On sale is the 2023 version of the popular Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022 with quite a few changes. In terms of display the 11.2" OLED 120Hz panel is replaced with a larger 12.7" LCD display with a higher 144Hz refresh rate, while the 6GB RAM with the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T is replaced with 8GB RAM and the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 CPU. I personally don't think the loss of OLED for a larger screen is a big loss given the better CPU, GPU and RAM.

The other notable change is that this is running the Chinese ROM with Lenovo's ZUI themed Android. Since the global version uses the slower MediaTek Dimensity 7050 it's not possible to reflash this with a global ROM. Fortunately Google Play and Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD work perfectly fine on the Chinese ROM with ZUI.

Featuring ZUI 15 (Android 14), 12.7" 2944x1840 LCD display with 400nits brightness, HDR10 & Dolby Vision, 128GB UFS 3.1 storage with microSD support, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 10200mAh battery with 20W fast charging, 4 JBL Speakers with Dolby Atmos, 2 inbuilt mics, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, fingerprint reader, WiFi 6 ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, USB-C video out w/ 4K@60Hz and pogo pins for keyboard.

Same seller has the Global variant here for US$225.62 with the same coupon. It seems the MediaTek 7050 is worse than the 1300T in the 2022 variant unfortunately.

Been looking for a tablet, but just wondering what you'd miss out on with the Chinese ROM, given it has Google Play. Also, would this get any updates? I've become quite mindful of the security risks of vastly outdated Android devices (gave my aircon installer crap for installing a tablet controller with Android 12 that will never - ever - get updates. Had to put it on the guest network with all other IoT devices that I don't trust).

ZUI gets far more attention from Lenovo devs than the stock Android counterpart. I believe these get more updates and features.

      • Thanks, that sounds good. Presumably updates won't break Google integration? Is Google Play native to the ROM?

        • +6

There's two steps for Google Play with this since it's not allowed in China. Google services need to be enabled in settings and the Play Store installed from the Lenovo app store. Then it's good to go.

    • I have the 2022 version of the tablet with the Chinese ROM and haven't found any issues with Google integration yet other than Quick Share (formerly known as Nearby Share) not being available

    • Got one, everything works. I don't use it to watch Netflix and Amazon though. PC mode is pretty cool. I got a December update last month when I turned it on.

@Clear do you know if this is a legit seller and item for the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003844532181.html
I prefer the OLED screen as the main usage will be for media consumption and I will be flashing it as soon as it arrives to become a Tab 11 Pro Gen 2.

    Thanks in advance.

    • +2

I missed that one. The same crowd as MeMall I believe so if you reflash with Lenovo RSA it'll be the Tab 11 Pro Gen 2.

      • Thanks Clear.

Got any links for flashing it? I was looking at that model today but I'd wanna flash it with a custom rom, couldn't find anything on XDA, seems mod community don't like to put much effort into anything that isn't Qualcomm :_(

This looks great, but I'm unsure whether to get global or chinese rom with faster processor.

I think I'll mostly be using it to watch movies (netflix etc), sport (Kayo app) and web browsing. I rarely play games. I was originally planning to get the 2022 mediatek version with OLED tonight, but this looks better given larger screen size.

Any recommendations on which way to jump?

My Account > My Orders > Order Details > Download Invoice

Instead of an ABN they have their ATO reference number used by non-residents that are registered for GST.

        • play it smart, ship it to the other country you are going to.

            • @xwx: good luck.

or find one country that allow you to claim tax back, it's a long shot though.

PSA that the bitrate for Amazon Prime is max 1.82GB/hr
Its not UHD on this device. The Expanse for example is a blocky mess. Steaming the same episode on a LG TV is around 20GB/hr

On my samsung s22 this is the same, 1.82GB but the screen being way smaller sort of hides the issues.

Paying customers of amazon prime get a worse experience on mobile than the pirates. What a joke.

  • Is this the tab better than the tab A9 plus with 128gb 8gb ram?

    • Yes. The SD870 is nearly twice as good as the SD695 in benchmarks and the 12.7" display in this is much better too. Samsung would be better with updates plus local warranty.

  • Good tablet. Quite snappy and well priced.

However, very average battery life and for some reason, I can't get Nearby Share to work.

I'm not sure why, but I just bought one

Haven't had a tablet in ages and was looking to get one last few days.

How does this stack up to something in this price range like Lenovo Tab P11 2nd Gen + Pen that I saw yest and could've got for <275 yest?

What about something like OnePlus tab that's 650ish, is that worth the 2x price or better to get this?

How big of a difference is having China ROM, is it better to just get the slower Global version instead? Any limitations in getting playstore installed, using sims in Aus, NA or Europe for the tablet, if not what's the big deal?

  • Oos 😢

    • only the green is oos which is not on sale anyway.

  • How did I miss this…

    • Yep it mentions the Kompanio version.

Mine keeps running out of batteries fast. Its like it doesn't go to sleep and something is running in the background. Any ideas?

    • +1

Install a battery monitor app and grant it rights via adb so it can see all usages

      • I should add then use adb to uninstall it or freeze it

    • Reduce refresh rate.

  • Mine cant be powered on anymore after 14 months.
    Warranty was for 12 months.
Lenovo Aus will not give support or advise where I can fix it.
The risk for getting it cheaper through Aliexpress is not worth it.

  • I just bought this yesterday. Can someone pls tell if this can be updated to global rom to get original lenovo updates?

    • I did cover this in the deal. There is no global ROM, so it runs Lenovo's skinned version of Android and that receives updates just fine.

      • Thanks mate. Just wondering i saw some post on following some steps on lenovo website for rsa and we can change this to global rom. Could you pls help to clarify if those changes works for 11.7 inch 2022 model but not for this model?

        • +1

The 2022 tablet can be changed to global ROM because there's a global equivalent. There's no global equivalent of this on the same hardware.

          • @Clear: Thank you. I might need to rethink whether to return this back if doesnt work properly

  • The Pad has been received. I downloaded the Google Play Store from the Lenovo app store, but I couldn't sign in.

"Couldnt sign in. There was a problem communicating with Google servers. Try again later"

    • Activated google services through settings?

      • cannot sign in

      • I confirm that it is enabled.

    • I am unable to watch Netflix even after trying to log in through Edge browser. It shows error code E100.

    • I found the solution and the Play store is working

Uninstall any Google services installed from Lenovo App Store,
Go setting -> app ->Touch "three dots"(Top right of screen) -> Google Basic Service -> ON, turn it off then turn it on again
Then I was prompted to login directly.

  • I have received mine also from Aliexpress anniversary sales. Unfortunately, there are more dislikes than likes. Firstly, the seller said this is China ROM with only English & Chinese languages supported plus OTA updates. I'm sure I've been scammed into buying a global ROM (boot loader unlocked on boot up). I received it with Google Play pre-installed but found a few apps labelled and running in a totally different language (looks like Thai or Hindi). Can't uninstall them at all, can't change them to English. I can only disable one and the other I have to force stop. Also, wifi can only connect to 2.4G but not 5G. Lastly, no OTA update!!! When I go to Settings/About tablet, I should be able to click 'Software version' to bring up the system update but nothing happens! I've contacted seller and went through troubleshooting but can't fix it. This is a nightmare purchase! The seller has approved a return and refund. 👎👎👎

    • Got mine today, also Bootloader unlocked and Play Store pre-installed. Although all apps in English and 5GHz works fine, no OTA as well

    • Different countries use different channels on 5GHz. Maybe that ROM only sees those channels for the country it was made for.

  • Received mine 2 days before, and from the start the screen freezes frequently, seller approved a return
    anyone else experience the same?
