    "Secret"

  • +1

Too bad it's not as good as the one during Christmas, especially the Watch 6.
Missed out on that one was hoping it would come back, but alas.

    • Just get from eBay many selling sealed for 300

      • I don't see many

    • +1

      How much was it?

      • +3

$158-260 for the 44mm. Mine only cost me $58 + cost of a band because Samsung didn't send me the band and gave me a $100 mastercard GC to compensate as they didn't have stock left.

        • So it's $48 profit for you?

          • +2

@bcYield: No, effective cost was $58 + cost of band after you factor in the $100 GC. Paid $158 originally.

  • +8

wish they do $500 trade in bonus again

  • +1

i believe newsletter is not available anymore.

  • Is the S23 Ultra better than the Google Pixel 7 Pro?

    • +6

Of course. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 made by TSMC is more power efficient than Google Tensor made by Samsung.

    • Depends, i wouldn't go for the 256gb model because of 8gb of ram. I have it and whenever i go to take a photo or something, all my music/media force closes because not enough ram. - 256gb s23 ultra

      • +5

That shouldn't happen? Stop having so many apps open in the background.

        • I don't know why it happens, it doesn't happen on my iphone 14 🤷‍♂️

          • @Quarter Pounder: iPhone are generally more efficient for memory than android.

It could also do with the camera shutter making noise to alert for perverts and pausing other audio.

            • @Caped Baldy: It doesn't just pause the audio, it force stops the media app.

            • +1

@Caped Baldy: some butt hurt person negged you for that comment about iphone being more efficient so i had to up vote, yes it is. deal with it

              • +1

@Roe Jogan: Thanks mate. I don't mind the neg votes but an explanation would be useful.

I'm an Android fan so I'm not biased, it's just a fact. My find x3 pro is running 12gb and still has the random app restarts.

                • +1

@Caped Baldy: i know, you are absolutely correct, even an iphone with 4gb ram is smoother than an android with 12gb ram, its no secret that android has bad ram management. dont try reasoning with fanboys

      • +3

Weird, this has never happened to me

      • +6

        That shouldn't be happening lol

      • +2

i'd perhaps look at doing a factory reset if it isn't too much drama, that 100% shouldn't be happening.

      • I'm not doubting you, but as someone who grew up with computers with KB of RAM the idea of a device with 8,000,000,000 bytes of RAM running out when taking a photo is amusing.

    • +1

If you don't mind the initial tussle between Samsung and Google apps as you get your phone set up, the Samsung phones are the best hardware of all phones, imo

    • -1

As a starting point of your research-> https://nanoreview.net/en/phone-compare/samsung-galaxy-s23-u…

May be S23 is good enough & bigger discount are coming…spoke too soon-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15080252/redir

Newsletter and loyalty codes are 99% BS in my experience. I think everyone on here that says they stack is just trying to wind everyone else up!

    Fold 5 under 1k please

    • I've been eying the one plus and oppo foldables but they're still not back in stock after the Nokia patent dispute got resolved.

      • What patent? Nokia has fold phones too?

        • Nah relates to 4g and 5g patents. The oppo foldable was sold here for like a month late last year and the latest flaships (x6 and x7 series) haven't come to Australia.

    • the fold is not worth 1K. protector for the main screen needs to be replaced yearly. The camera was not sharp. The hinge won't last more than 24 months. repair cost you 700+. You just paying for their Lab product.

      • My Fold 2 never had its protector replaced, camera was okay (did modify zoomed photos tho) and it lasted three years before the OUTER screen failed, not the foldable screen. The hinge is looser but still OK. Looking into a front screen replacement presently for $200. Am onto my Fold 5 now, its the same phone nearly and the camera issues seem fixed. Its really cool, playing with normal phones seems like they are designed for children now, im spoiled. I got both for around 2K after a sale/voucher etc. Def worth it if u have the money.

        • Good on you. my Fold 3 take photos of documents so blurry. that's why Samsung has brought the 'text' scan button to their Camera app lately. I've tried Fold 5 and S23 Plus and Ultra at the Samsung Experience Centre recently. the Fold5 is still blurry on text, the S23 Plus has the same setup so it's also blurry. the Ultra on the other hand was sharp and clear. so, my option is Ultra is better.

  • What is the hack again so that we can get the extra trade-in bonus without sending the actual item?

    • i said my device was excessively damaged (at/after checkout page) and it reduced the trade-in value to $1.00. Didn't send the device back and got charged a $30 no return fee. I hear it's now $60 now.

      • +1

Yup I didn't send my "Samsung gen 3 watch" (I didn't own) and got changed $60 back in sept

        • seems now they ask for the watch serial ID number. Did they ask this before?

          • @Taro Milk Tea: They did, I just typed random numbers haha

            • @starburstyellow: i see lol.

another dumb Q, did we have to fill up the details with our real information e.g name, addresses etc? I guess I can just put anything if I do not end up sending the item anyway right?

        • +1

          It's $30 upto a certain value and then $60.

          • @abs898: My trade in value was $1 for the watch and I certainly got charged $60.

            • @starburstyellow: Really? Never happened to me. I was guessing a trade-in value of over 100 charges 60.

I have done it almost 3 wiles buying the galaxy range, a couple of times with other items.

              • @abs898: Yeah man tell me bout it. I was hoping for the $30 but was surprised when I got the $60 charge. Was still happy though with the various double dip discount and dad was super happy with the S23 Ultra.

