Thanks for sharing! Maybe add to the description that the code BOOST17 has to be added to get the $17 sim card.

    • +1

      Code not working!!!

      • +1

        same, not working

        • For the sake of testing, I tried it and BOOST17 worked fine on the $45 plan a sec ago.

  • Still getting the something went wrong even after 3 months… guess I’m completely blacklisted by Boost

    • Same

    • +3

Check your Telstra ID and make sure you use the EXACT same details for the Boost order. Seems to be a backend check that’s brings the error if it’s not an exact match.
This “fixed” the issue for me after months of trying.

      • I did enter the exact details that’s on my Telstra account. Still the same error for the last few months

        • The other factor is they randomly just dont seem to like particular cards - perhaps try another

          • @King Tightarse: I’ve tried Westpac debit card and BOQ. Haven’t tried my other inactive card bank accounts

            • +1

@BargainsGrabber: The best shot is your exact Telstra ID details and try different cards. I also think it just fails you after a few attempts so you might have to wait. Their system is just ridiculously touchy.

              • -1

@King Tightarse: Nah doubt that’s the case

I haven’t tried since the last profited Boost deal, and whenever there’s one, I only tried doing once or twice

I still think Boost blacklisted my ID and I don’t have any active Boost service anymore (my main number has moved to amaysim)

                • @BargainsGrabber: All I can say is that I went through the same dramas over and over again until I used my Telstra ID details exactly. It still doesn't like my Westpac card for some unknown reason - I have to use my other bank and it works every time.
Maybe have a chat to customer service and see if they can help?

                  • -1

@King Tightarse: Boost chat is useless
I might pop by a local Telstra store and asked them what my details are

I also tried with a fresh new credit card and it didn’t work either

                    • @BargainsGrabber: You will get there. It basically stonewalls you until you find the right formula. I found the customer service by phone OK

      • I've double checked mine are the same, still no luck. Going to just find another option for a while.

    • -7

If you have more than 2 services with Boost previously you can't activate online. Need to call or chat to customer service to activate.

      • +9

Thats not correct I have about 10

        • That's what I have been told every time I need to activate a new sim. Always chat to them to activate

          • +1

@SR9: I have registered many over the last couple of years without issue.
My personal experience (when activating) is to: a: Use the same account credentials each time and b: to use the same ID that was used on your existing account for the ID check.
This way everything matches the existing account and SIM gets added to the rest problem free.

Purchasing: It doesn't matter what credentials or email you use as that is unrelated to the activation part.

      • 35*

      • I had this problem, but works when you sign in to activate

      • +1

Wrong, I have about 20, all activated online. I did have the same problem as you initially but eventually figured out that if you can't do it online, then you activated using different combination email and ID and the details doesn't match up on their system.

Just make sure you stick to 1 combination of email and ID and should work every time.

        • +1

Just make sure you stick to 1 combination of email and ID and should work every time.

Unless your account is flagged, in which case you can only activate via CS.

    • got this today for the first time, cleared the cookies for boost/telstra and went through the second time

      • My experience is once you find yourself needing to clear cookies, you are one step away from getting banned. I suggest using different person details altogether (partner, parents, close friends etc.)

I don't know for sure tho

  • +4

looks like free money back on the menu boys!

    • Shut up and take my money.

  • +2

Only 2 of my past 3 boost sim shop backs back in November have come in. That was the deal on the 1st of November.

I want to do it but it freaking sucks when you have to chase it up etc.

  • +1

They are not specifically mentioning the Boost17 code on Shopback but they do mention the deal

    • Found this as well. Holding off until SB lists the BOOST17 code. They mention the deal but not how to buy the $45 sim for $17. Not risking it for $2 only.

      • If you use the code on the Boost site you get it for $17 and it says 'up to $19 cashback' on the Shopback linking site.

It mentions both on the Shopback page linked above.

    • +2

Yes, strange. The deal on Shopback says "Shop the $45 SIM for just $17" but no mention of BOOST17 on Shopback or the Boost Mobile website. So where does the promo code come from? Just from the deal yesterday?

  • Yay! Been waiting for these to come back. Hopefully they happen regularly again.

