You wish for Australia Day to be abolished?

        • On the contrary, the closer we get to 261 public holidays per year, the better 😛

A key point though, is that I am not interested in what the public holidays are about.

    • If you want something from them and it’s in stock on the same day you can get the gift cards, that’d be alright

But yeah, I wouldn’t hold out hope for the future

thanks mate so 8x $100 gift cards looks like 2 trips to woolies as limit per day.

now need to check if you can use more than one giftcard with ikea.

    • Checked today at the local Woolies, the shopping gift card didn't have IKEA listed on it. I am sure it was the same card that was in the catalogue.

      • +1

If you saw the Visa version of the Ultimate Style/Shopping gift card, that will work at IKEA, even if the IKEA logo does not appear on the physical gift card packaging. IKEA was only added as a participating retailer in late July 2023, and the source of truth for participating retailers is the Ultimate gift card website (not the physical gift card packaging). I talk more about that here if you want a more detailed explanation.

If you saw the eftpos version of the Ultimate Style gift card, that will not work at IKEA.

(If you do not know the difference between the Visa and eftpos versions, have a look at this entry in the FAQs linked at the bottom of OP's description.)

Thanks heaps @WookieMonster. Got one and exchanged online for an IKEA gift card.

    • That turns out to be 10 percent, right?

Only if you value the ER $ as the real $. Many don't.

  • I want to use the gift card at Officeworks. What's the difference between Ultimate Kids, Teens and Students gift cards?

    • The only difference is which store they are accepted at

    • +3

From Officeworks’ perspective, none. They all appear to Officeworks as prepaid Visa gift cards.

      From your perspective:

      • The three gift cards have different other participating retailers (but that seems to not be of concern to you).

      • Woolworths sells Ultimate Students, Teens and Kids gift cards in different denominations. This is especially handy if you want to buy something really expensive and either want to do this on the online store or 1300 OFFICE (where you can only use a maximum of 1x Ultimate gift card as a payment method), or you want to do this instore and minimise the amount of time you spend redeeming Ultimate gift cards at the Officeworks checkout:

      • Ultimate Students: $30, $50
      • Ultimate Teens: $30, $50, $20-$500 variable load
      • Ultimate Kids: $30, $50, $50-$500 variable load
      • Possible to switch multiple cards to Officeworks gift cards and use multiple in one go?

        • Yes. I have used 5 cards in one transaction. Just told them it was a prepaid card that works via EFTPOS and didn't even tell them what kind it was.

  • Does anyone know if i can price match with officeworks over the phone and then use these gift cards to pay?

    • No, gift card to be used instore only even office works own gift card must be used instore only.

      • That’s strange, because the Ultimate gift card website says Officeworks accepts Ultimate gift cards on the Officeworks website.

I also know of a couple of people who used one Ultimate gift card as a payment method over the phone.

  • The good guys giftcards, can they be used for good guys commercial?

  • +1

Any problems with using these gift cards for applie products?

    • +10

I assume you meant Apple products?

You will generally be okay with using Ultimate gift cards to purchase Apple products at participating retailers. I am not aware of any policies from any participating retailer saying that you cannot use Ultimate gift cards to purchase any Apple products.

However, there are some edge cases you should be aware of.

      Instore transactions

I am not aware of any of the participating retailers selling Apple products having redemption restrictions for Visa cards (which is what Ultimate gift cards really are) coded into their instore checkouts. The OzBargain redemption records for Ultimate and/or TCN gift cards in one transaction at JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and Officeworks are 99, 54 and 27 respectively. If you are going to make a purchase instore, remember to tell the staff member you want to redeem multiple Visa cards, because the Ultimate gift cards pictured in this deal operate on the Visa network. A participating retailer handles the redemption of these Ultimate gift cards the same way as any other Visa card.

However, you could have a staff member unilaterally refuse to do split payments across multiple Ultimate gift cards (or enforce an arbitrary limit, e.g. a maximum of 5 Ultimate gift cards redeemed in one transaction). It is unlikely to happen, but you never know.

      Online transactions

As far as I am aware, all participating retailers can only accept 1x Ultimate gift card in one online transaction, because participating retailers do not have the ability to split payment across multiple Visa cards on their online stores.

