Looking for a Swiss Army Knife - Classic

Ahoy,

I'm looking for a good deal on a specific model of Swiss army knife, the 'classic', AKA '0.6223'

I'm particularly interested in this transparent red model on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/Victorinox-0-6223-TB1-Classic-Tran…

But at $55 plus being below the international free shipping threshold, that's not a particularly good deal. I'd be okay with a plain red model too, but it would have to be quite cheap indeed.

Used would be fine too - but I can't find any!

Appreciate any advice :)

  • Amazon JP via AU appears to be cheaper (~$40)

Refer to my previous deal post for links

It's free delivery with Prime too.

If you prefer local stock - $32.95 Delivered @ Adventure Shop Online eBay

    • Even with prime, isn't there a minimum for international shipping?

      • +2

Nope, should be free with Prime; no minimum spend.

        • It's just my luck that the only colour they don't have is the transparent red!

The local eBay ones are pretty cheap, and local isn't bad also.

          Cheers!

  • $5.99 at Aldi…

    • Not Swiss army knife.

      • German army uses them…

    • Cool maybe, but not light and convenient for keyring carry.

  • I don't know what OP means by classic, but that's the small one. That goes for about $8 at the duty free. The "classic" has: big blade, small blade, flat screwdriver bit, bottle opener, small screw driver, can opener and cork bottle opener.

    • What do the Swiss army actually use?

The Victorinox Soldiers 08 Swiss Army Knife is currently the official knife of the Swiss Army. Literally, it's the knife they carry into the field.

        • I guess the Swiss issue twist cap bottles of wine to soldiers today?

          • @AustriaBargain: In my ( old times ) there was another model. The main use for the knife is Rifle maintenance, followed by cutting salami and bread and finally opening wine bottle.

      • The Swiss Army Knife was originally manufactured by a company founded in 1893 which came to be known as Wenger. in 1908 the Swiss Army split their contract with half of the order going to Victorinox and the other half to Wenger. Sales diminished as a consequence of strict security measures imposed after 9/11 which saw Wenger being acquired by its competitor Victorinox in 2005. If you're into collectables, you'll covet the 87-implement 141-function Wenger 16999

    • That's why I included the model number.

I'm not sure why, but many retail stores list it as 'classic' …

Yeah, the small is what I want.

  • I alternate betweeen carrying a Rambler and an Explorer, depending on what I’m wearing or might need. The Classic is great but I usually need a Philips so the Rambler is perfect for me.
If you’re going to edc it, I recommend a suspension clip.

  • This:

    https://www.top-gear.co.nz/shop/SHOP+BY+BRAND/VICTORINOX+SWI…

becomes NZD 31-22 after changing Cart country from New Zealand to Australia

But then produces an error about delivery price if one goes to Checkout

    • Thanks! I sent them a message about it.
