Only $4 cheaper than the deal that's been up for a few days?

      it's a bloody deal, mate, 4$ off, I'll take 10 SD OLED

Description seems a bit off for the oled version

      Thanks for point out, updated!

OP would you consider offering free express shipping to match the other offer? Also, the "warranty info" section is empty - what's the warranty for this?

    • 12 months warranty, you can choose free express shippingif you are the ebay plus member.

      Thanks!

    • +10

If they wanted to make NO money from importing it, they'd price it at $915AUD ($549 USD + 10% GST)
      Not to mention shipping them.

        • +5

If you import it yourself you have to pay to send it back to the States and then back to you in Australia. That'll cost you a couple hundred easily. So for that $410 you get a local warranty.

        • Also the PS5 is available locally, so scalpers were just preventing people from buying locally and adding $$

    • +40
      1. The price for the 512GB is USD $549. AUD $800 would mean they make a loss just on the unit alone.

      2. Shipping. The Deck doesn't magically fly across from the US and deliver itself to their warehouse and the magically to the customer's door.

      3. Import taxes. Although if you can't understand the rest of the price you probably don't understand this either.

      4. They're a business. They need to make money to remain a business.

      5. Your PS5 reseller analogy is shit. The PS5 is available at your local JB while the Steam Deck is not available in the country except through these sellers.

Learn a bit about economics before you downvote and talk out of your arse.

        • +19

Oh cool. Just ignore everything I've said and play stupid. Although I'm guessing you're probably not playing.

they are making money off yal.

          Yes, that's how businesses work.

            • +8

              @Rukiata:

Shipping, needs to get here from the US

Not sure how they're getting these (individual units or in bulk) but they need to cross the world somehow.

              Currency conversion

Current conversion rate puts US price at ~$832 AUD.

              Import taxes

Assuming they declare a value of $830 they're paying $83 on every unit in import taxes.

              Seller fees

eBay isn't free. Every item sold costs them money (let's say $20 per unit as an example).

Now if your math isn't as shit as your reading comprehension we can already see the price is up to $935 AUD.

              Shipping to customer.

Auspost isn't cheap. Around $20 per unit to ship to the customer.

Price is now at $955 AUD.

              Employee wages

Who do you think does all the ordering, the paperwork, the eBay listing, the boxing and shipping? I'll tell you it ain't magical elves that work for free.

I could go on and on but this clearly isn't getting to you so I'll stop here.

@Tacooo: He has, now he's deleted his comments after looking like a moron 😂

            • @solidussnake: I'm so deathly curious what this person has said that they felt the need to delete their comments

              • @lesher: Was blatantly declaring this price as a rip off, asking for $800 AUD instead which would be way below the seller's costs

            • @solidussnake: Excuse my broken english still getting adjusted to my new s24+

          • @Tacooo: woah woah woah… I thought companies like this were importing just out of the goodness of their hearts. You mean they want to make some money too!? Outrageous..

        • I'll buy rrp from you

      • i think he thought this is LCD version

        • Think you're assuming he was putting any thought into it.

    • +2

Your typo in the first sentence. "Price probably" is not what you meant.

I feel like you meant to say price properly. As in "appropriately".

Also there is no rrp as it's not sold in Australia . So grey market can make their own pricing.
If it was sold here officially then it would be above rrp

  • +4

Perhaps someone can guide me from experience: which of the two seller 1299 and 1294 is the better buy assuming the $5 difference does not govern the choice. Say warranty (any?), communication, ease to deal with, etc.
    thank you in advance.

Personally I have shopped at Mobileciti multiple times over years, they used to have physical store in Parramatta,
If I am in need of phone or other gadget I would definitely buy from Mobileciti if it is a deal,
and I don't know much about the other seller, though I have seen multiple deals on Ozbargain from their eBay store.

      • +2

I agree would choose Mobileciti over some random eBay store every day of the week

  • +6

Slowly coming down. Sub 1k and I'm in.

    • +1

      Me too

    • -1

ill be waiting them to match the switch price :)

    • These will probably go for around $900 eventually after eBay coupons. When the original deck came out they were going for crazy high prices.

