  • Fully supports add-on controllers and physical controls
  • Save and resume your progress anywhere with save states
  • Tweak your gaming experience with a database of thousands of game enhancement codes
  • Increase emulation speed with fast-forward

DraStic is only intended for play of private backups of legally acquired games. This product is not affiliated with or endorsed by the company that made the handheld it emulates in any way. Do not ask us for ROMs or help getting them - any request will be ignored.

  • If only you could get emulators on iPhone without the rigmarole

    • +10

There are plenty of cheap deals for Android like the motorola moto g54 5g 128gb. I got it for $164.

      • +7

Yeah but don’t want multiple devices. To be honest most of the appeal is the idea of emulating then the actual ‘fun’ playing the games.

        • -3

I don't think there will be any kind of this apps on iOS unfortunately.

          • +5

@Scrooge McDeal: There’s heaps. All free. You just need to install them with AltStore.

            • +1

@PainToad: Voted down for providing a solution.

              🤦 This place.

          • @Scrooge McDeal: Interesting to note you can install Delta via the App Store for free on iOS which allows you to emulate various systems including ds. Apple changed their rules

      • The DSi is also remarkably cheap compared to prices of old Game Boy systems on the second hand market and it really doesn't take much to load your game backups directly onto its SD card port these days if you're so inclined

    • +2

If you don’t mind a small amount of rigmarole, you could try using Altstore and the Delta emulator.

    • If only you could get emulators on iPhone without the rigmarole

      https://www.webrcade.com/#features

No rigmarole, no AltStore required and no Jailbreak.

      • -2

Voted down for providing a solution.

        🤦 This place.

        • I see your disappointment but the solution you’ve provided doesn’t include DS emulation. Thanks anyways as the website is pretty cool regardless.

          • -2

@EitherWayUp: DS is being worked on and ‘coming soon’.

But I provided a solution to your question

If only you could get emulators on iPhone without the rigmarole

“Emulators”, you didn’t ask for a DS Emulator.

        • Yep, too many Nancy's on this site.

    • +1

There was Delta emulator on the App Store for $2. It was on the AppStore for a month before it got pulled yesterday.

      • Seems it’s available again

    • there actually is a DS and GBA emulator that runs on a website for iOS and you can just add it to your homescreen, emulation is flawless and super impressive imo, obviously you need an internet connection but its the best ive found while not having to sideload with altstore.

      https://ds.44670.org/

    • Here's hoping the EU legislation will open it up enough for emulation developers to want to develop for iOS more actively.

      • I heard that app needs to have had 1M downloads on App Store before developers can offer availability via their own website.

  • +6

duh bought it with reward dollars but still…………

  • +35

I wonder if it became free after what happened to yuzu/citra.

    • +1

Definitely capitalising on the removal of those

      • +6

maybe, but i think what they mean is drastic wouldn't wanna be seen as monetising this technology (which some argue is what caused the ire of nintendo with yuzu)

    • +2

Oh definitely. Apparently YUZA were making $30k a month through patreon and that's one of the reasons Nintendo got them.

Afaik emulating isn't illegal (assuming you own the ROM - similar to downloading a DVD you own). I guess having people pay for software which allow them to play games without your hardware is.

I'm sure if you did a survey you'd find that the majority of users of emulators do not own the games or even consoles they are emulating. All good in my books if it's abandonware or similar like older generations of consoles. But the switch is current gen and YUZA was (allegedly) taking away profits from Nintendo.

      • +25

The main reason Yuzu messed up is they admitted in discord chats (that Nintendo got hold of) that they got an illegal copy/rip of Tears Of The Kingdom, they got their emulator set up to run it specifically before the games release and then charged people for an early release of Yuzu that was optimised for TOTK. If they had just released it for free (which they eventually did days later) they would have been fine.

They were also caught in their discord talking about other illegally acquired games.
The Yuzu team were also working on Citra so when Nintendo came for Yuzu they probably got Citra in the deal, they got the Yuzu website and all the source code for both.

      • 30k a month takes a while to add up to $2.4m… i reckon they were earning cash elsewhere

        • +4

The amount of damages awarded against you is not related to the amount of money you made or the amount of money you had. They could have been making $20 a month, with $200 in the bank, and the damages would still have been $2.4M. Just look at Gary Bowser.

  • +2

Maybe Nintendo are out to get them, last hoorah. https://www.gamesradar.com/with-yuzu-agreeing-to-pay-nintend…

    • +7

I mean the devs over at Yuzu pretty much screwed themselves over by charging people money for releases, if they stayed free Nintendo probably wouldn't have even made a move, just take a look at Ryujinx, the ones that don't charge anything. You can support them on Patreon but you literally don't get anything special or anything related to the emulator.

