Amazing sound quality, they dont seem to be sold many places in australia.

Well, would say ok .. not amazing .. also depends if you like the sound from horns or not.

However, not a bad price - given - again if one likes the horn sound, but also relatively easy to drive.

      • What are some good speakers?

        • +2

          KEF Q150

          • @beatsntoons: I have the Q750s and they are wild.

          • @beatsntoons: Do you need to have high quality audio sounds or can you enjoy them on your PC with Netflix and gaming?

            • +1

@borgainerz: I have mine with a desktop PC. You just need something to drive them like a small amp and DAC. Plenty of good options coming out of China these days.

But they’re also awesome for say, rear speakers in a 5.1 setup or even fronts if your budget is tight. Or for ATMOS but they’re big for that.

I have a broad selection of KEF and Q Acoustic speakers in my house, and they all sound great. Sound is subjective though.

Bowers & Wilkins 800 series running off a Krell amp go well.

@Michael1983: Hope your wife's boyfriend will appreciate it.

      • relatively easy to drive.

        These are powered speakers.

        • Yep - missed the P kinda.
Was thinking the PM with price and somehow was thinking the M for the rest.

@Sal in SA: Lol. Rags on the speakers and doesn't even know what model they are.

  • Do you know the diameter of the cones?
It doesn't say on the item's webpage.

I have two sets of Logitech z-5500s how this compare

    • +8

I feel bad for you (.

      • They sound fine and are better than 99% of PC speakers? Not as good as $10,000 home theater yes. I have an old set on one of my PCs that is older than my house.

        • Two year old house maybe ?

      • z-5500's still go for $200+ on eBay

    • Lol

    • +2

The z-5500s go lower due to the big sub, Frequency Response: 33Hz - 20 kHz
These Klipsch have a Frequency Response: 60Hz - 20 kHz.

Very little online about this, that makes me cautious…

How many can install in a Honda Civic?

    • +1

Many if you have a trailer.

      2 otherwise.

r/hometheater does not think too highly of Klipsch. I have a 5.1 set of them and I think they are good, but I am no audiophile.

I think the average joe will love speakers like this, but there may be better bang for your buck around if you research.

    • +3

No, Audiophiles will tell you that certain Klipsch speakers are excellent. The RP-500M II is an outstanding pair of speakers.

Glad to hear it. Just sharing what I read on that subreddit after I got my set.

        I have:

Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-500M II Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) - Colour: Ebony KLP-RP-500M-II-BLK
Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-504C II Centre Speaker - Colour: Ebony KLP-RP-504C-II-BLK
        Klipsch SPL-120 12" Powered Subwoofer - Ebony KLP-SPL-120

Some love the sounds of horns - others not so much.

        • +1

yup reference premier is better than basic reference series .

  • Do yourself a favour and wait for this instead.

  • I have a klipsch 7.1 home theatre and it’s great, can’t recommend. I am definitely not an audiophile though

New Meme: It's great, can't recommend

  • +14

I have these speakers. They sound great. I'm not a paedophile though.

    • +4

      Glad we cleared that up

  • Are these made in China?

    • Yes. Only the high-end line is made in the states.

  • There are so many good Aussie made speakers out there!
No need to buy Chinese …..

    • Can you please share some recommendations? I am looking at speakers right now.

My 1st choice for HT speakers.

    • … but no suggestions. Hmm.

  • So, for a home user, what is the actual use case here. i.e. exactly where would these be exceptional (and why).

    • For me they are setup as rear speakers in a 5.1 setup. But I imagine you could use them standalone hooked up to an amp to listen to music or tv or whatever. Would be better than the inbuilt speakers on a tv.

  • Good to know someone still making proper powered speakers

  • Yeah these are amazing, had a similar set for almost 15 years now and still as good as the day I got them. Worth every cent.

  • I've got a pair of Klipsch RF52s running off a Rotel amp and they sound incredible, even 10 years later.
Can't speak to the powered speakers but I think it's common knowledge Klipsch make excellent speakers but go elsewhere for amps.