  • +2

Shopback hasn’t even approve any of the boost I got in November. Is that normal?

    • I made a comment about this. I had two from the 1st of November approved. Seems like a while especially when it said approved by the 26th of Jan.

    • I bought 2 Boost Sims in November and got 1 approved today, but not the other one.

Not sure if it was because one was activated then ported out a few days after activation?

      • No, just wait and see. I think lots of people made the purchases on that day. Two of the three are approved for me, together with the $15 bonus during that period.

        • None for me yet:(

          • @rpb: The last one is approved today. I think all purchases on 1 Nov are now.

            • @Neoika: Yep last two at 2:40am and the $15 bonus at 3:40am.
Thanks for your assurance along the way wasn’t sure ShopBack Boost would be as reliable as CashRewards :)

    • I have a $22 one that is due for confirmation today but remains pending for now.

      • +3

All 3 of my $22 came through earlier today, so hopefully yours are not too far away

        • Meats back on the menu boys! It just came through. Hope it comes through for everyone who loves the boost sim train.

  • +2

I nearly pulled the trigger but think I will hold off until we get a definite yes for the BOOST17 code.

    • +1

Boost discount code has been always eligible and it is listed on the affiliate promo page.

      https://boost.com.au/pages/exclusiveoffer

      • +1

Thanks Neoika - what is affiliate promo page, I haven't seen that?

        • +3

Someone posted it in a previous deal. Cashback sites are just one type of affiliates.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Been waiting for this deal to come back

  • Does anyone know if you have 'Prevent cross tracking' and 'Hide IP address' in the Safari Privacy settings enable it blocks the cashback?

    • “Prevent cross tracking” will probably block it. Buy it through the ShopBack app.

      • I can't remember - do you get a 'we tracked your cashback' email every time (like with Cashrewards)? If so right after the transaction?

        • +1

Its not as fast as cashrewards but you do get a tracking confirmation

  • Can you use a 365 day boost sim pack after this?

    • You seem to be able to use as many as you like (but I get a fresh number each time, not sure about if you're porting).

    • +1

If you want to port from a monthly to a 365 day plan, you can call them. In my experience, they will do this as a one off as they are a different type of plan.

  • +1

Down to my last 9.6Gb on previous ones. Had a load last year that I missed the 30 day deadline (so no cash back) and once activated this year also didn't get the Bonus data, so ended up paying the $12-17 for only 20-30Gb. I should be banned from OzBargain for that.

    • Did you for sure not get cashback on the late activations?

      • -1

It used to not matter but the rumour is they are getting better at tracking & declining that now so be more careful about activating within 30 days.

        • -1

I prefer factual info to rumors so I'd still like to know wfd's clarification but thanks for replying.

          • +1

@ozilicious: Have 2 from Dec w/ SB, not sure on one of them, maybe last day or a day or two late, the other one was 7 days past.

Have some still unactivated from Sept and they approved, just don't know if it was CR or SB, leaning towards CR.

            Will let you know.

  • -7

how are these deals even worth the time investment lol

just buy long dated sim/plan and forget about it

    • +3

Er coz it's free! In fact a profit even.

    • +6

Many don't do it for the $2. For me I use it as a second roaming number and/or for mobile data rather than using my primary mobile number (esim) which doesn't have a lot of data. Can also stick it in Mobile Dongle as backup if NBN goes down. A second mobile number on hand can be useful especially as it is free.

      • -4

for a month? there are 12 in a year what you gonna do the other 11?

I see deals like this never going to do boost because it’s subsidizing this behavior lol

        • +3

          Buy 12 more

        • I buy one per month so end up with one active.

Other: Every 3 months or so, I call Boost and get them to delete the oldest x3 from my account so as not to accumulate too many expired ones.

          • -4

@Borg: i rather spend my time losing money trading markets

          • +1

@Borg: Much easier via web chat. Just have all the information ( ID, mob numbers, etc) on a notepad and paste to the chat window.