      To get around this:

      • With JB Hi-Fi, you can go to the Ultimate gift card exchange portal (linked on the Ultimate gift card website) and exchange the partial or full balance of an Ultimate gift card for a JB Hi-Fi gift card. You can redeem an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards in one transaction on the JB Hi-Fi website.

      • With The Good Guys, you can go to the Ultimate gift card exchange portal and exchange the partial or full balance of an Ultimate gift card for a The Good Guys gift card. However, you can only redeem a maximum of two The Good Guys gift cards in one transaction on the The Good Guys website.

      • With Officeworks, I do not think you can get around this, because (1) Officeworks is currently not on the Ultimate gift card exchange portal and (2) Officeworks does not officially let you use an Ultimate gift card to pay for an Officeworks gift card (or Coles Group & Myer gift card).

      "Commercial" portals

JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys offer "commercial" portals (JB Hi-Fi Business / JB Hi-Fi Solutions and The Good Guys Commercial, respectively), where you can access a selected range of products at "commercial" prices.

With JB Hi-Fi, their terms and conditions effectively state you cannot use Ultimate gift cards on their "commercial" portals. I also saw someone comment last year that they could not use an Ultimate gift card on a JB Hi-Fi "commercial" portal, but I am struggling to find that comment…

With The Good Guys, I am not sure what the current situation is. In the past, you were able to use 1x Ultimate gift card on the The Good Guys Commercial portal and you could also ask for a sales order to sent to a store for payment if you wanted to use multiple gift cards as a payment method. However, The Good Guys appears to have been cracking down on this…

      Apple gift cards

You will probably not be able to use an Ultimate gift card to purchase an Apple gift card (and if you think about it, an Apple gift card is an Apple product).

      • Clause 3 of the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions states you cannot use an Ultimate gift card to purchase any gift cards or vouchers at participating retailers.

      • JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks have policies in place effectively saying you cannot use Ultimate gift cards as a payment method for any gift cards sold in their stores (including Apple gift cards). (I am not aware of any other retailers in the Ultimate gift card scheme currently selling Apple gift cards.)

      • Officeworks updated their instore checkouts in June 2023 to automatically block Ultimate gift cards (even ones stored on a mobile wallet) if a customer was trying to use one to pay for a gift card. Officeworks also appear to have blocked Ultimate gift cards as a payment method for gift cards on their online store and over-the-phone at 1300 OFFICE.

      • JB Hi-Fi only recently updated their gift card terms and conditions to officially not allow the purchase of gift cards using Ultimate gift cards, so I do not know the extent JB Hi-Fi is enforcing this updated policy.

      • +1

        Thanks mate, really appreciate it.

      • So with JB changing their policies, does it include using JB GCs to purchase Apple GCs?

    • +1

Yes you can not use these gift cards to buy apple gift cards

  • “For variable card where you choose the amount to load, limit of 2 cards per day per Rewards Member in a single transaction.”

Is this staff enforced? Will I not get the points if I purchase more than 2 cards in a day?

    • +1

Based on the collect OzBargain experience in past deals, this restriction is enforced by the checkout.

In this (relatively) recent example, someone purchased two variable-load Apple gift cards across two transactions on the same day, but only received bonus points on the first transaction, because that Apple gift card offer had a very similar restriction as the one you quoted for this deal. As you can see in the example, that person relied on a goodwill gesture from Everyday Rewards to obtain the missing bonus points for the second transaction, but Everyday Rewards were in no way obliged to help them.

If I were you, I would stick to purchasing a maximum of two variable-load gift cards in the one transaction per day.

      • +1

        Thank you!

      • What’s the maximum variable you can load per card for Ultimate Mums and Babies? Thanks in advance

        • I have never seen a variable load denomination Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards stocked at Woolworths. I have only ever seen $50 and $100 fixed denomination Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards at Woolworths.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks mate. It looks like it’s the only one that has the good guys. And I need these to buy the Samsung tv that was heavily discussed haha 😛

      • limit of 2 cards per day per Rewards Member in a single transaction

doesn't necessarily exclude making 2 transactions of 1 card each, else it should be a limit of 1 transaction of up to 2 cards?

