BRINGAFRIEND

Hello all
Repeat of previous offer Alba thermal hot springs 2 for 1 offer.

More cost effective way to experience this place for those curious. Glad I took advantage of it the previous time as personally felt for the all the aesthetics, it had an eerie/sterile vibe. Peninsula hot springs has more personality and though it's pricey too, it's cheaper overall than Alba. YMMV though.

Agree with OP thoughts. Went to Mornington earlier this year and tried Alba as the 'new' hot springs in the area. Whilst it's brand spankin new (grand opening was about a year ago i think) and everything looks nice, I overheard another guest comment that it looked like a Bond villain's lair and they were kinda right. For all the 'modern' design, there's a heck of a lot of concrete everywhere and just weird spaces sometimes. The place still looks great, the staff were friendly and we did see a staff member who's sole job was to go to every pool and test all the water constantly, so that was really good.

The pools themselves aren't huge or are shallow with not a lot of difference between, so even with 22 of them they mostly felt the same. Unlike the other hot springs down the road, Alba only has 1 wet and 1 dry sauna. The majority of the pools are about 40degrees, so don't bother going on any day that is over 25degrees or you'll just cook.

My biggest gripe with Alba? The ungodly number of mosquitos that attacked when the sun started setting. At first it was, "oh hey, there's a mozzie flying at your face" and within 30 minutes every single person there had to get up and leave (about 8:30pm) as it was truly unbearable and you'd have 10 mozzies on you at any one time if you stood still. It was like something out of a horror movie. DO NOTTTTTT get the Night Owl tickets that are only valid 6-10pm.
I've been to the other hot springs twice and there wasn't a mosquito problem at all, but maybe we went to Alba on a bad day. It still gave me a terrible impression of the place though.

We were chatting to some of the other guests who mentioned that Alba doesn't have kids prices so most families go to the other hot springs. There is a noticeably smaller number of kids running amok at Alba, compared to the other place. So, if you can go during the week, during the day, then this is a decent deal.

Also, the restaurant at Alba is expensive and not worth the prices they charge so don't bother. I don't recall any low-cost options either, just $25+ entrees and $40+ mains. Very underwhelming.

    • sassypants agreed re food too. When I'd visited, was going to 'make a whole day of it' but quickly changed tact to eat externally first when I saw even the bagel option was approx $25. Best ever spa massage treatment received was the hammam style in Turkey, but with the Australian prices, it's better value to wait to experience it again it in a European trip instead.

Peninsular hot springs isn't all that great either. I don't think they actually filter the water, which is filled with dead skin etc. Just jump into the first pool and look at the surface and you'll see tons of it float on top. Caught foot fungus from there too. Ugh!

Try the hot springs in Warrnambool.
My wife and I love it.
Lots of variety (we love the caves where you can wander through) and different temperatures.

  • I much, much prefer Alba over the Peninsula Hot Springs. The facilities (Locker/Bathroom) are MUCH cleaner and nicer at the Alba, also, robes are included.
It also seems to be much, much quieter there.
Thanks for posting OP I just purchased for next week!

  • I think the prices are wrong. Adult is $120 and concession and child are $80 for daytime dathing

    • Thanks jerrybeans. Had copied and pasted the previous deal details. Updated to the new, increased prices. All the more reason to try the place out when this deal is avail it seems!

  • Alba is very much like a Bond villain lair, very sterile and unwelcoming. It gives off a weird vibe with everyone marching around in the same robes and my biggest bone to pick with them is how staff try to enforce the no phone rule. Mate come on, I’ll use my phone if I want to, I’m not in jail.

But then again, it’s so much more quiet than peninsula hot springs, that I obviously had to get this deal again (lol) thanks op

  • Not sure what I'm doing wrong but it seems like the promo code doesn't seem to get applied at checkout?

    • I had the same issue, however if I manually type in the code (even though it is the same as the one that is automatically applied) it worked.
