Got one and I liked it. Good deal.

  • My wife and I enjoy this and the Lavazza Espresso Barista Perfetto Beans - will hop down to Coles and grab another bag. Thanks.

  • All the Lavazza 1kg bags are half price.

From Wednesday they have "Vittoria Mountain Grown or Organic Coffee Beans 1kg $22" if you prefer.

Massive coffee snob here, have tried pretty much every hipster blend in Australia from $20-150 per kg, and have to say, Aldi's Lazzio Medium is probably up there for best taste/value for money.

    • What roast date do you find is fine? My aldi has 21st jan right now so i guess we are usualylly 3 weeks roast date

      • Honestly it's usually fine up to a month prior to opening, I vacuum seal my beans in a storage anyway (I use airscape), I don't get too caught up in finding the perfect roast date etc. I even once had a batch that was roasted 1.5 months before I opened it, it was really fine.

        • I was going to buy an air scape. Do you find they work well? Ive just been freezing the bag

          • @Sestrooper: It's all about slowing down chemical reaction rates and oxidation.

Your airtight bag in the freezer is as good as it gets.

        • I even once had a batch that was roasted 1.5 months before I opened it,

          😱 😱

Within a month is best, but vacuum seal and freeze 250g portions, keep it for longer.

      • Where's the roast date? Only ever find best before date?

        • +1

Printed backwards under the best before date

    • what about the Brazil/colombia/deluxe Aldi?

They're all decent to good, it's a matter of taste preference, the medium roast is perfect for milky coffees. I'd go with the single origins if I were having an espresso.

you will notice everyone is different regardless as everyone has different taste buds…hahahaha might be nice to you but horrid to others.

no denying that, i have friends that prefer Nescafe blends over this stuff.. can't argue with their tastes.

    • Another vote for Aldi medium roast. anything within a month of brewing seems great.

    • How would you rate the blends from Lime Blue Coffee? I've bought my dad their Moments to Memories blend and he prefers it to the Lazzio Medium, but obviously it's not as cheap.

      • Much better than Aldi. Most local roasters will be. I have tried all the Aldi beans, and although price is good, taste for me is one dimensional with no depth of flavour. I know others like it and good luck to them, for me i prefer better.

        • I don't mind using aldi in between, I've ordered some limeblue again at 40% off. The 500g bags freeze pretty well. 2.5kg for $75 = $30/kg, so double the price.

Better off comparing Aldi beans to other supermarket beans.

          • @G-rig: He didn't ask about other supermarket beans…

            • @Snowy83: Ok well of course Limeblue is better if double the price when it's 40% off (so for your comparison pal it's more like 3 to 3.5 times as much).

  • Haven't tried this Lavazza in particular. But Woolies usually have a once a month coffee special and you can usually pick up a kilo of either some of the Lavazza or Vittoria varieties for $19-22 a kilo. I just wait for that to come around.

  • Aldi - SA - currently have some Medium beans (roast date 5/1/24, and 21/1/24). Dark Beans (only seen 5/1/24).

Have tried both, both are excellent at the moment (was a few poor batches of all types last year).

Ironically, the Luxe is all old (Oct 23)..yet the most expensive.. They got that marketing wrong. Should have went with 250g bags at say $7 each.