          • +1

@Borg: You don't have to call them.
It will be gone by itself after 6 months

            • +1

@AsukaST: True indeed but just a personal choice i.e. not having too many SIMs registered under my single account (not that it matters as I rarely have more than one a month) :-)

      • +4

Me too. Main number is an annual Woolies E-sim. Effectively free with the 10% off shop deal.

Then using these Boost sims as internet data. Was doing that with phone hotspot, but recently bought a 5G 4x4 MIMO modem and antenna and getting 100-120Mbps compared to 50Mbps on NBN that costs $50-70 a month. I'm away a lot too, so like the casual contracting of these sims.

        • What did you buy 4x4 MIMO modem?

          • @Sidor: Cudy P5 dual sim

            • @wfdTamar: Makes my Deco x20 4g look like a peice of crap, will never have 5g where I am but with external antenna it can hit 100+ mbit.

              • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: Good 4G is fine. I have a Telstra 5G tower about 1.5 km line of sight from me. Got a Poynting XPOL-24 (4x4 MIMO) antenna. Thought I'd be well up there. Getting a bit over 100Mbps too. I haven't tried fiddling with moving the antenna as I can clearly see the tower from it.

All I gain from the 5G at home is a higher upload speed (as fast as down) which means diddly to me.

Hoping to use the Cudy in my motorhome with a directional antenna & omni directional one.

      • +1

I have my main number on amaysim, $10 a year. Then every 28 days activate a Boost sim on a new number. Use that for data and any calls I need to make. Free phone plan and the shopback pays for my Amaysim credit. You get way more data than a 365 day plan this way as well.
I loaded up on Boost Sims when Zip had that amazing cash back deal. A years worth of Sims and $80 cash back.

        • +1

……loading up with many on single occasion doesn't work well as they all need to be activated within 31 days of purchase to gain the cashback, in turn all expire within 28 days of activation so only good for a month.

          • @Borg: I normally buy 2 of these when this deal pops up.
you activate the 1st one after you receive it and another one at the 30th day so you get almost 2 month worth of free usage.

        • Does your outbound number change every month then? I know a few people who won't answer phone calls from numbers they don't recognise/aren't saved as contacts!

          • +1

@Charlie Dont Surf: I don't make many calls tbh but for times like that I WhatsApp them that I'll be calling. Its not an ideal set up for many people but for me it's a free phone plan with loads of data.

            • @JamesLucas: Can't agree more. People differ from people. Most of my calls are to the hotline, service providers, in which case any odd number is fine to use. Calls within family mostly via Internet nowadays.

          • +1

@Charlie Dont Surf: You get an annual plan (Woolies, Amaysim) for your phone use. The Boost are just for the data.

You need a dual sim phone or one that can do E-sims. Or put the Boost in a MiFi, modem or second phone to Hotspot off.

      • +1

I use these deals for data cause I have two sims. It has saved me soo much money

  • +1

Something went wrong with screwed up address, so screwed up my name, dob, different email along with screwed up address and bingo.

    • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat Did you have a new payment card too?

      • I use zip pay so every order is different payment details.

    • +1

Thanks, tried this with a one time used card and it works

    • +1

@HopSkipJumpFallSplat Thanks for the tip about dob.
Previously something wrong too when I screwed up name, address with different email and payment method.
Did all the above with screwed up dob this time and worked.
@BargainsGrabber My first purchase in more than 2 months. Bought one for my spare phone. Tracked in an hour.

      • +1

Glad to hear you got it to go through.

      • -1

Same, hopefully my postie can recognise a different addy that doesn’t exist with an A or B lmao

        • Should be fine, I use 3 addresses, have to mess up all 3 at this point, 1 is dealt with at post office and goes to a PO box, other 2 a postie has to deliver and changes I make, they always get delivered.

Don rd becomes Donn rd/Ddon rd
Badger Ck rd becomes Baddger ck rd/Bbadger ck
Changes like that they can understand pretty easy.

        • Mine is with an extra E lol

    • Did all of the above no luck. I dunno if my IP is blacklisted im not out of different cards no after this try so going to take a 3 month breather see if I it works when im back. To add to this for a data point i've tried firefox, opera, chrome and edge across previous attempts.

      • Did you also give a bogus phone number?

        • yeh gave them a different mates phone number.
