    that's cheap! thanks OP

  • Thanks OP

  • Do these work without the app? e.g. I just want a light that turns off if no one's there.

    • What do you mean "if no one's there". How do you want the on/off to be triggered? Google Home manages the automation usually.

    • +1

If you've got a room presence sensor that is able to connect with Google Home, you could set up an automation that turns the bulb off if it detects that no one is the room. However, this is usually a little janky and you're probably better off finding a better solution.

    • In what way - have you got any automations or other smart control setup ?

      • yeah i've got a cheapo presence sensor that I picked up from aliexpress that was able to be added to my google home account and placed it next to the bedroom door. When I walk in, the lights automatically turn on and when I leave and it doesnt detect motion for 5 minutes, it turns the lights off. The issue is that the sensor isn't super reliable so sometimes it'll fail to detect me entering, or just turn off the lights if I'm sitting at my computer and it doesn't detect me for whatever reason. You can get better sensors from reputable brands but i haven't looked too much into it since my current solution works well enough for me atleast.

    That's a dim bulb.

great for secondary lighting (like lamps/uplights) and for small spaces (like walk-ins, laundry etc)

      Dull deal 🧐

Bought these for the whole house, be aware that if you flip the light switch 3 times in a row they will reset and act as strobe lights until you reconnect them using the lenovo app.

  • Can you add these to Home Assistant using Tuya ?

    • +1

      Yes you can

      • Thank you. It does work. Glad I bout em.

Had so much trouble with these that their own Lenovo app can seem to link them up.

I contacted customer service who just at the end not replying to my emails.

I suggest doing some Google research before buying them.

    • Did you finally succeed, if yes how

      • +2

I did it via Tuya after reading about it online. It was successful at first try.

        • Any links on this without using Lenovo app. Just bought a bunch of these

          Lenovo app unlikely will work

I've had the odd issue with bulbs compatible with tuya or smart life apps.

Some of the time it's because they specifically require You to be on 2.4ghz to pair. They don't have a 5ghz radio so if your phone is on your homes 5ghz network, even if it's the same network I've had issues trying to pair them. I've had to either force 2.4ghz via router to my phone or just kill 5ghz for a little bit til it's sorted.

Once they're syncd up and connect to ghome or whatever it's usually fine controlling from any device regardless of wifi radio band

Guess they are cheap for a reason. If they last more than 1/2 year, I'm happy. The Yumcha sht brands I got given at $2 each local lighting store, those e27 base broke off while still plugged in, away from globes, after they go busted. It took me ages to remove those without damaging the lights themselves

Had 3 of them 3 times the pain to remove and dispose.

          And last only 5 months

          • @neonlight: In the defense of the 5 bulbs I'm currently using. I've had a few now for like… 3+ years. And last 2 well over a year. I didn't get them quite as cheap as this but still very worth it for me at least.

          • +1

@neonlight: Pretty reliable. Has it running for 2 years now.

  • Not sure if its a common issue and the stuff I have is a few years old at this point but I have 2 Lenovo Smart Plugs and a Lenovo Smart Bulb that just will not connect to the lenovo app or third party ones.

    • I've got a different lenovo bulb an I connect to it with the smart life app on my phone.
I need to switch my phone to 2.4ghz WIFI for it to detect and the bulb will randomly enter pairing mode after a month or 2 (which I think is because I refuse to log into the app), but I can at least control it

    • Use TUYA app , don't bother with Lenovo app.

800 Lumeans isn't that bright for a biggish room.. 950+ would be more suited for larger rooms.

Still that's a pretty good price

  • Good price for smart Led bulbs. Not sure about quality but beats the regular Led bulbs for sure

Local lightning store sells non smart ones for $3 each. So extra $1 for Lenovo not bad

Delivery $6 is reasonable I guess.

  • Oh nice one, I grabbed these same ones I think when JB HiFi was clearing them ~1yr ago.
No trouble with them so far. Set them up in Lenovo app once then linked to Google Home.
Haven't had to open the Lenovo app since.

  • Thanks OP. Bought couple of door sensors and motion sensors for very cheap price as well.

    • Thank you. Bought few sensors, their door sensors are eligible for free delivery with ebay plus unlike motion sensors.

  • Lenovo exited the IOT device market sure some using other methods of controlling them will work for the future just don't expect much development and support, better sticking to another brand and staying in that ecosystem

Old thread and no one is probably going to see this.
I bought these and they got delivered today.

The Lenovo Link Pro app it tells you to use is dead. (at least for android)
The regret settled in. Don't worry!

(I don't know if this is common knowledge) Looks like heaps of vendors use the same underlying software.

I already have a brilliant smart light; I could add these Lenovo lights to the brilliant app.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brilliantl…

So if you already have any smart home app set up I would try add these lights to that.

    Much love.

    • "… no one is probably going to see this." Don't believe it!

I'm not into the IOT, all I want to do is turn lights on and off with alexa. So I've ordered one of these to test on my bedroom light. Thanks for your tip, luckily I do also have a brilliant smart light and app, for away-from-home holiday security. Do you know if I can then link it to alexa? (I don't have any smart devices connected to alexa)

    • How did you add it? Mine doesn't seem to find it.

  • Sigh. Helped a friend order some and got them to order me 8x E27 as well. Arrived today, what do you know they ordered all 14 as B22 instead -.-

I'll chuck them on marketplace eventually. If anybody wants some B22 once these are sold out on the south side of Brisbane hit me up (cost price).
