Very pretty. But I turned down the fugu and lunar pilot.. surely not to buy this beauty??…

    • This is pretty and a great price, but if you didn't get a fugu or lunar pilot on sale, surely you can wait for something better

    • I got the lunar pilot but passed on the hack… wished I did the opposite!
lunar pilot is a beautiful watch but helped me realise i prefer non-chrono's, and have longingly looked up the hack ever since.
hope deepak chucks it on sale again soon

Great looking men's watch - thanks!

    Bezel Doesn't Rotate

    noooooo

    beautiful watch for $150 tho

The irony is you can buy a diver style quartz watch with a rotating bezel for around $10 delivered on Aliexpress.

InB4 replies saying they can't really be compared.

      • Hopefully the rise of Chinese watches forces Citizen, Seiko et al to be more competitive

        • No, they'll drop the quality and still lose the race to the bottom. Refer to Seiko.

      • But it looks nothing like this one…

        Saving people a click.

        • I think it would look good on you or what about a Ben Nevis SKX homage?

          • +2

@WatchNerd: Ben Nevis is an even funnier name than Christopher Ward to be printed on a dial

          • +1

@WatchNerd: The vertical video on the Ben Nevis product listing, with the AI voice not matching the woman in the corner, is unsettling enough

  • I like your other tiff blue/teal post more. 😅

    • Which one?

        The Citizen NJ0170-83X from your long-runner post.😊

Oh yeah nice watch. I have the yellow dial which seems very hard to find now.

          • @WatchNerd: Yeah, I'm on the lookout for that one.. 😅

              • +1

@chrisandrew: That's the one! 😪 Quite a few places seem to have it for around the $390ish mark. Not within my acceptable price range though.. I'd be happy to pay more for the teal one in any circumstance.. 😅 I paid $202 delivered for mine so if it ever drops below that, I'ma have to cop..

Even the yellow version of your current posted one is way too much coin I think, even so it's a metal bracelet.

Edit: I also finally ordered my second 12slot watch box this morning. Had my last seller on watch, about to checkout, then randomly another seller in the suggested, had the exact same one for about 33% less. Proud as punch I saved myself a solid $11.. 🤣 Yes, the thing is only like $32 normally at the cheapest.. 😅 I spent a solid hour or two a couple years ago combing through a majority of the listings. Found the 12-slot box with the widest slot size so they don't scratch on each others sides like most of the other boxes and was pleasantly surprised at how heavy and solid it was. The carbon fiber look actually comes up really nice! I don't like double decker boxes because most of, if not all the cheaper ones, bottom shelves are super short/shallow and won't let your posted watch for example, close without forcing it in..

I don't get it… what's the point of a static bezel? Is it so divers at depth can see that the bottom of their watch is still indicating 30 mins ?

    • Just dive at 00 minute, at least the bezel won't rotate and screw up the timing. :D

    • It's a diver's style watch

And, let's be honest…how many people here use rotating bezels as anything other than a fidget spinner?

      • Makes a damn nice fidget spinner though.

      • I find them rather handy when cooking.

      • I use mine as a timer and to count laps at the pool, too.

      • When I'm bobbing up and down on my boat on the mighty Clyde River, I can easily anticipate the tide changes every 6 hrs with a rotating bezel. Tide charts are good for several measured points, but better still to observe and measure.

  • Wish they make smaller versions for children.

Bought a Casio MRW200H-1B when it was on sale, cheap, and looks cheap.

    • You should've gotten the yellow version. I agree these look like they suit the price point, but I'd only ever recommend one as a beater watch anyway.

      • The yellow was not on sale. The black was $31.

        Almost spent $20 on a https://www.skmei.com/

But an analogue watch is better for school, no beeps or unintended alarms, and clearly not a smart watch.

  • I'm looking for a watch to wear when I go surfing - can any watch nerds kindly let me know if this would be suitable?

    • +1

      There is only one WatchNerd…

    • It is 100m WR so it would be fine for surfing - and I guess the colour is kind of surfish too?

But if you want a bit more water activities cred, there are a number of the BN-series Citizen Promasters that you might prefer. They'll cost more, but they are better….

There's the Orca BN0230-04E (black), BN0235-01E (stealth black) or BN0231-01L (blue), about $370. If you don't think having an Orca-inspired watch would jinx a surfer :D

The BN016x series - there are several different colourways - are all fair dinkum WR200 dive watches, and can be had for $270 upwards
Very similar are the BN015x watches but have a different set of colours.

Similar again but in a smaller size are the EO202x watches if 44mm for the BNs is too big.

The Fugus (NY01xx) also have dive cred. They pop up on special fairly regularly, if you're lucky it'll be a colour you like on sale. These are automatics as opposed to the BNs which are eco-drive, and they also get a sapphire crystal, so they cost a bit more. But can be had in the $300s when discounted.

      • Thank you very much!

    • Why not get a gshock model that shows the tide? Seems like the perfect use case for one of those.

  • Very Tiffany.

  • I'm actually tossing up maybe putting an order in on This turquoise SD1953

I have the SD1970 and love it. I suppose I should expect the same quality watch with the 1953, does anyone have any experience with this one?

    • No experience but don't forget to try the codes on Clears new post.

Maybe look on YouTube for reviews.
