i bought the bellroy lite duffel last night which is smaller and more practical. The white one is also 40% off (I bought a black one with 30% off)

    • I’ve had the lite duffel for a few months and love it, but at this price I think I’d take the weekender.

which is smaller and more practical

Not if you have more to put in it

      • -4

only if you know what practical means.

        • +8

How about being able to carry the things you need without needing a second bag. That would be very practical

Having a bag that's too small for what you need to carry is not practical.

          • @spaceflight: Larger duffels are not practical, they get too heavy to carry by hand or even off the shoulder. If you need to pack that much stuff you're better off with a small, carry on suitcase with wheels.

            • -1

@WatchSnob: Sounds like you need to hit the gym.

Not practical because they are heavy is dependant on what you are putting in the bag and how strong you are.

Small duffel bags are also not practical when carrying something heavy like lead.

It's not the bag its what you put in it (and how strong you are)

For some reason this brand always get upvoted on Ozbargain. Weird

    • +26

Well-made, good-looking products with an emphasis on functionality + they’re an Australian brand, what’s not to love

      • +1

agreed, great product and amazing customer service.
I had a wallet which broken after 1 year, no question asked, they send me a new one.

    • +6

I’ve travelled with Bellroy products all over the world and they’ve never let me down. They’re good quality and well made.

    • +4

You are weird for thinking it’s weird. Great build as others have mentioned.

      • Some people think paying for quality is weird

    • +2

try loading up a 115L duffel and see how you go lol

very different products with different intents

6000 reviews and most seem positive- not sure how something more than $100 expensive with much less capacity is so much better

    • That hardly compares to the bellroy.

    • +12

Yeah, Vomgomfom has been my go to for years 😂

  • Looks good
Maybe time I finally retire my 20 year old OG country road duffel

      its_A_trap

    • Never. This is nothing compared to your CR bag.

  • +3

Cheers OP, almost $10 off with CR too I believe.

  • Looks hot, if I was a high roller I’d be on this

  • +1

Are these in any way worth this, or is it only worth it if you value the fashion aspect of it?

    • +2

I have a handful of Bellroy bags, and wallets. Have been pretty happy with them over the years. Yet to have something fail on me.

Thoughts on the Tokyo work bag? Reddit doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of it in terms of price to quallity

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Bellroy-Tokyo-Work-laptop-messenge…

    • There are a couple of reviews around, sounds like it's a good bag but there's a couple of odd quirks. I was looking at them at one point but gave it a miss.

    • I use the tokyo totebag for work and its fantastic. Only quirk id say is it feels quite narrow? But still comfortably fits a larger laptop.

      • That's a different bag to the link

    • Whats so Tokyo about a messenger bag…looks just like every other one except highly marked up. Bellroy should just stick to making wallets.

    • Check out Tom Bihn bags.

    • I have this, but I got it as a gift. It's not bad, however I'd rather the Tokyo Totepack (the Work Bag has a luggage passthrough unlike the Totepack)

  • +8

not the best colour for travel - no wonder it's marked down instead of the darker colourways.

  • +3

Would expect it to be made of suede or something for that RRP. It's polyester.

    • +1

Might be for the best TBH.

I've got some of their laptop sleeve and backpack made from fabric.

The colours and pattern looks nice and all (similar to this), but the fabric holds into dust so easily and gets dirty and dusty (dusty makes it look really worn out and faded) easily. There's also the benefit of being water resistant

I haven't bought anything else since from them, because a bit disappointed with those stuff. Bought into their stuff in the first place because I have their wallet and tech bag which were quite nice.

I personally don't expect leather at this price, maybe fake leather

      • Yeah I noticed the same thing with this kind of fabric. It's a little porous like a sack, attracts dust just sitting on top of my wardrobe.

  • Thanks OP. I have been looking for a new duffel bag and think the 40L navy blue duffel seems better value for 20 bucks more.

Seems to be a bit roomier and easy to pack (zips right down) and had a water resistant stuff sack included in it. Not to mention the darker colour for travel wear!

There's a 55L version of it too but that might be too big!

I’m more of a Cooee Canvas Kapooka, and Overnight bag person. The Overnight bag is currently on sale, $50 down from $80.

    • Isn't their reputation trashed after multiple screwed orders and unfulfilled promises?

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/790575

    • Great point, I reckon I'll get the Cooee overnight bag. It has similar dimensions to this bag. It's been $40 before but still seems like a great price for the high quality everyone talks about. I see @abadacus post below, hopefully those orders got sorted in the end.

  • Can I carry this on weekdays?

    • Only if it's your weekend and for less than 2 days

  • Pretty sure CR has 15% off this item now too. Just ordered, will confirm tracking tomorrow. Thanks OP, needed a new bag

  • No shoulder strap, just carry handles? Odd choice

    • +1

There is a shoulder strap, check on their website

      • ah, nice

  • There's a bunch of good Belroy deals. I grabbed the 55l Venture Duffel for $199 down from $329.

    Thanks OP

  • it just disappeared, damn

  • This can now be tagged as expired.

    • Still showing $159 for me.

      • It’s come back in stock. The colour way wasn’t listed for a while

        • Yes it's back but when I looked earlier this morning, it wasn't showing. Thanks

          • @mad12: Looks like its gone again*
            …Nevermind its back again
