Cheapest Service Provider for nbn FTTP Upgrade 12 Months Requirements

Any service providers currently offering 12 months promotional offer for FTTP upgrade?

I remember seeing 12 months promotional pricing for FTTP upgrades from certain providers last year.

Although Superloop advertisements say "access fast internet from $69/mth (100/20 plan) when I enter my address I only get the 250/25 or 1000/50 plans costing $85 - $100 even for the first six months

100/20 or faster is for FTTN to FTTP.

250/25 or faster is for FTTC to FTTP. nbn want to change the 250/25 requirement to 100/20 for FTTC to FTTP. nbn didn't say when this is happening.

Superloop allow you to change speed after the FTTP installation is complete.

There's no 12 months requirement anymore. Leave after 1 month if you want.

If you're a cba customer there should be deals for more nbn

I recently signed up for 3 months free, then after 3 months they asked me to call back to apply the 30% off code from Yello.

    • Indeed, currently have 3 year free More NBN FTTP as 2nd link - use it as failover etc.

      • is it with More?

      • Sorry, you have 3 years internet for free? That’s wild

    Thank you all.

@Twix Thank you for providing a link for the 12 months deal.

@GTR12 Thank you for the update about the removal of the 12 month requirement.

@SmiTTy CBA deal seems to be good.

  • I found Spintel to be the most reasonable, including free installation (no lock in contracts either)

Type your address in and you should be able to see what plans offer the free upgrade (i believe it’s the 100 plan for $69 and the 200 plan for $75. You supply your own modem.

    Hope this helps.

  • I just plonked in my neighbours address and Tangerine upgrade is free on $44.90/6 months 100 plan. When I did it last year it was $49.90 :(

Upgrade process was smooth, 2 weeks and all sorted. Connection was pretty awful though so we left after 1 or 2 months.

  • Great news! You are already upgraded to Fibre.

Your nbn connection network is HFC nbn, click on 'get started' and choose one of the internet plans.

is that meaning HFC can not upgarde to real fibre?

    • HFC is not being upgraded to FTTP for free.

You can get a free quote here. You are probably looking at $10k to 20k to change from HFC to FTTP.

  • Any thoughts on Exetel NBN? How it compares to the Biggies Telstra and Optus?

  • You can already get higher speeds such as 1000/50Mbps on the HFC network. So no need to upgrade to Fibre.
You only need to upgrade if you want higher upload speeds and in a lot of cases you need a business connection to get the higher speeds anyway so would be worth talking to your provider about NBNEE in that case which is enterprise Ethernet which is full fibre.
Just keep in mind NBNEE isn't cheap.

  • Also keep in mind that NBN Co are upgrading the HFC network over the next 12 to 18 months to allow for higher upload speeds anyway.
Plus faster download speeds will be available as well.