Just a heads up to people looking to pick this up. I received mine today from the previous deal and I’m having issues connecting to my 5ghz WiFi. Upon research it is a common issue and it’s related to WiFi 6. I still haven’t solved the issue after trying several troubleshooting methods.

I can still connect to my 2.4ghz WiFi but I’m seeing download speeds of around 100mbps rather than 500+ on my 5ghz. Just an fyi but your mileage may vary

    • +1

My 10mbps internet should be just fine

This long due introduction of SD should have been occurred at least one year prior (thank you Gabe) and now it is TOO LATE.

Check the latest update from GPD Win 6 days ago.
    https://www.tomshardware.com/video-games/handheld-gaming/new…

Come on,times has changed. An upgraded version of gpd win mini with latest 8840u will launch very soon and we are still in the SD hype.

    • +7

It just look like 7 inch laptop with a controller with terrible ergonomics taped on… and don't get me wrong, that's cool… but I can see why it's not replacing the SD hype.

    • +4

      Looks atrocious

    • +4

This kind of handheld is not about how powerful the hardware is.

SteamOS has improved a lot of aspect compare to windows OS and that is one of the success factor.

    • +2

Call me when any other OS allows me to press the power button in the middle of an Elden Ring boss fight then come back a week later and resume from the exact same point without a hiccup.

  • +3

I'm saving to buy one from Cash Converters in 2030.

    • I've seen them at CeX.

    • +5

yes, the protable gaming device that delivers the highest 1% frame rates making for the smoothest gameplay, and the highest battery perforance is years behind in the portable gaming market. top quality comment.

  • +6

A bit cheaper at $1090.01 if using code FEBSAVE.

  • +1

I can almost see the day when this is going to be sub 1k… Maybe

    • +1

The average price right now is $1200 before discounts.

We haven't had any big sale events yet this year. If we get a 17% coupon, we're at $996.

    • we need to wait for AUD to start rising, maybe if Fed starts cutting rates

    • Do you have Australian eBay account?

    • Try MARSAVE

  • I placed 2 orders with this seller, and somehow one was delivered on time with proper tracking update, while the other order has no tracking update at all.

I tried contacting the seller via eBay to have them follow up with AusPost and got no reply from the eBay store rep. I raised an inquiry with AusPost and they said the sender didn't sign a form to declare the parcel doesn't contain dangerous goods so the parcel couldn't be sent via air but via road.

If what AusPost said is true, that's pretty inexcusable negligence for a delicate electronic device over $1k like the Steam Deck and one order was delivered perfectly fine. It's not urgent that I need to have the Deck now, but I'd prefer if it were delivered quickly, since there're delicate electronic components in the Deck which could get damaged the longer it stays in transit.

    • -1

      Wah wah.

It's an extra few days. Chill out.

      • -1

What I need is visibility on where the parcel is, which is not being updated through the tracking at all. I just want to know where my $1k device currently is, and what's holding it up.

    • +1

Exactly the same issue with mine. It's been considered 'dangerous goods' and therefore being sent via road instead of air even though I paid Express post to WA. Because of the weather conditions causing delays via road transit, my parcel is now delayed. I thought perhaps it was because of the battery that the seller had chosen to declare it as dangerous goods to comply with Australia Post's battery transport rules, but that only applies to higher capacity batteries or if they're stored outside of the device, which is not the case. So yeahhhh, not great on a $1K+ device, could have been completely avoided.

Edit: Got another response from Aus Post and they're now saying it was because their scans of the parcel show that it was not allowed to be placed on an aircraft. So probably the seller did declare it as not containing dangerous goods and Aus Post's overzealous requirements and scanning system has flagged it up anyway. Obviously it's not a great system if one Steam Deck got through and the others didn't.

      • +1

Yeh, what a really weird situation. Somehow one Deck was sent through via air while another was not. Well, some national courier we've got I guess.
Glad to know I'm not the only one getting this.

  • Update: Arrived safe and sound within 6 days to WA despite road travel and bad weather causing delays. Happy days.

  • Expired now? Or NSW or eBay plus only? I can't get the code to work

Edit: I've figured it out! You need to use marsave now
