Does this support a plex client?

Edit: looks like a foxtel controlled roku/apple tv knockoff, not a deal regardless of price imo.

We will, we will Roku !!!

Apparently you can't sideload apps. That greatly diminishes its overall value.

  • +3

This is good if you don't have an aerial near your TV. You need to sign into each of the 5 FTA catch-up TV apps but then you get to view their livestreams of the FTA channels via an EPG and you're able to directly access a channel without opening the app. It also has an aerial input if you don't want to stream the channels.

    • +4

Except most of the FTA networks do not own the streaming rights to the sports they broadcast, so you won't see sports without the antenna connected.

    • Hmm, my MIL has just moved into a new house where her TV won't be near an aerial port and I've been tasked with finding a solution. I wonder if this is it then. Are there any alternatives that might have an easy to use interface?

      • No, get a Chromecast or Google TV instead. Doesn't have an EPG but changing to each freeview app will be quicker than using this.

I've got a dumb Soniq TV and Google TV, working really well together for total outlay of less than $350

        • Thanks for the suggestion. I think she would want something with an EPG though.

      • Did indoor aerials become illegal recently?

Cheap, but hard to recommend given it's poor Kayo and Binge experience, and sluggish UI.

    • You’d think 2017 ARM A55 would struggle in 2024.

Are you sure? Streaming and free-to-air TV entertainment fused into the world's best user interface"

  • Does this work with the,

"50% off one Hubbl for Selected customers only. Min cost $49.50 for 1 Hubbl (small device)."

deal that some customers got via email?

    • did you ever find this out? have the email and the cashback is back

      • No. I didn't buy one, so unsure if cashback would track, let alone be granted (after however many months it would be). So didn't take the risk.

I also knew I was going to be getting a S90C tv, so thought I would hold off til then. Once I got it, I found the inbuilt tizen o/s app for kayo works well enough, but currently only outputs in upscaled 1080p. It still looks pretty damn good, so just going to wait for them to fix the app.

  • is there on going subscription costs for the hubbl or you just plug in your netflix and prime details , watch streaming or free to air ? currently have a google chrome for netflix and prime and normal TV remote for free to air , does this mean one remote and no more switching between aerial input and the chrome input on the TV ?

"What is Hubbl? What's changing? From 14 February 2024, Hubbl will replace Streamotion as the new company of Kayo Sports, BINGE and Flash. This change will also be reflected in your subscription billing."

"TV and streaming made easy Streaming and free-to-air TV entertainment fused into the world's best user interface, no need to go in and out of apps to discover content you'll love."

Foxtel Group: "Hubbl Company Announcements Introducing the Future of TV & Streaming: Hubbl is Coming. The brand name for Australia's newest transformative TV technology was revealed today and is set to change the entertainment experience for the better for millions of Australians."

Given it's foxtel, this isn't a good deal and bullshit marketing, "fused into the world's best user interface" really? best in the world…

Foxtel’s continual attempts at rebranding to stay relevant and shit devices is amusing to watch.

  • Didn't know anyone still watched FTA

    • It still exists, therefore advertisers are stil paying them money, therefore somebody is still watching it. Else, the advertisers wouldn't pay them money and it wouldn't exist.
