I like to mix my decaf and regular for a half-caff. How similar is the roast between these two beans?

Imo It might be worthwhile releasing a short-run half caff or 2/3 decaff bag just to test the market waters. Seems there's an ever nuanced appetite for coffee, but a similar worldwide uptick in sleep hygiene strategy.

    • i would like to try this blend too

      • +3

Duly noted @jk23423432 it's on the to do list and I'm always excited to do new coffee experiments, fingers crossed the results are amazing!

    • +7

@Unotifoso never heard the term "sleep hygiene strategy," something about that brings a smile…perhaps if I launch a cafe:decaf blend I should call it "Nightcap."

There is a different between these two profile in terms of end temp and development %, but comparing these two I believe you should be able to blend then to create a tasty, chocolatey coffee!

Sincerely appreciate you taking the time to provide this helpful input, we have had several suggestions about this, so it appears the demand is ever growing. I promise experiments on this from are on my to do list and is I can create something I'm happy with then we'll launch a blend to test the waters :)

    • +1

I've tried mixing the two before and it's not bad.
I'd also love to see a half caff

      • Hey @glasswire appreciate the helpful feedback!

Request added to the "duly noted list :)"

    • How do you know you are getting an exact mix if it's all in the same bag? Pretty sure whatever bean is lighter would end up near the top.

      • Hey @miicah I can see where you're thinking has gone, but don't worry if we did it we'd ensure we mechanically blend the various components for uniformity and wouldn't just put the components into a bag in their separate forms :)

  • Whoo hoo! Love the Brazil Sao Paulo :)

My latest bag arrived yesterday, so was the perfect time for a new order to go in.

    • Absolutely fantastic to hear @MyOtherOtter it's so wonderful to know you understandably (of course an unbiased comment from me haha) love our Brazil São Paulo Single Origin!!!

I love the timing has worked out perfectly for you and thank you so much for placing another terrific order with us, your continued patronage is truly appreciated :)

Your ignorance could've saved you even more if you didn't move past International Roast.

Tried another bag of aldi coffee, dont know why i wasted my money. Talk about 1 dimensional, no depth of flavour at all. No better than any other supermarket bean att all, these were roasted on the 11th Jan 24 too so freshest aldi beans i have bought to date. I dont get the hype i really dont!

      • +1

        Cheap.

      • -1

Aldi Brazil is very similar to Brazil São Paulo Single Origin in size, colour and taste. Could be the same bean, but a third cheaper at Aldi. Other Lime Blue beans have more appeal.

        • +6

Hey @sepa personal flavour preference is subjective, so there's no issue at all with you personally finding the two coffees to be similar :)

We generally don't comment on other companies, so I won't get into a whole lot of detail about the specifics of what Aldi uses. However, I will say I can promise you with absolute certainty our Brazil São Paulo Single Origin is not the same as the Brazil Aldi use. I'm confident on this because I know what they use and the importer they get their green/raw coffee from. I even once had a fleeting thought ages ago of roasting the same coffee and competing on price, then my brain kicked in and I realised what a bad business decision that would have been on so many different angles. I have no issue with Aldi selling coffee at all. In fact I think it's likely a good thing for the market as it lowers the initial barrier to entry for people to commence their journey into the world of making coffee at home. The more people that make coffee themselves the better for the market as a whole. Usually once someone commence the journey and enjoys the experience, then they start exploring and trying different coffees. From on objective perspective our Brazil Single Origin has a higher cupping score, and notable flavour differences overall especially within the levels of sweetness and acidity.

I'm wrapped to know you've found the differences in our other coffee and may I say thank you so much for your order and feedback, it does mean a lot and we don't take the orders nor communication for granted. If there's even another coffee you think tastes similar to a lower priced coffee please send us an email as the solution will likely be a simple tweak of your extraction settings :)

      • Agreed, tried it a couple of times and they weren't good. It's good if you're on a budget but saying it replaces the ones in this deal is abit…ehh

  • +1

@LimeBlueCoffee I've ordered your previous deal for a March delivery. Is it possible for me to add a decaf order to that delivery?

