JV neg votes shouldn't count towards the daily 5 neg vote limit

        • -6

What daily 5 neg vote limit ?

    • I thought it was great.
Gave me an expensive drug rehab centre from the movies vibe, but good hot springs, and you can really smell the sulphur as opposed to the other hot springs. Its not as natural as the other place though.

Very relaxing and would definitely recommend the early bird, but probably wouldn’t pay $110 for it.

Have any ozbargain members been to this newly opened business and can share their experiences?

      Jessica

  • +5

Yup, I've been. Would happily do it again, if not for avoiding the hordes of people like the other nearby hot spring.
In any case, it's just a quieter and more relaxing - which is what a hot springs should be anyway.

    • A weekday is empty for both places

    • You mean the other state sponsored overcrowded and overrated theme park?
Can’t believe they got taxpayer money to keep on building and expanding that shithole

      • What are you referring to? The Peninsula ones?

        • +2

Yeah. Last time I went there was a banner outside about a new expansion with new pools and facilities partially funded by the Victorian government. I’m all in for government investing in local business but this place is literally just a water park that enjoyed a total monopoly for years and it shouldn’t need government support. Money could be better spent elsewhere on the peninsula.

anyone knows if there is a time limit? The website doesn't specify..

    • it says: thermal springs allow 9 hours

      • hmm. copy and paste and you'll see "Allow 2 hours". 9 would be great but they are greedy…

I assume it is not natural hot spring ?

    • It is all-natural

      • Pee is natural I guess

  • +3

But does it beat 2x Anova cookers, a bathtub and a bag of magnesium bath salts from Woolies?

  • +4

$100 for one hot spring session…? Damn I miss Japan and their $1 public bath.

    • +4

Commute to Japan is a pain tho, isn't it?

      • yeah but you can go for 2 weeks, get a 2 week bullet train pass, and then go to the snow for ages and do all the other amazing stuff cheap !

  • Voucher doesn't work at the moment, any update?

    • Still works for me! Might have to enter it as a promo code not voucher code

  • Doesn't seem to work anymore. Nothing happens after promo code applied to the price.

Went to Alba during Xmas - New year holiday , highly recommend
It's nice and clean , really fancy and luxury, they maintain good number of bookings each timeslot.
Robe and locker included without extra charge
Food is high standard and resonable price.

    • How many cold plunge? How cold?

      Is the sauna good?

How's the sun shade? The old one across the road is older, with many grown trees

  • PSA:

Took opportunity to take the deal and went last night 😊

While the place is indeed amazing, relaxing and extremely well maintained, there is something OzB need to be aware of…

    Food is ridiculously expensive 😲

Towels cost $5 extra and DON'T come with a smile.

    Highly recommended otherwise.

    • +1

No towel? but it states it is included in your booking…

      in the FAQ it states:

What is included in my booking?
All bookings include access to a range of outdoor mineral pools including geothermal pools, a rain pool, cold plunge pools, botanical pools, forest pools and a sunset pool. We also provide you with a towel, bathrobe and locker.

    • Went there last week, free towel and bathrobe were in the locker.
Agree about the food - quite pricey! The quality is excellent though.

$400~ Jetstar return Japan special when they do it, $10~ for an onsen daytrip x10, $50 per onsen visit averaged out.

  • Does anyone know if you can BYO food like the Peninsula Hot Springs?

    • From their FAQ:

Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Alba is fully licensed, and food and alcohol needs to be purchased onsite.

    • Food in there is reasonable price and good quality

  • Just got back. $110 for two adults is good value for something local.
Note: The pools are mostly outdoors with not much shade. Suggest to bring a hat/sunnies/water bottle (I'm not a fan of sunscreen in hot mineral water though, but I got sunburnt as a result…). They write the locker number on your bracelet which rubs off easily, it would be good to record it on your phone if you have short memory span like me.
Also made use of the steam and sauna room. The robe/towel/bath gel were of good quality.

    • I googled the venue and yeah I saw very little shade, it looks very new, fancy but minimalist.

The older one nearby is very leafy and fantastic. I really don't like the look of this one as a sun allergic white guy.
