Good price on this network switch if you're needing PoE to power some security cameras or wireless access points. This one features 8 gigabit PoE ports (30W max each port) and 2 gigabit uplink ports. The KeepLink switches in my experience have been really reliable for a low price.

Unfortunately there's no AU plug available, however it uses the standard IEC cable that everyone has. Now in stock.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive.

  • My 8 port tplink Poe switch hangs after few days and needs a power restart to function again… replaced one earlier due to same problem… is this common occurrence?

      • Every switch is made in China

@[Deactivated]: Most OzBargainers are Chinese. You're in the minority.

              • @[Deactivated]: For someone so anti-China your whole presence on this site is supporting.

                  • @[Deactivated]: Your house must be pretty empty if you don't trust electronics made in China.

                      • @[Deactivated]: Cool that's not this.

                            You couldn’t be more wrong

If you were smart you'd segregate your network. I personally have my Chinese made security cameras on a separated VLAN and there's no dialling home. The VLAN tag passes through this switch no problem.

Can you prove it or did you just assume?

I suggest you look at the OzBargain meetup pictures for each year. You'll notice the pattern.

The racists of OzBargain always have a good whinge every year when the photos are released.

                        security items

Unmanaged switches are not 'security items', you muppet. Firewalls or routers are 'security items.' How is a Layer 2 switch which has just enough intelligence to build… wait for it… a simple MAC address table… a security device? Here's a clue: You can't even put ACLs on them, so they're not.

Or are you also going to point at PoE injectors and call them 'security items,' you know, because they pass ethernet traffic?

Some seriously cringeworthy hole digging going on here. Hurry up and get your PhD in switches already.

A better rebuttal would be to explain why you think a switch isn’t considered a security item.

Come on, let's see you explain how an unmanaged switch - which is what this deal is for and what you are continually railing against - a 'security item?'

                          • @[Deactivated]:

A switch being unmanaged doesn’t make it less of a security item.

Then explain how it functions as a 'security item'. Prove it.

Does it allow ACLs- I mean, that is the very, very lowest bar that I can think of to provide any sort of 'security' on a network. Perhaps you can enlighten us.

If you don't want name calling then start talking sense. Making utterly basic errors in nomenclature does not help your argument.

You can't explain this at all.

At this point I suggest you do your own research as pointed out before

So, you really have no clue about networking, do you? You don't know what network security is, you think that a Masters degree is a PhD, and you probably think that 'research' is watching Tiktok clips.

                                  • @[Deactivated]: Ah, so you think that Google is research. As well as Tiktok.

Come on, explain it, I dares ya :D

Poor fella seems to have exhausted his daily neg quota on me. Maybe he can ask Google for more.

Thing is, I'm not even in networking, but know enough to be astounded at how wrong he is on… just about everything.

That's pretty unusual- switches are typically extremely reliable because they are such simple devices. Totally solid state, don't even need active cooling for small ones, really standardised and sparse components.

If you're having problems with the same model/brand, change to something else. Otherwise could it be an environmental problem- is it set up somewhere really hot or is is highly unreliable power (the second one is not likely unless you have lots of other things dying as well).

        • OK Bubbles it's time to put it on Ice & Cool.

  • I assum this switch has no VLAN supported?

    • You want a managed switch.
