge.. (requires full teardown)

not an expert but I think people overpay and get these for the hall effect joysticks and adjustable trigger depth. I dont have any issue with the one in the other deal though.

    • Why not just go core?

      • yea that's what I mean.

I have the elite series 2 and the best things for me are the paddles - so you don’t have to leave the thumbsticks and the trigger locks - which are snappy and feel good to use when firing. The worst thing about it is the durability. I’ve exchanged mine three times in the last year. The charging dock is nice to have but not essential. Is it worth three times a regular controller? Probably not but conditionally recommended for the those who game a lot and can stomach many returns in two years.

The elite doesn’t have hall effect joysticks.

Yeah. Hall effect sticks and a durable elite controller would be my dream. However, given that MS failed to deliver a durable product on the second iteration, I have no faith that they will deliver on the third.

      • what! why is it so expensive then?

        • I guess because people are willing to pay that amount. It’s still a pretty good controller. I wish it had hall effect though. It’s weird my cheap little retro handheld device has them but the Elite doesn’t.

Great feature-packed controller to use with many options to customise.
My only complaint is the poor QC of the buttons: My left bumper button registering double presses and the ‘A’ button only registering half the time and this is with minimal usage.

    • I got mine fixed under warranty for dodgy bumpers, no issues since. also came back with new grips.
I now use the paddles for bumpers and stick presses, so bumpers are barely used.

Even with the quality issues, I could never go back, such a good controller.

  • This is a good price for full set up given the core (just the elite body, no joysticks etc) retails for about 188

  • I like this controller, but I don't think this is a good deal, I'm using one I got 2nd hand, it has a couple of issues.

The left/right trigger adjustment sliders are a small notch covered in rubber, the rubber isn't secured so it falls off easily and it's tiny so easy to lose.

The left and right bumpers, the right for me especially, doesn't always register, feels like it wasn't designed quite right

The D-pad is fine, but it's not as good as the regular Xbox controller, not as clicky and it's flatter.

The ABXY buttons are very hard to see when not coloured in

The battery is not easily user replaceable, though the life of it is decent.

Wouldn't recommend, it's better than the first iteration but am hoping to see an update from Microsoft that addresses a number of issues.
