Ensure to follow CASA Rules if flying a drone with these goggles. Generally, you cannot fly outdoors in public areas with these goggles.

yep because of the stupid line of sight rules you can't use these solo you need a "spotter" next to you. many people don't seem to care for this rule because I have seen many use FPV goggles and depending on the area police don't seem to care, if you have a spotter or not. If you're flying indoors as well like a indoor stadium then the rules don't apply.

My understanding is that the laws are more stringent than that - when flying outdoors, all RC aircraft pilots are required to be able to see their aircraft with the naked eye at all times. So even just having a spotter is not sufficient to satisfy the requirements under normal circumstances.

If you want to fly FPV outdoors, you must be a member of a club with CASA approval for FPV operations and follow the club's rules for FPV operations, or you need explicit approval from CASA directly - both of these arrangements would doubtless include a mandatory spotter.

You're right that these laws are almost impossible to enforce, but anyone who gets caught is going to get the book thrown at them. The penalties are pretty severe.

well they have changed the rules if that is the case because it used to be perfectly acceptable to have a spotter for line of sight when using FPV. or else why bother selling the goggles if people can't use them.

@kungfuman: You can use them, as outlined by the comment above: Indoors, or at a Club event with CASA approval.

    this or vision pro

    • not the same thing man, these are FPV goggles, not VR goggles. they are a video feed only with heads up display so you have better control over your drone and visuals.
