  • Great deal for those that can get one, good luck guys!

  • No DD-WRT for this, correct?

    • -6

DD WRT is mainly for routers. This is a modem router.

      So no.

      • Are you sure this device has a modem as well?

        • No it doesn't my bad.

Bad reviews from amazon about dropouts, no replaceable antennas aswell. Don't think DD-WRT/Tomato would help this much

Edit: this isnt listed on DD WRT supported devices.

Ok, call it a $13, 4 port GE switch then? :)

        • I don't even think this has 10/100?

edit: Ok 4 slots, not Gigabit

        • Then it shouldn't be described as "N300", if you can only get data into it at 100Mbps. The maximum speed you'll ever get is 100Mbps, unless you are transferring between two wifi devices which are both in range of this router. Then the bandwidth will be shared between the two devices - so each will see 150Mbps?

The only way I can see to achieve the "N300" rating of 300Mbps is to have three NAS drives attached to this router by ethernet, and having your mobile device downloading at 100Mbps from each of them, simultaneously. Not a realistic situation.

Still, a very good price, even if you think of it as a "100Mbps" version of a wireless router.

        • uwotm8?

Not sure if troll or troll.

When do you ever get the theoretical maximum? You'd be lucky to achieve 100mbps. Also, just a heads up to everyone… I bought this router at the previous $19 deal and it has connectivity issues for wireless.

  • It is only a router - no modem.

For VIC: Dandenong, Cranbourne, Chirnside Park, Box Hill & Traralgon also have stock.

      thanks, added to the description

  • Will it work well to boost the Wifi Signal around my house? I have a Belkin Moden / Router as my main one ATM

  • I'll admit its a good deal for $13, however for my needs I think Ill take a different route and get something like the D-Link which supports DDWRT.
Just have to wait for a similar price to this $22 from HN http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/79512

    • I thought DD will run on this?

    • A lot of the TP-link models are also fantastic with openwrt/gargoyle. I've got 3 running it and absolutely zero issues (far better performing than the billon I was using for wireless+modem, which has just been downgraded to being used as a modem)

  • I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff. Why should I buy it? I have a wireless modem/router already.

    • +1

      Because its an ozbargain :)

On a serious note, if your router does not meet your needs and if this one is better then that would be a reason to buy it, but there are heaps of better routers out there, it all comes down to what your needs and spending criteria is.

    • lol if u already have a wireless router that you're happy with then dont buy this one. I bought this one to replace my ancient dlink G router. Works a lot better and has more range.

  • East Victoria Park OW in Perth metro had a few on tuesday

  • hey guys biggest problem i have been having with my belkin G router is that it struggles i think due to a number of devices being connected to it ie. laptop, tablet, phone, ps3. How many devices would something like this be able to connect?

    • Definitely more than a g router. You'll see a massive difference with an n router.

    • 16 according to the specs on the belkin site

  • +1

Can I use this to extend my existing wifi network? My bedroom wifi signal is not very good.
    Thanks in advanceļ¼

    • Good Question

    • Yes i have read that the N300 does have wireless bridging mode. I wish i could buy this online. Hopefully they have this in stock tomorrow.

  • -3

They have to pay me to buy this crappy router

  • If only this were a modem.

  • If only I can buy online and pick up in store

  • QLD: Woollongabba sold out.
Apsley and Strathpine had about 9 units each when I called. Ipswich had some as well, can't remember number though.

  • Thanks OP, got the last one at Osborne Park.

Does anyone know if these can do bridge mode?

  • Auburn and Lewisham, NSW out of stock.

  • Bought same1 from Harvey Noman for 39$ couple of months back :(

  • Castle Hill is sold out.

  • Punchbowl sold out

  • i ahve an netgear modem router to get voip as well
not sure as an older newbie of what else I need to get if I just get a router, apparently I need a modem as well etc and so the gateway netygear dg834gvis what I am stuck with.
my PC is not wireless and apparently the wireless does not cover my printer [samsung ml laser 1865w] as well.
or my fuji xerox laser mfc docuprint m 205b
what I like to know is the next best value for money upgrade
not into buying iinet gear as OzB seems to have beeter offers always.

  • Dandenong and Box Hill are sold out. Cranbourne still has 2 in stock.

  • hmm this vs my currently doing ok old netgear 2000 v1

  • I grabbed on of these in the deal a while back.

Wireless has been fine. Only issue i seem to have is occasionally not giving my PC an IP when i turn it on. I have to go to diagnose connection issue and it resets the adapter and gets an IP.

Could be related to the PC but it wasn't doing that on the old dlink I was using before. Hasn't been enough of an issue for me to bother trying to fix yet.

  • There's 2 sealed ones and an damaged box one left at Watergardens.

  • 2 left at Airport west.

    None in Highpoint

  • Thanks OP, I managed to pick up the last one from the Richmond (Melbourne) store, they were hiding it at back of the store.

  • got hardly normal to price match today down from 129

  • Thanks OP, I managed to pick up the last two on shelf from Officeworks Campbelltown (NSW).

  • Now down to $10 - great buy if you can get one
