  • Are these really worth it for this price? At this price id just get a dyson and do it myself
Surely that will clean better than this

At this price id just ….. do it myself

I think you've missed the point of a smart vac

    • Dyson is risking becoming irrelevant. They still doesn't have a robot vacuum that mops.

    • I bought the roborock s8 pro the other weak and it is 100% worth it.

    • +1

There are definitely worth it. I am using ECOVACS Deebot X1 Turbo (purchased via Amazon link below) since last year.

      https://amzn.asia/d/1rgVa1D

Never had to manually vacuum or mop our floors. It has two rotating mops, which do the job much better compared to moping pad. Plus it washes and dries the mops automatically, which means you don't have to change or wash the moping pads. Mapping issues which were there in some of the earlier models have also seems to be ironed out as I haven't faced any issues since I first did the mapping. Overall pretty happy with my purchase.

      • How does this go with mapping? I have an ECOVACS Neo/T8. If it gets stuck and can't return to charge, every 1 out of 4 times it will completely lose the house map, and not recover once I put it on charge. A total PITA to remap everything.

        • I have been using for almost a year now, and never faced any mapping issues.

          • @OZBsince2018: My first foray into this world is a lubluelu - ridiculously good for the price, but now I've had a taste, i want….more :)

the lubluelu gets crazy confused (and starts editing the room map) when the family room blinds are open, due to ceiling-to-floor glass. So i have to make sure blinds are closed before sending the vac there.

Do you know how the ecovacs would handle that?

            • @andresampras: Yeah, mine does ok with Windows, unless the sun is shining direct onto the vacuum, then it thinks its a wall. Must be something to do with the Radar

            • @andresampras: When you do the mapping, just close the blinds/curtains and mapping should be fine. Alternately, do the mapping at night time when there is no day/sunlight

              • @OZBsince2018: yeah unfortunately with the lubluelu the mapping updates as needed every time it turns on….afaik.

so if the blinds happen to be open, it'll create new semi-rooms in the backyard - i then have to go into settings and restore map from saved options.

        • I have had worse experiences with the X1 Plus than the T8. Stick with the T8.

    • +1

I have both. I always tend to use the deebot for a great thorough clean. Plus it mops your floor and the Dyson doesn't!!! The deebot is surprisingly good. I rarely use the Dyson now , only for a quick mess/dry spill/sandy mess. Every now and then when we go out, I just put my bar stools and dining chairs up and turn the deebot on. Come back home and it's sparkly clean.

      The comparison doesn't matchup mate.

      • Since you have real-world experience - what do you need to maintain manually on this machine and dock? and how often? Thanks

        • I have the T20 Omni, which is similar. Basically all you need to do is to refill the clean water tank and take out the dirty water tank, which is easy to do. This is pretty much all. Frequency wise depends on your cleaning mode (light standard or thorough) and cleaning area. I clean using standard mode and it mops the entire downstairs of my house (minus the toilet, laundry, garage, and patio) which is about 80m2 and I do the refilling basically per 1.5 mop. So for every 3 mops I do it twice. It's simple and easy takes about 2 minutes max so I've got no complaints.

        • I have an older t9plus which is less automated than this. I have make sure the tank is full with water. Every 2 months I have to change the dustbag. Every 3 months I have to cut through all the hair that gets entangled on the main brush. The mopping cloth I wash after every house clean and dry it. You don't have to but it just personal preference

For The x1 Omni , the water tank and dust bag maybe less frequent.

    • If you willing to vacum and mop everyday.. Then yes… Do it yourself better. But if you do that every month or 1/2 a year then this will do better job.

Not worth it, no way anything battery operated can compare to mains powered, anyone thinking otherwise hasnt a grasp on electricity

      • Maybe true if you're talking about handheld vacuum sticks where the air has to be sucked through a long and narrow tube, but these robots are operating at ground level and hence have plenty of suction.

        • -1

          Your dreaming

      • What mains power vacuum are you using?

      • I agree, but robot vacs are great for running a few times a week to supplement a proper weekly vacuum. They definitely don’t replace proper vacuum cleaners and I definitely won’t get rid of my Miele

    • I’ve got 2 Ecovacs. T8 and X1.
T8 is not bad with mapping. Not the best out there but not bad nonetheless.
X1 is the worst. The map doesn’t resemble the house floor plans, and it takes forever to return to the dock. It would just meanders through out the house (taking the longer route) rather than making a beeline to the docking station. Sometime it would get lost returning to charge.