  • Can I use it to buy a MacBook? If yes, how would it work ? I am new to this so any help would be appreciated

    • I am new to this so any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the wild world of gift cards!

Can I use it to buy a MacBook?

You should be able to. I am not aware of any participating retailers having any policies that say you cannot use Ultimate gift cards to pay for a MacBook.

      how would it work ?

It will depend on the participating retailer you choose to go to, as well as whether you do this instore or online. I suggest you read this comment, as it contains advice relevant to you as well.

In your case, if you can, you should try to stick to the denomination where you choose the amount to load (i.e. the variable-load denomination), as it will take less time to redeem 1x $500 Ultimate gift card than 10x $50 Ultimate gift cards. Just be mindful of the restrictions Everyday Rewards has on earning points through this deal:

      • For cards with a fixed value, limit of 5 cards per day per Rewards Member (can be done across multiple transactions).
      • For variable card where you choose the amount to load, limit of 2 cards per day per Rewards Member in a single transaction.
  • Can I still get bonus point if I paid with my woolies gift card?

    • -1

      Yes

    • I dont think you can buy giftcard with giftcard. prepaid visa giftcard or prepaid mastercard giftcard should work but i dont think any other type of giftcard will work.

  • i just need students one easy.

  • Is $500 cards or $500 variable cards the max amount?

    • 2x $500 variable, 5x $100 fixed

  • This vs the 10% still on until today for getting a Macbook ($1300)?

  • Is that means I can purchase 7 cards one day.? Include 5 cards with a fixed value and 2 variable cards.

  • How is stock looking in the stores?

    • Brisbane CBD pretty good.

      Got 2 x $500, 1 x $100 to buy an Asus ROG Ally.

Still plenty more of the kids/teens.

      • yes, unlike last week with no stock of 10% off $50 TCN Teens, there seems to be plenty of variable Ultimate Teens this time

  • Can you combine Ultimate and TCN cards with one transaction at JB?

    • +1

Yes, they are simply split payments.

    • +1

      Instore

Yes (as long as staff let you do that and know how to do that, which they should).

Online (excluding JB Hi-Fi “commercial” portals)

      Not directly.

The issue is that the Ultimate gift cards in this deal and the TCN gift cards from brick and mortar retailers in that they operate on card networks (Visa
and eftpos, respectively). JB Hi-Fi’s website can only handle the redemption of one Visa card in an online transaction, and it is impossible to redeem an eftpos card on JB Hi-Fi’s website.

The current workaround is to go to the Ultimate and TCN gift card scheme websites and exchange the Ultimate and TCN gift cards for digital JB Hi-Fi gift cards. You can redeem an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards on the JB Hi-Fi website.

Online at JB Hi-Fi “commercial” portals

      No.

JB Hi-Fi’s gift card policies state that JB Hi-Fi gift cards, Ultimate gift cards and TCN gift cards cannot be used on JB Hi-Fi “commercial” portals (e.g. JB Hi-Fi Commercial, JB Hi-Fi Solutions). There is no option on these portals to redeem a JB Hi-Fi gift card on these portals, and I did see a comment on here last year saying that an Ultimate gift card did not work on JB Hi-Fi Commercial, so it looks like this is actually enforced.

      • +1

Thanks for the detailed response man

  • Thinking of buying 6k worth of Ultimate Kids or Teens to buy a TV at JB

Not sure what max value of the cards you can get are in store, is it $100 for fixed? if so then max of 5 per account per day so that means across EDR 2 accounts max of $1,000 a day

So would need to visit 6 days to get these and hope they have them in stock or be left short….

Then swap them for 6k of JB vouchers online and buy the TV online (or negotiate in store and buy in store)

    Have I got that right?

    • I just bought 2 x $500 (variable cards) and 2 x $50 fixed that exceeded $1000. The cashier told me it should not had exceeded $1000 but she authorised it anyway. You might want to check with your local woolies store manager

      • Thanks, did you get the points for the $1100 worth?

        • +1

          yes I did
