Penrite Full Synthetic Engine Oil - 10W-40 6 Litre $43.99 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Supercheap Auto

270

For those, like me, wanting JASO MA bike oil, this oil offers the EXACT same specs as the 4ltr motorcycle oil that retails for $100.
On sale till the 4th Feb. I believe this is the same as the Vantage full synthetic offered elsewhere, different labels to avoid price matches.

I checked the specs on the Penrite site. Looks like same oil in different bottle to me.

I bought it as well under the same expectation… found a few confusing forum threads on my bike and using full v semi synthetic but hopefully the Yam CP2 in my XSR700 is as hard as its reputation

        • I am running Castrol Power 1(Semi-Synthetic) now and have this Full Synthetic to try next and compare on my VStrom.

      • Other than the Ca content, Mass % 0.132 that seems to be missing from the bike oil. No idea if it's an issue, but it's a difference it seems.

        • The MC 4ST 10w50 oil has a very similar Ca content rating to this one. So shouldn't make any difference to suitability.

From memory, the main difference between motorcycle and non-motorcycle oils is generally additives to do with the wet clutch components.

I think as long as it is JASO MA (which this is) then its' fine for motorcycles with wet clutches (which most have).

  • Haha, figures, I bought some 5W 30 last week, cheapest I could find it was $65. Oh well.

    • This doesn't state it meets the JASO MA spec. It's ACEA A5/B5

  • Reckon this would work for my 20 year old laser or should I go semi or mineral? It's the right rating, just thought full synthetic might be too thin.

    • My 26 year old Nissan loves it. Check your specs. Thought the focus was from 2003 in Aus running 5/30. My old laser used 10/40

  • I have no idea on how to do it. Could someone please update the cash back to include Shopback?
