I agree but its 399.
The DVD was probably Hitachi and the motherboard was probably Asus.
Cheap PCs fail because the design is compromised and the parts are dirt cheap.
Ive seen more "cheap" PCs fail then "brand-names" PCs fail.
Everyone has their own experiences with different brands. For example, I have had many problems with Netgear switches. Yet others swear by them. As I'm sure there are others with HP/Compaq machines that have lasted for years.
You're a bitter man Diogenes.
Good deal though for a solid entry level laptop.
This is a great deal!
Never, ever, ever buy an HP/Compaq. They are absolute rubbish - an ongoing legacy of Carly Fiorina's tenure at the helm of CPQ. They are purpose-built to fail just outside warranty.
Or, you could suit yourself.
Go ahead- buy one. Then watch its DVD-RW fail, half its USB ports die, and the bloatware HP dreck that's pre-installed drag system performance into the mire.
The upside to that - for me - is that in the back of your head you will hear me saying … "I told you so."
