      did you forget something?

      • sorry??

I think damox was referring to jv's lack of bold tags, no jv comment is complete without them.

        • +2

damox's post was a reply to jv, not you. Replies are offset (for the first few at least, after 3 or 4 I think they stop aligning properly which can cause confusion).

    • they stop aligning properly

      huh?

why needs an expensive flash drive?

rather get a 1/2 TB WD Passport for 99/199..

That would look great on my keyring.

  • Be warned. Its USB3, but slower than a decent USB2 drive…. really disappointed with the performance. Great price though

    • I was just about to ask the transfer rates. Can you provide some real life performance info? Would be great.

Hmmm do you have any test output you can post? I took delivery of a Kogan 64GB drive today and while not exactly lightning fast, it's reasonable, certainly better than any other usb stick I've got.

Warning: Only 60342 of 60435 MByte tested.
      Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
      Writing speed: 35.1 MByte/s
      Reading speed: 62.9 MByte/s
      H2testw v1.4

The warning is due to it being NTFS.

If you have H2testw output you can share for the Lexar, it should help the punters who are after something like this.

    • How could no one see just under the heading that it says:

Key Flash Drive Dongle Retail 45MB/s read 20MB/s Write

      • Claimed performance like this rarely if ever match real world results but those are ordinary enough to be almost believable, why would they make up such crappy numbers :)

Amazingly, the results I got from the Kogan device exceed their website numbers of 60MB/s read and 30MB/s write so maybe honesty is slowly creeping into some of these claims afterall.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop the infernal blinking on these things when they transfer files?

      Hammer.

If it's the same as the Lexar Firefly, I feel your pain…

      Tape

      Permanent marker.

Liquid paper or a paint pen could do the trick too. I've tried markers on bright LEDs before, tends to just change the colour a bit or minimally reduce the brightness. Maybe I tried the wrong sort or brand as well.

Guys, if this is a bit too expensive, for 5 dollars less, try the post a week or so ago - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/81655. I bought one of these and it is pretty good. The claims made on the Ebay site are not outrageous and works great under USB 2.0 as well. Tested about 4 times faster read and write than my 16gb Sandisk USB Stick. The free delivery took about 4 days too.
