Can also get it with the Ultra 5 125H for $300 cheaper if you select 32 GB memory

    • +1

wish i saw this before i pulled the trigger, but oh well.

edit: for those about to make my mistake, the 125H seems to represent far better value:

@Helenn for you ^ — I cant see any difference

      • +1

reach out to chat, they may help!

        • I was able to initiate cancellation and I've re-ordered the 125H… fingers crossed they proceed with the cancel and I don't end up with 2 laptops.

          Thank you Classo.

    • Can you explain this more please?

      • +1

The point is just to upgrade the RAM from 16GB to 32GB which would normally add 200 to the cost, but instead makes it qualify for the deal and brings the cost down to $15XX.

Make sure you remove the on-site servicing if you're not interested in it, it's an extra $17 automatically tacked on.

        • Did they remove the option to upgrade the Ram on the Ultra 5 125H? I can't see how to upgrade to 32GB?

    • Wow good find!
For the $300 the Ultra 7 155H seems to be ~11% faster than the Ultra 5 (sometimes less/more depending on app/game)
Also has 1 more Intel Arc iGPU core (8 vs 7)

Upgrade to 1tb SSD for extra $69

    • +5

      Nice

  • Not bad for value for specs

    • Will this be able to run capcut and edit 4k videos that go for around 15mins with lots of broll?

  • How would this compare to a m3 Mac air? (Albeit with less ram and storage)

    • +22

Macbook air will be better if you prefer MacOS

    • -1

If you don’t require Windows-specific software or do a lot of gaming and don’t mind macOS. MacBook Air M3 would be better performance wise.

Even for gaming, MacBook Air M3 would outperform assuming the game exists on both platforms (which would be the limitation with macOS). But if you look at Shadows of the Tomb Raider, I play that on my Mac Mini M2 Pro at 1440p high settings and I’m easily getting 30+ fps.

  • 5% credit back if you go through Amex Shop as well?

    • Is this confirmed?

  • drats, and i just bought a framework 13 (7840U) delivered for 1984 with 40 dollar ram and HDD that i already had

  • Can I buy in Lenovo NZ lol

  • Not a bad laptop

  • Arc 7 vs 780m is the question?

    • +2

Radeon, drivers are still better than Arc and the 780M works fine at 6400Mhz LPDDR5 without resorting to the higher power usage 7467MHz required for Arc to even get close

Intel 14th Gen tile architecture is still behind Zen 4 as well

      Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 R7-8845HS, 16GB DDR5, 512GB SSD, Radeon 780M, 16" 2.6K IPS 350nits 120Hz, 84Wh Bat $1269 Delivered @ Lenovo

With 16GB LPPDR5 worth $150, this Intel is $400+ overpriced and a bad deal

      • so better to wait for 14 inch AMD deal?

        • I don't think there will be an AMD 32gb ram deal this time around (at least not through Lenovo Au).

They don't offer any budget 32GB AMD, nor do those models have socketable ram….

          • @wwwsam: yeah what a prick, I might just have to buy this deal with 32gb

          • @wwwsam: You can get the Legion Slim 14 with a Ryzen CPU, NVIDIA 4060, 2.8k OLED, and 32GB RAM for not much more than this offer at just over $1900.

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/836414

          • @wwwsam: Yeah, such devices do exist but just aren't stocked in Australia for some reason. It's a bit frustrating, I was waiting for that model or similar to become available last year but it never did, so I ended up grabbing the zen 3 version.

ARC can be about 30/40%+ slower than 780m, due to needing the top DDR5 spec to even get close. The laptop will also need to run at a higher TDP, which reduces battery life compared to the 780m..Intel drivers are also subpar and there are plenty of issues with games, especially older titles. There is a video on YouTube which shows you in a side by side comparison how much better a 780m is compared to Arcm
      .

      • So just FWIW, my Ultra 7 Laptop arrived and I was curious how it benchmarked. 3dMark has a reasonable reputation re: making sure vendors don't do specific things to bias. I've compared the world's best 7840HS + 780m result to the world's best Ultra 7 155H Arc as well as the result I got.

Summary? Arc beats the 780m on many of these benchmarks. Does that mean drivers aren't an issue? I have no idea.

        CPU
        DX12
        DX11
        Vulkan
        Ray Tracing. LOL

I thought yoga meant their 2 in 1s, this is just a regular laptop

    • good point

    • Yeah sadly they butchered the yoga line. Before if it was a yoga model it was a laptop that converts to be a tablet.

      • So you could say they got stiff joints as they aged

  • Only issue with this laptop is that the webcam is pretty bad, especially for a relatively expensive laptop. Otherwise great laptop

    • +3

Lower resolution on webcam is better in some situations, such as when you want to watch porn during meetings but don't want others to catch the reflection on your glasses.

  • I got the Yoga 7i Pro (Gen 8) last year for almost $1,500 (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lenovo-yoga-7i-pro-evo-14…) and I think the newer version is of better value here.

For about $400 more, you get 3K touch screen, 14th Gen Intel CPU (i7 equivalent), extra 16GB RAM, and optional 512 SSD upgrade for an extra $69. To me it can’t go wrong.

My 6 month experience is that this is a super fast, EVO certified laptop. I would highly recommend !

    • Do you have the exact weight of Ur laptop?

      • I have not personally weighted it but official spec seems to say 1.49 kg. Hope this helps!

        • How is the battery life on the gen 8 and is the fan loud with any activity of work?

          • @dawl: I have always been charging it to preserve battery life. I feel the battery life is pretty solid, compared to my older laptop that isn’t EVO certified.

Couldn’t hear much noise from the fan given it’s an i7 and I mainly just watch YouTube videos/ no game.

My work laptop is a ThinkPad and it’s fan becomes really noisy after 2 years of use. Hopefully my Yoga won’t behave like this later lol

  • My old laptop is still working but this ticks all the boxes!

    • Buy it. Do its.

      • +2

Buy first think later - the ozbargain way

  • Just got 2 with Ultra 5, which seems to have better % discount. Thanks!

    • What do you mean

      • look at first comment

  • Can't decide between this or ideapad pro 5i -> https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-5/lenovo-ideapad-pro-5i-gen-9-(14-inch-intel)/83d2cto1wwau3

    • damm, you've created more confusion for me lol.

Seems to be battery vs touch

  • +1

Should I buy this or a ThinkPad E16 Gen 1 Intel or a ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 for business use.
    TIA. I am really confused.

    • Depends on what your business use is. Mine is mostly documents on the go (usually Excel/Word), Outlook and Zoom/Teams. My 4 year X1 i7 based device is still going strong. And keyboard is mint! If there's a weakness to my device its the trackpad, something I believe they have improved on the newer devices.

  • Would this laptop be able handle rendering videos on sony vegas

  • thinking about picking up the Yoga 7i 2-in-1 14"…

works out to be around $1.8k if i upgrade the screen to the 120hz OLED.

what are peoples thoughts on this?

  • Absolute rookie here with laptops, will this be good to use with capcut to edit some 4k videos for YouTube? Won't be doing much gaming. Maybe pubg