Now got a Roborock S8. To me, this is the gold standard. It is night and day in the software.

    • These have been out for yonks now and if at this point people don't understand the need for one then don't get one.

You could also wash dishes yourself and beat your clothes over a rock / stomp them in the bath tub / wash them in a bucket.

  • This is a really good deal!

  • compared to the X2?

    • Half the price

  • If your home is setup for the robovacs where they can get access to every corner of the home. You'll still be vacuuming and mopping those nooks and crannies. But it does save time and reduce the amount of vacuuming required on a daily basis.

How’s this compared to Roborock Q Revo?

  • get a roborock if you can

    • Why? Surely you have more than just brand allegiance to put out a statement like that. Just any roborock? I already have one.

      • +3

their mapping and clean route and app just so much better
I got both ,Deebot is not as good

        • +3

@GuniGuGu leoleakey is right, ecovacs app is horrible. Cleaning performance has been great, but the app completely ruins the experience. For instance it often can't find its location, and wants to 'start a new map' each time - major annoyance. Also has a tendenacy to not show the 'empty dust bin' feature unless I exit and re-open the app a few times.

          • @Jono 777: 100% agree. Returned my Deebot because the app was so bad. Wouldn't load or extremely laggy. Mapping was all over the place

    • Which one would compare?

  • Can these go over room thresholds/dividers? Is there a maximum height?

    • 20mm I think it's the max height

  • How is the mopping feature compared to others?

  • Which one is better for carpets ? Can someone share the experience ?

    • Would also like to know performance on carpet.

    ecovacs is terrible

    • +2

      For those who downvoted me

      Constant mapping issues
      Expensive costs
      Poor after sales support
Avoidance is sub par, brush always tangled.

I have to physically dock the robot at least 5 times a week.

I had to send back the robot and auto empty station seperately twice.

      • +2

I agree with it. Their service is terrible. Hope you don't run into issues after buying it.

  • I picked one of these up on facebook market place for $400 its awesome ! The only feature thats missing is the auto lifting mop pads but apart from that its great 👍.

    • Do you physically have to remove the pads in order to vacuum over rugs?

      • yes it wont go over carpets if the pads are attached

      • Yeah unfortunately but the robot detects carpet and will not drive over them with the mop pads on, you can also send it to specific rooms if you want. The only problem for me is the bedroom is carpeted and the ensuit is tiled so i have to pick it up and place it in there. If i didnt get this ine so cheap i probably would have gotten the kogan lx18 pro ultra on ebay with a discount code for around $750 as that does everything this does plus the lifting mop pads !

Is the premium worth it over the Dreame D10s with auto dock?

    • My Dreame W10 stopped working after 2 years. It complained about right wheel being stuck although there was nothing around the wheel. I did bit research online and found out it was a common issue with many Dreame models. The worse thing is that unlike Xiaomi or Roborock, it is very hard to replace the wheel by myself due to bad design.

      • I hope you found a solution to that. My Dreame W10 just pass 14 months. Recently I encountered an issue that it wouldn't suck the water from freshwater tank. Luckily I was able to fix it. Now I really hope I can get at least 5 years out of it.

  • These are listed under Kitchen (which is still under home but a more specific category). So you might only get 10% cashback just be aware. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/718743#comment-12542734

Edit: But correct me if I am wrong if this actually tracked 15%.

    • My cashback has been tracked by Cashrewards. It's 15% for sure.

      • Thanks! How quickly did it track?

  • Tossing up between this or hoping the Roborock Q Revo comes down to a better price (ideally $1300)… I'd love peoples opinions on which is better!

    • +1

Roborock q revo is better, I believe. If you have mixed floor carpet and tiles, It lifts up arms while going on the carpet and cleans both together. I had bad experience with ecovacs, hard to clean the fixed sink under and Roborock's attachment comes out for easy clean. Ecovacs had issue , cleaning sink is full message keep coming even i clean up the same day , i had to return to Costco, their own back support never replied me.
