  • Is it Free ?

    • I hope so. Best oil deal I’ve got so far is that Castrol $2 price error from a few years ago.

      Edit - it’s $49

      • me too..

      • Ohh cool

  • Price in the title OP

Doesn't this regularly get dropped to low $40? I guess if you need it then it could be an okay price.

But stock up when it's cheaper. It's not like they go bad, it's synthetic after all.

It wasnt long ago it went to $35 but Repco and Supercheap have been gouging customers like the supermarket chains. The special 50% off soon rose to $42 and now a few months later is $49.

    • I wonder how much difference there is between all these different brands?

The only oil that would be better is if it was something like a Shell Helix Ultra. But really, more frequent oil changes for normal cars is more important than going for a specific brands. If the oil meets the spec for your car, that is all that matters for me. So far so good using Nulon and GW. I've not used Castrol Edge for years.

Agreed, the API Specs are more important, I am surprised to see the Aussie brands like Nulon / Gulf Western / Penrite meeting API SP (their 5w-30).

I now only stick to Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 due to its HTHS / NOACK volatility and proven good outcomes (people in US send their used oil for lab testing, prove it is the best for Euro performance cars). Other non turbo NA Japanese commute cars, simply use what meets the minimum spec, more regular oil change, can't go wrong.

  • Miss the days when this was under 35 bucks.