      • +3

Yuzu charged money? All the code and releases were on GitHub. I never paid for the releases I downloaded. They had a patron, but absolutely not required.

I think the issue was how vocal they were about running early leaked games (obviously illegal) and publishing comprehensive guides on their site about how to get your prod.keys from the consoles.

        • +7

That's just it, the ToTK leak is what really made them money. They gave their Patreon supporters links to early releases and announced that they would update it accordingly so people could play the leak before the release date, that in turn increased their supporter numbers and earned them more money. I think it was locked behind a $30 supporter plan, and that's about as blatant a money grab as you can get, they just got greedy.

          • +1

@WinterStar: Not a coincidence this has gone free, now. When I saw the ToTK leak and Yuzu supporting day-1 emulation - I actually said out loud "Well that's the end of that emulator". Painted a ToTK sized target on their back. A damn shame really.

    • Oh damn, didn't realise this had happened. I've got Yuzu on my PC, is it going to stop working or will it carry on without issue?

      • +1

It'll keep working like normal, there'll just be no more updates.

        • +3

if you havent updated to the latest, just go to the archive.org to get it

  • Showing $6.75 for me

    • +1

Maybe close your Google Play Store and reopen.

      • Cheers. That workee. Showing as "Install" now.

  • +2

Used this for years and by far the best performance for DS emulation. It was a good deal before but free is amazing, grab it while you can

  • Does anyone know how this compares to supernds emulator?

  • +3

Nintendo just absolutely destroyed the most popular switch and 3ds emulator and now they owe them 2.5m USD

    • Owners pay themselves a salary, company goes bankrupt.

    • +5

Nintendo owes its customers 2.5B USD for selling shoddy overpriced ports and ROMs.

      • It's so bad when they do an "upscale" remake and it completely destroys the games aesthetic.

Half the FF remakes are awful because of this

  • +5

I bought this like 10 years ago back on my Xperia Play. I remember back then shitting my pants at GTA 3 on the go. We've come a long way in a decade hey.

    Anyway, great quality emulator.

  • Nintendo will come for you.

  • Drastic is also available (for free) in Onion OS v4.3 for the Miyoo Mini and Miyoo Mini Plus.

  • +1

Nice any game recommendations that feel nice to play on phone?

  • +13

    PS: from their Discord:

I just changed the app on GPlay to free. I don't intend to even have it on there for that much longer but I want to make it clear that I don't have any kind of financial incentive to not opening the source. Releasing the source in short order is something I fully intend on doing.

This change can't be undone, so that's it. I was already planning on this a while ago so it's not simply due to the Nintendo stuff, that just made the whole process more urgent which I guess is a good thing because I'm terrible at doing things.

Will be removed from the play store soon.

  • F

  • Poor hardware, high price, strong legal team. What is the name of this company???
Wont play any games on its consoles if they are available on any other platforms.

  • Im going to ask, where is the best place for roms, and can anyone suggest some good DS games?

    • +1

Please don't discuss on post. But DM headless and myself

    • +2

I recently discovered a large list of thinks pertaining to piracy. Try a Google search: awesome-piracy github
It stopped being updated about 8 months ago so some links might no longer function.

There is an even bigger list called FMHY freemediaheckyeah . It is very large but worth combing through if you are a power user: there are links to piracy sites, free software and other free resources, online services (eg Image Upsizing) and so on. I am still working my way through it, but I found many new and interesting sites and programs.

Also, don't be afraid to use the Russian Yandex search engine when looking for something specific. Sites which have been downgraded by Google for political or copywrite reasons often show up in a general Yandex search . To get hits in Google, you have to name what you are after plus a specific site, such as Super Tuesday Trump Breitbart.

  • -2

Lemuroid already does what drastic does, but Better, and it was already free.

  • sank few hours of sleep already
    Thanks OP

  • +2

Thank god for emulation. Nintendo has some of the worst practices for being able to play old games. Chalk some of that down to fans blinded by nostalgia, but there are just so many games that would be impossible to play because of either prohibitive prices for old hardware or a lack of backwards compatibility.

    • +3

It's a real shame that the standard for legally playing their games at a modern standard is to: purchase the game, abandon the console and play it on emulator.

Full props to the communities that spend launch days fixing the games for emulators and making it available in a more playable state.

  • RIP yuzu.

  • bought it years ago, used it on every phone since. Currently have a galaxy fold and its like going back in time haha.

  • Thanks! Been playing Mario Kart all afternoon on my phone :)

  • That's physically impossible, Wright.

  • +3

Amazing app. Compare nds games to current mobile apps and many dont come close.

  • Can get a DSi XL for less than $100 used from Japan on Ebay. Just need an sd card and a bit of patience and can play any game on the original system
EDIT: Just stating for those unaware.
