  • The funniest part is the price to Guangzhou is like $900 return.

Feb - Mar flights MEL to CAN (Guangzhou) via Chengdu or Haikou is around $550 - $650. It seems like they like people to pay more for less.

    • +1

Direct flights are always more expensive as they are considered a premium product and there is generally more demand for them. Whacky to pay less to fly further but this is why

      • What happens if you do not complete the 2nd leg…

        • The rest of your flights will be cancelled by the airline

          • @CheapFlightHunter: Return will be cancelled?

            • @pgsheng: Yep. You will be counted as a no show and the other flights in your itinerary will be cancelled by the airline

they call this method "skiplagging" and airlines dont like it.

While it's not illegal, airlines have ways to punish you and you won't be able to fight them.

  • Wow

  • Any deal for Brisbane coming up soon?

    • I hope so! China Southern are flying from BNE again, but as it just started there isnt enough volume for these cheap fares yet

  • include Hong Kong or Guangzhou would be nice

    • Just added Guangzhou from Sydney - its a great price if you don't mind a long overnight stop on the return. The outbound flight is nonstop.
Unfortunately not working from Melbourne - those are around $1200.

      • Does the airline provide accommodation for 27 hr. layover at Shenzhen on the return leg ? And can we go out and tour around during the layover period? Thanks.

        • They should provide accommodation. It depends on your booking class but in my experience they are quite lax with it. And yes, you can go out and check out the city during your stop - they have a 144 hour visa free transit policy.

  • Tried booking on china southern airlines and it doesn't move beyond the phone number page. Even to look at the fares, it wants full details of the person looking

    • That is very weird, I booked Sydney - Rome last week through the Chins Southern website and didnt have a problem.

    • Are you booking through https://oversea.csair.com/ ?
Just did a test one myself and not having an issue.

  • Same here. Can't select the date of departure. Always data error.
