Unique voucher code PLUSB…
Tried price matching at JB Hifi and Teds but both wouldn't go near this price. Cheapest I’ve seen for the A7Cii

it is still just 7 months old camera
Maybe things have changed and I’m just wearing rose tinted glasses looking back on the old days of buying camera gear but other than ultra hype machines like x100 (now vi) I kind of remember seeing cameras (back in the day) stackable with eBay 15-20% off sales or storewide digidirect sales. Eg back in the day paid $1850 for an a7iii in 2019 (about a year after release in 2018)
I guess COVID changed the market
Also for any old Sony x members i logged in to check and on Sony website it says special Sony x offer:
$2,449.30 Via Sony au (must be logged in )
Voucher code PLUSB3GSCQPZ747M
That is a unique 5% off code for eligible items, not sure if all eBay Plus members get one
https://pages.ebay.com.au/buyer_coupons/2023/PLUSB1/
I have a plus code for 5% and it’s definitely different ending to yours
Sony have been sending unique coupons to registered emails for 10% off on their own website so it may be cheaper if you have already signed up. Silver A7CII is currently $2651 there too so it would bring it down to $2385.90 (targeted).
Does not work for newer models including a7c ii. Believe me I tried 🙁
My bad, didn't look at the fine print. Really should have though since there are so many restrictions these days for Sony!
Unfortunately in the T&C it is excluded as is the following:
All Sony PlayStation Products
All custom-made camera lenses
Camera lens SEL400F28GM
Camera lens SEL600F40GM
All Sony Creative Pro Products and associated accessories
Camera lens SEL1635GM2
Camera ILCE7CM2B, ILCE7CM2S, ILCE7CR
All 2023 new release cameras, lenses and accessories launched in or after August 2023
Microphone ECMW3, ECMW3S
Camera lens SEL300F28GM
Camera ILCE9M3B
Camera lens SEL2450G
Why does the a7 iv never seem to be on sale
Because they are so good. I am about to flip mine for an A7RV if they drop in price soon.
I just sold my A7iii (bought during covid times for $1850) and now looking to change systems.
Which make and model are you planning on switching to? Or do you intend to stay with Sony?
Not intending to stay with Sony. I am probably leaning more towards Panasonic S5II or S5IIx
Will sell the sony lenses etc
Can I ask what made you ditch the a7iii (other than being able to resell it for pretty much what you paid?)
@Jimothy Wongingtons: I prefer colors from Nikon more than Sony. I also watched a few more reviews for Panasonic as well and the colors seems to be very similar to Nikon. I had Sony for almost 3-4 years and had no issues what so ever, but I had to fight heaps to get colors right
@codename47: Interesting- I get what you mean about the Nikon colours i do miss my d600 and the sooc colours. Was pretty happy with a7iii when I was still shooting paid gigs around 2019 though.
@Jimothy Wongingtons: I feel you! I had D610 with 85mm 1.8, just shoot and post kind of output from it. I cannot say the same for A7iii with my 85mm 1.8
@codename47: yooooo yes
i am also super nostaglic about the 85, but even more so the 50mm f1.8d - so basic, but god it reminds me of the good times.
carefree times when i actually enjoyed photography.
when i actually was creative.
i was about 25kg lighter, much more hair.
when i was happy.
running a suss as hell copy of LR4
now:
a7iii, and 55 f1.8 just dont do it for me.
and have a full legit paid adobe subscription.
i just dont feel it anymore.
i thought actually an x100v6 (and actually i had a s5ii in my cart for a while instead too) might ignite my fire for photography again..
but really know it wont :')
@Jimothy Wongingtons: I still take a lot of photos of family and extended family but I know you grow out of that habit of always carrying your cameras. I keep checking FujiFilm cameras too but they seem to be way overpriced for what little extra they offer than a regular camera.
@codename47: it only took 13 years but finally an x100…with IBIS :)
now you grow out of that habit of always carrying your cameras.
i cannot believe i used to rock a d600, with battery grip, and a 35mm sigma 1.4 art on an ..rs7 strap im fairly sure it was.
and just take it everywhere. sometimes even had 2 x sb 600's and some flash triggers. the strobist era was a realllll slippery slope for me.
@Jimothy Wongingtons: Fuji Film are good for photography for sure.
I had Nikon D610 + SB600 +SB900 + 3 lenses in my carry bag and a big heavy tripod for long exposures…wouldn't do it now :p
Damn held value quite well
