  Why would I want to give my details to a bookkeeping firm. They are not real accountants. More follow up calls..

  All Zero does is download the bank statements and you code the transactions. Only good for a small portion of businesses. Business owners with more substance will struggle with Zero.

  MYOB Live Accounts is coming out next month. Will be interesting to see how it looks.

    First, this deal is not for everyone. Dont say something you dont know. Go to XERO site and check it out.
    Second, MYOB live is just a replica…already in the mkt for more than a year…i think y are out of date.
    Third, dont see bookeeper lower than accountant. I see my cleaner as important as my doctor as long as he does a good job.

        Having been using MYOB for our small business for 14 years now(my Dad anyway, I joined more 5 years back) its not a bad package(this is not live) but we've been looking to migrate for a while now -

        1. horrible support, they don't know how to support it basically
        2. the license issue is bad if your for more than a single user setup, to have multiple logins and run off server is not that sensible if you are bigger than few users.
        3. have to spend a lot of time(=money) on training, as the damn thing doesnt fit in to a user friendly, simple to learn system

        Our accountants been trying to move us for a while to Xero as well, but its not that simple a transition and probably easier at EOFY.

        Anyways only my take, but there's a lot of good talk about Xero and I cant understand why people are switching over frankly, MYOB is a pain to deal with.

        Totally agree with you. I am myself an accountant. Using MYOB for 7-8 years now…writting an Ebook on MYOB and askingthem to allow us using screenshots for demo…and they want usbto pay 4k….criminal!

        The new version PURPLE MYOB is the pain in B….slow, cranky, some reports not working, it will kill them.

        XERO is a winner…at least they are generous to us and to our customer. In term of training, you dont need to go anywhere to learn it….all video training are free in their support site.

        I used XERO from day one to my business….save me 40 percent of my time. Our fee is also 40 percent cheaper than MYOB bookkeeping.

  Not sure about bad MYOB Support.

  Every time I call, it is answers professionally and my issue is fixed. Their online support notes are very good with screen shots.

  Micro business can use Zero and others but if you are actually making money and need proper accounting information then MYOB or to a lesser degree QuickBooks is so much better.

  I can't imagine doing 70 sales invoices on Zero as well as 150 purchases per month.. no to mention payroll.

  If I change to Zero then I lose all the history and my comparisons .. why would accountants recommend this if you have a business that has been around for more then 3 years? New micro business people may be but existing clients?

  If my accountant said this I would change accountants as they clearly do not understand how an accounting system works or how a business owner uses it.

  Most people need to pay extra to change to Zero (set up a new system) and then create such a mess that they will need to pay their accountant double to fix it all. No wonder accountant as pushing for the change in systems. To them its a lot of money.

    Hi there,

    To be honest, I love MYOB as the way it works before the New version of Account Right released mid this year.

    MYOB.com.au/supportnotes is the great support portal!

    I understand MYOB from back end to front end…never got any issue that I can't fix in MYOB. So I have no offence with MYOB.

    60% of my client are still with MYOB and I don't recommend them to change to XERO as it is still work for their business & their system.

    XERO however is now my favorite! As I mentioned above, it save everyone time so does cost…in this economic condition cash is king! Our average bookkeeping fee for MYOB is $500 per month, XERO is $300 per month…so customer end up saving $2.4k per year for a better system.

    You probably have never try XERO…let just sign up for a trial, no harm…I normally tell my client that whatever MYOB can do XERO can do it better…If you sign up for XERO and found anything that MYOB can do & XERO can't please let me know I am happy to give you free consultation.

    Changing accounting system is not that hard, just like changing a car…