    • +2

      Love that idea @Chinerama !!!

We can certainly make that happen for you, simply send a reply email to your order existing order confirmation with the request, from there we'll send you a special payment link and then you should be all set :)

      • Hi OP
        Thanks and email sent.

        • Received and replied to @gr8m8sam :)

Thanks you so much for your order!!!

      Same question here.

      • :)

  • Placed order

    • Amazing @bargainhuntr thank you so much :)

  • +2

Great coffee, have purchased multiple time and happy to support small businesses. But would like more detail on here/website/socials about where/how you operate. In your back shed, rent/borrow someone elses equipment, full fledged coffee shop etc ?

    • +3

Hey @su3050 thank you so much for that fantastic vote of confidence and all of your terrific orders thus far, it truly does mean the world to us!

haha the "in your back shed" made me chuckle a bit, not that there's anything wrong with back sheds in general, as it's a good place to start a business and go through the transition phase of hobby to business…we use a commercial warehouse space. We're not currently set up from a time perspective to have customers visit, as we're pushing the limits every day to get through dispatch and do a better job every day. However, we may potentially do some open day type tour/tasting later this year, if we do we'll likely announce it via our email newsletter :)

      • All good, thanks for the reply. I don't want to visit and probably in another state, but like to see/know where things come from, transparency helps from a marketing perspective. Couple of photos etc.

  • Are the Brazilian SO beans medium or dark roasted?

    • Hey @DeeArrow always better safe than sorry, so I'm glad you're double checking!

We roast our Brazil SO as a medium omni roast :)

      • Thanks, ordered :)

        • Fantastic @DeeArrow thank you so much!!!

  • I've gone through many 1kg bags of your Brazil São Paulo and each has been fantastic. This deal came just in time for my refill! ☕

    • +1

WOOHOO for perfect timing, love when that happens!!!

Thank you so much for another fantastic order and your wonderful compliment, your continued patronage and vote of confidence is truly appreciated and something we won't take for granted :)

  • I tried Brazil SO and Decaf before, and both are great, ordered more.

    • +1

Amazing, thank you so much for another outstanding combo order!

Sincerely appreciate your terrific, complimentary vote of confidence @Dmytro it's brought a smile to this side of the screen :)

  • Free shipping means snail mail?

    • +1

That's good for beans. They're roasted on the same day as they're shipped. You need about a week for beans to degas before drinking for optimum results.

      • It takes about 10 days to arrive in WA. Not ideal for me.

        • +1

So place the order 10 days earlier?

    • Hey @carlJack appreciate the double check!

"Free shipping" means a parcel will be sent via standard post. However, you're welcome to upgrade to Express if you should wish, just send us an email after you've placed your order and we'll email you a payment link for the cost difference :)

  • I was just thinking I'm running out of the Thank You blend so need to order more.

The last decaf roast was extremely dark and hasn't played well with my setup. Are you able to confirm if the most recent batch is similar?

    • Hey @flagsarefun sincerely appreciate you ordering our Thank You blend recently and I'm happy to know you've enjoyed it enough to come back for more!

Our Decaf can play mind tricks…the green/raw coffee is notably darker than normal caf green in general, as such the roasted Decaf is darker as we're starting with a darker colour than normal coffee. Although our Decaf appears darker in colour from a technical perspective it's actually a lighter roast than our Thank You blend which looks and is a medium omni roast. You would need to adjust your grind setting when switching from our Thank You blend to our SWP Decaf due to the porosity level differences between the two. Swiss Water Process is the perfect example of "don't judge a book by it's cover," as the appearance is a dark roasted, bitter coffee, but the reality is a light-medium roasted, deliciously sweet, chocolatey hug in a mug. Our Decaf profile has not changed in recent times. If you even find a coffee a tad tricky to dial in please don't hesitate to reach out to us via a reply email to your order confirmation :)

  • How long should coffee beans be removed from the freezer before they are ready for use (if freezing them)?

