Appreciate the detailed analysis. Exactly what I was looking for to help me decide whether to buy it or not.
Narwhale?
Omg, is that the the real revolutionary “ Self-Empty 2.0” or just the coup
“ Self-Empty 2.0”???
Never heard of the company, so went to their website and found
"Narwal was created over a dinner table.
The idea for the Narwal T10 came to our founder during a family dinner. At the time, he had several robotics research and development projects underway, all of which were struggling, and his family wanted to help out. Over the course of their meal, they discussed problems in their lives where they thought a robot could be useful. One problem mentioned by the founder’s father would require him to invent a robot that could not only vacuum and mop a floor but also clean itself. This was exactly the inspiration the founder needed, and not long after the Narwal company was born."
What a lot of Bu**S*iT. Do people really fall for this?
yes, they do, unfortunately… lots of wines in places like dan murphys have fantastic stories yet in reality they're just coles wines from wherever dressed up.
Couldn't agree more!
I love reading stories in Dan Murphys and have a full cupboard of alcohol. I could have bought another house instead, I guess.
Yup people do, this is rated as one of the worst cleaners atm
not sure how accurate the timeline is but narwal was one of the first robomops I saw (then all the big players launched theirs)
@Jono777: Your information is inaccurate unless you have been exposed to robotic vacuum cleaners recently. Electrolux introduced the first robotic vacuum cleaner in 1996.
Narwal was founded in 2016, they got their first product three years after it was founded in 2019. So, mate I am not sure what you are talking about.
List of robotic vacuum cleaners when they were released to the market.
• Electrolux Trilobite – 1996. Named for its appearance, basic functionality and mild functional success. Introduced the public to the concept.
• LG Roboking – launched in 2001
• Dyson DC06 – 2001. Deemed too expensive; not released.
• iRobot Roomba – 2002. Basic features on this early iRobot model succeeded in defining the retail category in America.
• Kärcher RC3000 and RC4000 – sold from 2002 to 2015
• Friendly Vac RV400 – 2004, from Hoover and Friendly Robotics (Robomow); discontinued
• Koolvac – all U.S. models destroyed in 2005 due to a successful patent infringement lawsuit by iRobot
• Ecovacs Robotics Deebot series – introduced in 2007
• iRobot Pet Series – 2008.
• ILIFE Robotics – introduced in 2010
• Dustbot – prototype for street cleanup, 2010
• Neato Robotics XV-11 – 2010 The Neato had average specifications for its time but implemented a laser mapping system.
• iRobot Roomba 980 – 2015. iRobot implemented camera mapping, a WiFi module, and a smartphone app.
• Dyson 360Eye – 2015. Marketed as Dyson's first robotic vacuum, this model included camera-based obstacle detection and room mapping.
Hi, Jono's defense here.
Which of the models you listed included a mopping feature? He claimed Narwal was one of the first robots with mopping functionality.
@andresampras: Thanks for jumping in to save Jono, but the claim that Narwal was one of the first robots with mopping functionality in untrue.
I am not sure who invented first mopping robotic vacuum cleaner, but I can it was definitely not any of those companies that come out of "ASIA"
My parents had iRobot Scooba back in 2006(I think the model was 5800) which simultaneously vacuumed and mopped the floors. It has dual floor brush and water tank. It vacuumed, mopped and collected dirty water as well which could be emptied once the floor was cleaned.
In 2016 I bought Roomba iRobot Scooba 450 which has 3 stage cleaning process (soaking, scrubs and squeegees the floor. BTW the unit is still in good working condition and I use it 2 times a week. Until now I have replaced the battery on it thrice, water container twice and also the replaced the brushes couple of times (normal wear and tear)
@SteveD: Jono, you need a new lawyer I'm out.
@andresampras: @andresampras Thanks for the pro bono work, appreiate you man!
@SteveD mate you need to chill out, I didn't claim anything definite hence starting my sentence with "not sure how accurate the timline is.."
Was mainly giving props to narwal for their effective digital marketing all those years ago. Also, what's up with robot vacuum companies from "ASIA"? Seems they took the mopping idea and made it better :)
Gotta give Roomba props though for finally playing catch up with its cleanbase dock
Peace
I had the Narwal Freo and was convinced to return it and buy the Dream L10 Ultra. Worst mistake. I was happily take my my narwal in a heart beat.
I used to use the roborock s5 since it had the mop function. Unfortunately, it's a glorified wet cloth being dragged around, which you have to clean yourself. And then the narwhal t10 came around which had the rotating mop heads that cleaned the mops every so often(depends on how dirty your floor is). Not sure if I "need" to upgrade to this. Very tempted to, based on my current one's performance
Costco online has it at $1899.99 if you are Costco member
https://www.costco.com.au/Appliances/Vacuums-Floorcare/Robot…
Thats the Freo, not the Freo X Ultra
The standard Freo does not have "Revolutionary Self-Empty 2.0"
sounds bulimic, this narwhal
Costco are pretty good about returns right?
these are crap
