$1 Thank You Water 600 ml with Fuel Purchase

190

If you need water then it's a good deal. Thank You water goes to charity and I suspect that whole $1 will go to charity since it's usually double the price. Make sure you help the environment and you reuse the water bottle in the future like a true OB. ;)

the true OZbargainer does not buy bottled water when you can get it from the toilet for free

    • +2

Haha.. yeah. Still though, I'd sling a buck if I was thirsty - granted though, just 'coz it's cheap.. not for the "charity" hoopla angle.

    • +1

Let's just pretend the closest toilet is filled with some undisclosed material and you are very thirsty.

      • +8

Filter it through your sock, Bear Grylles style.

        • +2

i dont wear socks, just like Bear Grylles would ill have to drink my own…. err…… wait what!!!!

        • Nosdan, jam (albeit toe-jam) is always good on wood-fired toast (read: bark). ;)

        • pretty sure this whole thing has been about trying to keep our distance from you….

A true Ozbargainer will ask for freebies and vouchers when donating to a charity, and if they don't give anything in return for your donation, you politely refuse to donate.

a true OZbargainer will support charity… when most of that money goes directly to the people who its meant to be helping. not most of it going into the profits of service stations etc. :D

it scares me when you look at how little money from charity's actually gets to the people in need, and how much goes to buying private jets and luxury cruises called "running costs"

EDIT: from the link FAQ below…. "How much money goes from each bottle sold? The short answer is between $0.085 – $1.20"

so thats as little as around 8 cents going to the people who need it….. thats no bargain!

      • +1

"it scares me when you look at how little money…"

Don't be scared. Are you trembling? I'll give you a hug like there's thunder and ish going on, if you'd like? :)

This crap is business. Every so-called charity is a business. They get tax cuts for being a "charity".. your fear should about halt when you see the Director's pay-packet.. or perhaps your fear should increase?

        • Thankyou water is "a social enterprise, not a charity" from their FAQ

        • is it a free hug? caus there was this one dude at the mall car park today in an old van who was offering me them for free.

        • Lol see! When I was a kid they were offering a lolly with it too. Smh.. that's inflation for ya! Nosdan, hold out for the good offerings. =)

A true ozbargainer will donate his/her time to volunteer, rather than give money to some charity groups to boost their hefty "adminidtration cost".

      • Too true tooblue.
I would much rather give my time because I know exactly how it is being used rather than my money which might be going in admin costs.

$1 for 600ml equals about $1.66/L - still more expensive than the petrol you just filled with. And it's well known that a lot of bottled water is filtered tap water. Moral of the story. Fill up tap water at home & donate $2 to an chairty yourself you can claim as a tax deduction.

    • -2

      "$1 for 600ml equals about $1.66/L"

Still MUCH less than any other 600ml bottle water your likely to snatch at a servo.

"still more expensive than the petrol you just filled with"

You're comparing oranges to apples now. Some of the liquids that I consume, which my car doesn't, cost a whole lot different. So?

      "Moral of the story…"

Empty your pump, give a bit of a treat, a half price wink and grin, and watch 'em SWALLOW. :P

      • -3

LoL! What? Y'all can't neg me on that! I was cracking a funny! =)

His name is PenisPump.. I played on it.. and said to swallow. Gahhhh.. you all are too straight-laced! ~kicks over mike and stomps off stage~ =)

$1 Thank You Water 600 ml

or 0.1 cents for 600ml from Yarra Valley water…

    • +4

or a freebie from the sky…

    • Lol JV, c'mon. We all go fill up sometimes and find ourselves a li'l dry. Hey! Snatch an ice coffee milk.. or grab a water? Now, if dollah waters are there, especially in this mini-heateave, I'd grab one.

Who's really gonna care about "where" it came from? If your Aunt Lou-lou's dunny is putting out the cold wet when I'm thirsty then.. well, I'd buy. :D

    • or 0.1 cents for 600ml from Yarra Valley water…

And a free water bottle from your neighbour's recycling bin.

    • "What is incredible is that every bottle sold, no matter where it is in Australia, covers at least one months worth of safe water being provided to someone in need."

    • FAQ here

wow… try reading through all of it… it makes your vision go funny… not a good choice of colours for reading.

  • used to be $1 slurpee

    • Yes, Judy.. the '90's were some good times. Inflation and ish killed all our fun.. drat! =)

  • If you need water then it's a good deal.

Yeah, i'm pretty desperate right now!

Hi everyone, I work for Thankyou Water and thought I'd provide some clarification on the comments made above. We don't call ourselves a charity - we are instead a social enterprise. We’ve said before that like many people, we think bottled water is silly. However, the fact is that Australians spend $600 million on buying it each year while at the same time, 900 million people do not have access to safe water. The idea behind what we do is that if people are going to buy it anyway, why not provide a better option – therefore we encourage people to simply ‘make the switch’. We don’t expect or ask people who don’t currently buy bottled water to start purchasing it.

All the profits we make go towards funding safe water projects in developing countries. We've worked with a range of project partners in the past to make this happen. So far, we've been able to help over 15,000 people receive access to safe water.

We don't presume to replace the work of charities, or ask you to view us as one. Our mission is to instead provide the everyday Australian with a better choice when buying a common product.

I hope this answers any questions about Thankyou Water and what we do. - Sarah