        • My fee was $30 when I "traded in" a phone for the S24 Ultra a few weeks ago. Said the device had a cracked screen and it was worth $1.

          • @Charles89: Lucky you. I got the $60 :(

            • @starburstyellow: Same
Samsung charged me 60 dollars on a iphone 7 valued at 10. I have been trying to chase up missing parts of my order for over 45 days. Still nothing but promises and hangups and a 60 dollar late fee for delays they (samsung) have caused. Worst experience ever.

      • do you have to select everything ok except the part where the screen is cracked?

      • I got charged $60 for a non-return $10 Galaxy S8, but someone messaged me that they only got charged $30 for a $1 "broken screen" return. So maybe they just adjusted the threshold

      • I am planning to buy watch 6 max trade in is 165 so if I apply this I should be charged 60 and reduce price by 105?

        • There is no trade in bonus on the watch

          • @snvl: Yes but 165 is trade in for watch 5
can I use that I am assuming I will be charged 60 if I don't send it

            • +1

@ady211: No, there is benefit when there is a trade bonus.

Otherwise you given $60 for nothing

Edit: you get $165 trade discount but you pay $165 to asurion. If you don’t send it you don’t get the $165 back but you get charged $60

  • +1

I selected Trade-in Pixel 6A and getting $856.85 for Ultra S23 256GB. Is this correct? Sounds like a pretty good deal.

    • +1

      Yes, it's correct.

$1266.85 less $250 trade in bonus less $160 device trade in = $856.85.

      • I haven't been keeping up with the prices lately, but that seems like a pretty good deal and a good upgrade from the Pixel 6A right?

        • +1

          It's an outrageous upgrade!

My favourite phone ever, though it is large, and it is very slippery so get a case and a screen protector or you'll become very sad

  • Galaxy watches which are working but with a broken glass seem completely useless..the glass itself costs almost equal to the watch value and you can't even trade it in.. unless you want to get the trade in bonus which again are not applicable on watches :(

  • +2

~$700 for Tab S9 seems tempting

    • +1

But what to trade-in? There will be $60 fee making it close to $800.

      • Can you explain this? I've made a purchase for the s9 tab, and am trading in my old galaxy S8 phone, valued at $10. My understanding is that if I don't return the phone, or if I return it an it's 'misgraded' (e.g. damaged), then whilst they will charge me a fee in either case, but this is simply deducted from the 10 dollars they charged me at purchase. In other words, at most I can lose the the 10 dollars. Does this sound right?

        • Here from the comment above. I assume they'd charge you $30-$60 + $10 later.

  • Can I assume that the watch 'face only' still comes with a charge cable? Or does that have to be purchased separately too?

    • +2

The face by itself comes with charging cable, just no strap.

      • Cheers, thanks mate!

  • S23 Ultra or S24 Plus?

    • Definitely S23U because S24+ is using Exynos CPU.

      • +1

But exynos in s24 series is good now! However s23 ultra still awesome for spen, zoom and giant screen!

        • +2

Not really, battery life on Exy still falls short. Several YT videos on this, Exy and SD side by side comparison, the Exy phone died while SD still had 18% battery left: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dN3pWkDghPg

Can't help but feel gypped buying an Exy phone as an Australian consumer :\ Same price for an inferior product

  • do samsung watches work with iphones?

  • 4Tb 990 Pro for $489 looks OK

  • I wished the s9 Fe was on sale.

  • +2

    2Tb 990 pro 230 aud.

    • Got one!

    • Is that a good price?

I was looking for someone to mention that. I'm keen on buying a new pc, so looking for parts.

      • Yep, that is a pretty good price for a 2TB 990 Pro. I have been looking lately for a 2TB and this is pretty good for 990 Pro which usually costs a bit more than other brands.

    • Seems to be a good price for Aus stock. Last deal from Amazon US was only about $175 though right? Been wanting one as a games drive.

  • +4

The S23 ultra is the greatest phone I've ever owned.

Lifelong Apple guy, and had every iPhone since the iPhone 3G other than the 8.

  • +1

I didnt want the beige version of the S9 tablet but with the discount only applying to the beige version i got over it pretty quickly. Also stacked with cash rewards 2.8% and the Amex $100 off $500 spend.

Hoping to claim TRS refund on GST also if invoice meets their criteria.

    • Arrived in 48 hours from order

  • I haven't paid much for a smart watch in the last three years. Samsung always does free gifts when you pre order a new phone and usually it's a watch. Watch 5,6 and now 6 classic. It's most economical to do it that way.

    • I still wait for mine since 18th January preorder of S24U…

      • Depends on what you listed. I had 2 orders, classic 43 and 47. 43 has been delivered already

      • Same, still waiting on the classic 47 lte

  • +5

Thx OP bit the bullet on S23 Ultra 512 (RRP $2249)

    (Upgrading from S22+ 256)

Paid only $881.85 after 35% off + $330 trade in + $250 trade in bonus. $220.46 fortnightly with Afterpay.

    Total Savings $1,367.15

    • +1

The saving number is huge, but my guess is you pay ~$900 per year for phone, assuming you upgrade each year.

      • Had the S22+ since June 2022,so almost 2 years now

  • +4

Would love some s23+ deals. Ultra tad large for me

    • +3

Same.. My partners waiting out for an S23+ deal. S23U is massive

  • I'm only getting the code to work on the Online Exclusive colours for the S23U. Shame, I much prefer the green and phantom black OG colours.

    • +1

Easy fix, slap a case on it.

  • s23 ultra or pay the extra for s24 ultra? thoughts?
