    Great shoes!

    • Agreed!

Have you had the 6's before? They're even better than the previous couple generations, only small adjustments but such a great shoe.

  • Are these water resistant at all? eg. accidently walk into a small puddle, will my feet be soaked?

    • +3

They are made to be well ventilated as such very little water resistance. That being said, the sole wraps decently high around the base of the shoe and the lugs are tall. If you step in a puddle or two you will be fine, if you are hiking through mud you will get wet feet.

There is a fully waterproof version we also sell.

      • Thanks for your reply. Will take a look!

        • +1

Good luck, any other questions just ask!

    • +3

Some are goretex, most are not. Fairly chunky sole so usually elevated off water. Had tried in puddles with mine and feet not gotten wet immediately, until at least a dozen wet puddles.
      They dry quickly as synthetic.
Very narrow fitting I wear men's wide and normally men's shoes are much wider than women's shoes.

      • Nailed it!

      • Considering they're described as narrow, how do you find the comfort level with these shoes, especially being so slim? Do they cause any discomfort or pain due to their narrow fit?

        • +1

If you have a super wide foot not for you.

If you have a regular foot get the wide.

If you have a narrow foot get the regular.

Globally they're the second best selling Salomon shoe ever behind the XA PRO, which tells me most find them very comfy if you get the right size, if you're cautious I would go a half size up and a width up from normal. We have 80 day returns if you get it wrong too.

  • Smallest man size us 8.5

  • +3

Try the woman's ones in Black, they look identical but go to smaller sizes, you have to plus one to your regular size.

So if you are a mens 7 get the woman's 8.

  • Thanks OP ordered a pair, Used the code GETWILDER for $6.50 off too.

    • Yewww, enjoy!!

  • How many OzB freaks here actually go hiking with running in mind? 😅

Jump on our Instagram Was, you will see some pictures of our team out hitting the trails!
Maybe we're all crazy though, I have considered that possibility.

      • Maybe..

I don't get out much though hey.

I just can't imagine someone with a cork hat and walking pole, hiking up the mountains somewhere, carrying a giant 20kg rucksack and getting soo pumped he just starts going into a trot, then eventually just tosses the pole and goes into a full run.. 🤣

        • +1

Almost nailed it, only difference is the packs have come down in weight if you know what to look for!

We recently built a kit out in one of our retail outlets that was under 5kg and had everything you need to go camping/ trekking un assisted for a whole weekend.

          EVERYTHING.

It's awesome how far the equipment has come in recent years.

          • @Rob M: Holy what, 5kg?!

Solid! Just like my 3rd roll, hence my inability to participate in these activities.. 😪

        • +1

I did literally this on Monday, dropping off Mt Anne in SW Tasmania (though technically I don't use walking poles or cork hat :) ).

          • +1

@Doonish: Jealous, love Mt Anne, Head another 20km south for IMO Australia greatest peak. The Mighty Fed!

            • +1

@Rob M: Nah, I don't have a head for those kinds of heights! Good thing there are so many other ripper mountains down here…:)

          • +1

@Doonish: Sometimes you can't help it when going downhill.. Just don't let yourself snowball! 😅

I'll try and post for you if I come across any walking stick and/or cork hat sales. 😉

    • Almost everyone that does practical shooting sports wears these.

      • Thanks for the tip, we get some new hunters through our retail stores, I'll let the teams know that the speedcross is a common option for sport shooters.

We sell heaps to hockey players.

These are our most popular model amongst hunters

I have had multiple pairs of SEEDCROSS since the 3's.

They do not last as long as a normal shoe. Id say 1/5 the time. My current pair look brand new, but the sole is already gone. Jus normal use, no running etc.

    • +1

So true! Great point, trail shoes don't last anywhere near as long as road shoes, my two cents is if you are using your normal shoes for 5x the amount of milage as you are your speedcross' you probably aren't doing yourself any favours. Modern shoes generally have a midsole made out of EVA or PU, both of which will lose its ability to rebound and compress after 1200-1500kms. Meaning you are more likely to get an injury/suffer muscle fatigue.

Our Athletes generally get 500-1000km use out of a pair of salomons before needing replacement, Obviously this depends on what they are doing, the ones out running ultra marathons on the lower end, the ones using them for hiking on the higher end.

If used on carpet or concrete extensively the lugs will wear through way faster than you would want.

I would suggest this is an unavoidable aspect of trail/hiking shoes, not the speedcross in particular as the kms we see tend to fall with in the same sort of range as our other trail options.

Let me know if I can help with anything.

  • @Rob M get the Osprey talon backpacks 50% off too mate!!!

    • +1

      I love your enthusiasm!

Our buying team are always on the hunt for bargains we can pass on to you guys, I'll keep an eye out for Osprey deals for you.

We do have a huge Osprey sale on at the moment with 20-50% off like half our Osprey range until end of Feb.
In our marketing emails we titled it our "Biggest Osprey Sale Ever" which is a truthful statement.

      https://www.wildearth.com.au/search-results?q=osprey&sort%5B…

      • We love a bargain in here Rob! I picked up a Kuhl stretch waterproof jacket 50% off from you guys on the weekend. Amazing specs for $130! Slowly picking up equipment for the Kokoda Challenge as budget allows.

  • Ooh just had a pair in my cart and it disappeared. Price is back up to $206.95

    • Nvm price is back down! Just bought. Thanks!

      • Strange, let me know if you have any other issues!

        • I have had a few things in the sale unexpectedly changing price today, can’t pin it down though

          • @Mintchip: I'll send an issue report through to our tech team to let them know.

  • How come no-one ever stocks smaller sizes? Always starts at 8.5
