eufy Security Dual Cam Wireless 2K Video Doorbell + Homebase 2 $399 + Shipping ($0 WA/BNE C&C) @ Access Antennas AU

110

eufy Security Dual Cam Wireless 2K Video Doorbell, with HomeBase 2 (E8213C12). Cheapest I could find at the moment at about $100 off what most other places are charging, though it has been cheaper in the past ($349 from Access Antennas a year ago).
Shipping to NSW showed up as free, and past deals have shown BNE/WA shipping from them to be free too.

Can also price match with JB if you wanted to get one locally - they had no issues price matching via online chat.

I recall some comments on earlier eufy bargains about home base 2 being shite

      Yep.

We moved house last month and our Eufy system has been offline ever since. Homebase refuses to stay connected to the new wifi. Very disappointing given the years of service we got from the system at the old place.

      • Is it a new Wi-Fi point that maybe has something like smart 2.4-or-5GHz switching?

      • From your message I'd assume the new wifi might be bad then.

Everything else works fine. But, as the previous commenter mentioned, it may have to do with frequency switching.

          • @john71: Update: Eufy customer service was very helpful. They had me check the power supply and it turns out I was running only 1 amp. The power supplies had got mixed up during our move. All is working well with 2 amps.

    • Not sure why you got negged, on the Eufy owners FB page the majority of the issues are users with Homebase 2. I have Homebase 3 and no issues at all. Definitely worth upgrading. I've seen people selling new ones on FB marketplace for like $250.

From what I've seen the homebase 2 doesn't have the ability to expand the storage (and only 16gb built in) - eufy were planning to allow that via firmware upgrade (even has USB on the back, so should have been possible) but they never did. Homebase 3 which does have expandable storage is almost as expensive as both camera + hb2, and still only comes with 16gb built in.

    • I have homebase2 and would not recommend. It's painful to maintain, can't bulk delete easily. Can't extend storage, just painful

JB HiFi had the E340 doorbell and homebase 3 for $279 the other day lol

    • The E340 deal doesn't come with homebase that I can see..

    • I bought that.. did not come with the HB3

      • My bad, I bought the S330 pack first then added the doorbell

      Foil wrap

    • firewall? and have this only accessible from AU IP address?
Although even that, overseas people can VPN to AU network and hack yours….not sure…

        • Hi BubbleIce. I am using an Asus router (92U). I am unsure what you mean but your not suggesting that this doorbell wont work with an Asus router are you?

        • With Asus, you could block the device from accessing internet (from their UI).
And then you install tailscale on raspberry pi and access the camera through Tailscale (note: tailscale is similar to VPN, but I found it easier to configure).

Alternatively, you could also try install merlin-wrt firmware and install AMTM to install various add-ons, like ad-blocker (Diversion) or firewall (Skynet)

    • You would want it all wired if you're concerned.

Ah yes, those deliquents walking around with RJ45s, sneaking inside and plugging into people's CCTVs :)

  • Some thought for food: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14926827/redir that I learned this week.

Eufy doesn't seem to utilise your home network to connect the devices to the homebase, so doorbells, cameras etc. need to be in certain range of the homebase. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Some of the newer cameras, like the e340 door bell, can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi and don't require HomeBase. They have 8GB local storage and just show up in the app as if it was connected to HomeBase. If you want the video saved back to the HomeBase rather than the inbuilt storage you can enable the function, but I believe in this mode, the camera is connected to the HomeBase Wi-Fi.

So, if you doorbell gets stolen, and not connected to HomeBase, you will only see a single image of the thief in your notification as the video will only be saved to internal memory. A bit of a silly idea for items that are easy to smash and grab.

  • Had the Homebase 2 for the past 8 months until recently the storage failed. Being onboard storage meant the unit was useless. Sent back to Amazon for a refund and have since purchased the Homebase 3, delayed delivery so haven't used it yet. Hoping it is better than the 2!
