It's not a new movie, but the 3D version has only recently been released to the masses. PReviously it was only available with a Panasonic 3D tv purchase I believe.
Panasonic made a deal with fox to have the exclusive rights to sell the 3D version of avatar for 2 YEARS!!! its only just now being released because of that!
So what did they do with it?… they bundled a copy with ONLY the above $2,000 price range Panasonic TV's.. so there was only ever 2 of 3 models that came with it.
Panasonic were selling crap plasma 3D TV's they needed a gimmick to try and get buyers away from the completion .. the new LG Cinema display's are the best 3D TV's on the market at the moment with $1 dollar glasses from Hoyt's, Event.. working fine with them
also in store the 3D on the passive LG 3D looks better then the battery operated flicker 3D of Sony, Samsung and Panasonic
I'd disagree. Panasonic still has best plasma. LG is cheap junk, terrible PQ.
in 2012 not really, if you check out reviews of the LG 47LM7600/55LM7600 series it shits all over anything Panasonic has out at the moment. and blows it out of the water when it comes to 3D ( only glassless TV's ) are better then Passive 3D ( Cinema 3D ) at the moment

err, possibly, BUT at the expense of half of the horizontal resolution
LG TV's display 1920 x 1080 full hi def 3D content as 910x1080
they then interpolate the data (i.e. scale up electronically) to get things a little sharper.
look it up, LG TV's will only come into their own with the new Ultra HDTV where they will be able to show full 1080 hi def in 3D
Sorry, I've seen the Passive 3D - and it's crap. Half the resolution, does not look good at all. I have active shutter Panasonic 3D and I don't notice very much flicker at all, looks excellent, at full resolution. It's funny how LG don't advertise that fact.
That is the bad point of it yes.. .but my $1 dollar movie cheapo glasses are great :) i have 20 pairs now after hording them
Yeah I agree Pana PQ is top quality. But I have a Sammy and It's PQ is awesome as well. Plus it's in-built media player plays most files including DTS tracks unlike most others.
Wait till they release a giant glasses free 3D 4k HDTV…like looking at a oversized 3DS XXXXXL screen…

You can thank Pana for that. Bloody disgraceful. Not just them most of the others also had similar deals. They should not be allowed to do crap like that. Few months is one thing but having exclusive rights for years is just ridiculous.
You could do what I do in those situations, vote with your favourite torrent/usenet/vpn site! ;)
I then write to the distributor & tell them exactly why I pirated their movie! :p

I have a Sony 3D LED LCD TV and its Fantastic at 3D.
Nothing beats the Sony 3D Personal Headset for 3D content tho.

Big W already had this on the shelf when i was there today and same with JB Hi-Fi so you can already buy it off the shelf instead of waiting days for it to arrive from a warehouse. I think it was the same price off the shelf at Big W as i remember it scanning for slightly under $25. You all got suckered in by the pre order online only when it's already on the shelf today at the same price. It's not online only contrary to what the Big W website claims. You could be watching it tonight.
