70

Prices have been cheaper in past, but this is not a bad price honestly given oil prices have not come down recently and have stayed up for a long time.

And as typical autobarn instore deals, its 2 per customer limit in store only. People have gotten it price matched at SCA instore also in past.

      • What’s the shelf life like

I think 5 years? So 10 will last you 5 if you do it every 6 months

          • @zorodluffy:

            I think 5 years?

For PREMIUM synthetic oil, my experience is that it DOES last LONGER than 5 years (sealed & well-kept)…may be the write-ups are MIS-information by the oil-industry 🤔

  • So is it better to stop start or just leave it running? I prefer to leave it running as I hate it when the aircon starts to change but my husband insists it's a lot better to stop start

    • engine wise leave it running, most wear occurs during start up procedure, environment and efficiency wise, stop start more beneficial.

      • That's what I thought, thanks for that!

most wear occurs during start up procedure

Yes…Castrol is effective with their advertising.

Experiment: start your engine & under these scenario,
        1. after overnight of no-use,
        2. after 3m of engine warmed-up fully from a drive,
        3. after 3s of engine warmed-up fully from a drive,

Compare the above with an engine warmed-up fully from a drive…your reference-point in this test.

What are the sound-DIFFERENCES…focus on the sound of metal-moving-parts in your engine-bay (bonnet-up) straight-after the engine comes alive, say for the 1st 10s ?

        • most wear occurs during start up procedure - FACT

  • Is this suitable for my 2018 petrol Golf? I'm looking for oil that is suitable for VW 504 00 as it was meant to be changed in December (missed the service).

    • Always consult your owner's manual

      • I have, it specifies oil compliant to VW 504 00. I can't see any information on this oil relating to VW. Does anyone know?

        • Your owner's manual says 5w 30 is okay ?? If so then generally this should be okay too otherwise if you want to check if this oil meets vw specs you only can see back of the bottle for the ratings it meets

  • Note that version in the link below is C3-rated & Castrol noted that this-version is ok for petrol-engines, see links below.

Also, I have used Castrol Edge 0W-40 DPF on a 2014 WRX petrol-engine & owner didn't notice any adverse-impact…feel free to advise long-term problem.