    • +4

you can grind the beans frozen, straight from the freezer

    • +2

I found a few hours after freezing the beans are good to brew

      • Sincerely appreciate the answer assists here @KiKH and @DINGUSS !

Always better to ask than wonder @Westpac so I'm glad you've taken the time to reach out. Generally speaking the colder the beans the better the extraction, simply because frozen beans are more brittle, as such you should be able to grind finer with more even grind particle distribution. As such you're welcome to grind straight out of the freezer, or wait until the beans have thawed so you don't need to make the slight potential grind adjustment between using frozen and thawed beans :)

        • Follow up question - should i be freezing them right away or wait until 2 weeks and then freezing them. 2 weeks being the recommended time to start using the beans?

        • Hi @LimeBlueCoffee should i be freezing them right away or wait until 2 weeks and then freezing them. 2 weeks being the recommended time to start using the beans (if thats correct)

          • @Westpac: Hey @Westpac nice follow up question!

If you're going to pre-portion the coffee prior to freezing into single doses or amount you'll use within about a fortnight then wait 1-2 weeks from the roast date before freezing. If you think you'll keep the coffee in potions you think you'll consume within about a month then freeze as soon as the good stuff arrives :)

  • I say this everytime I see this deal but the single origin Brazil is by far my favourite coffee! I always try different coffees (usually 1 bag of of these followed by something different) and nothing has beaten these yet!

    • WOW @dvsbastard what an absolutely wonderful vote of confidence that is to read, I'm wrapped to know how much you've been enjoying our Brazil Single Origin!!!

Thank you so much for your continued orders, support and I'm glad you're still trying new exciting coffees with us in addition to sticking with your "favourite :)"

  • Those who say this coffee is good are you just comparing it to what gets posted on ozbargain or beans used in popular cafes? I'm used to cafe beans and don't want to "downgrade" and be disappointed

    • +1

We like this coffee rather a lot!

But we do buy from some of the other OzB regulars - in particular Inglewood 'Roosevelt'. Roosevelt IS used by a couple of cafes that we visit - and they make a nice coffee (perhaps better than I can do at home?).

So, I'd say that the LB Brazil São Paulo is well up there. I'm not buying this time because we've just received 3Kg of LB Brazil SO from a previous offer - and the freezer can't cope with more!

  • I want to order enough for free shipping, however won't be able to finish all the coffee in time. Would you recommend freezing the extras?

    • Hey @lookin4guuddeals sounds like a potentially terrific order in the works!

100% I'd recommend freezing another bags you don't think you'll consume within about a month of the roast date :)

      • How long do beans last after taken out of freezer and thawed?

  • I'm super new to making my own coffee at home (bambino plus for Xmas).

Since then I've tried the following beans:
    - a local roaster which i totally screwed up because I didnt know what I was doing
    - campos superior
    - campos decaf
    - sacred grounds groover

I was quite happy with campos superior as it was a brand/taste I was familiar with (flat whites). Yes, I'm certain the more experienced of us may chuckle at that.

Anyways, I took a chance on the Colombia Cauca deal which Lime Blue posted previously. It's just incredible, I put the rest of my Campos beans into the freezer as an 'emergency' beans.

Customer service of Lime Blue is also just fantastic. I will certainly be a repeat customer.

  • Hi @LimeBlueCoffee ,

Can I freeze the beans in its sealed bag packaging?

    Thanks.

    • You sure can @Timosage :)

  • Can anyone recommend a grind/temp setting on the barista pro? About to try this for the first time

    • Hey @khoaaa thank you so much in advance for placing your first order with us, it will be so appreciated and an opportunity we won't take for granted!

Grind settings can vary from one Barista Pro to another due to the amount of usage and calibration of the burrs. Once you're fresh coffee arrives feel free to send a reply email to your order confirmation with any extraction questions you may have :)
