    Vodafail in my area

    • Agreed. Thought I’d give Vodafone a go after years. They have 5G now in metro areas, how bad can it be I thought? Well absolutely terrible in metro Sydney. Coming from boost and Optus I can clearly notice the difference even in metro. Carparks and hospitals have less signal or no signal/1 bar and unusable. I’ll get 4 bars 4/5G and websites will struggle to load. Be in the middle of Darling Harbour Sydney or 50m from the opera house and on 5G and getting websites struggling to load and on 1 bar.

Avoid the hassle and stick to Optus and Telstra…

      • A lot of phones don't use the 5G bands that Voda uses. Check out their coverage map and they ask for make and model of the phone v their coverage for that reason.

        • Unfortunately I did check out their coverage map and it showed reliable coverage in the areas I am in. It must be a separate issue if I am getting reliability problems in Sydney CBD on the newest iPhone.

Stack with code APPLOVE on a new email (App Only) to receive an extra $5, making the total $95.

    • code doesn't work on my android.
      perhaps it's ios only.

      thanks anyhoo

      • +1

Sign up for a new account, this code works for your first purchase on the Kogan App only.

  • Can we pay with gift cards?

    • +3

yes, i have used gc previously on sim cards on kogan.com

    • +2

      Yes, you can!

    • New customers has meant new number in the past. If still the same then should still work for porting

    • They now have 30 day policy.

    • Only for the first month.

  • Hope they have back to uni deal

    • Is it this one? This is the best, the voucher code could be used to recharge.

      • I kind of doubt anything like this for below $5 will ever come back.

We are now living in a post Covid19 bussiness re-set unfortunately.

    • Vodaphone and 4G

    • Vodafone 3G & 4G. Plus presumedly 5G.

      • thx

      • +3

no 5g only on the monthly plan

        • Correct. Even the X-Large $300/500GB yearly plan does not include 5G yet.

  • can't find any help or answer to this…I am with Vodafone, can I change to Kogan?

or do I have to jump to Optus or Telstra for a short while, then jump onto Kogan?

    • +2

I think you can, its not the matter of the carrier, but the company you signed with.

      see here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/489138

    • +1

They are different carriers, just using the same tower. You can change from voda -> kogan like any other telco jump.

  • Does this work on iPads?

    • +2

No reason why it won't. A data SIM and mobile SIM are the same thing, they just block calls on data-only services.

  • +4

Does this work on existing number with Kogan?

In TC&C's it says not for subsequent recharge but then it give you option " I am an existing customer and I don't require SIM card - Cost $100"

    Little confusing 😕🤔

    • +1

It should work without issue as we can select "I am an existing customer and do not require a SIM" from my understanding.

Can anyone confirm we can simply recharge existing plans with this?

    • Maybe subsequent recharge meant charge then charge again before expiring?

  • Do they (like TPG) charge an exit fee if you ever move away from them? eg. after 365 days i port out into another service such as Amaysim.

From my understanding TPG themselves charge $11.xx as port out fee.

Ps. Does Kogan have an app? Is the app decent and able to track usage and active esim etc?

    Cheers

    • +2

No fee to port out, yes they have an app and it covers most information you might want - can't see any info regarding active esim though.

      • cheers. I just signed up for my wife - actually went for the $180 200gb plan instead (no offer but I got that from amaysim for myself back then so was happy with it).

The activation instructions need to be read carefully, the sign up is abit tedious but we got there in the end. And the port out was really quick at this hour of the night!

Hopefully TPG (her previous one) doesn't have issues closing the account and not double charging herself.

        • From above comment sounds like there will be a $11 port out fee from TPG if info is correct ?

          • +1

@ozhunter68: Yes correct. From googling it seems some have successfully argued a refund of the cancellation fee but it was no luck for me when I moved away from TPG to amaysim.

Update: Kogan app is just a web based style app. You access it from the web just fine. It’s not like amaysim app which has really good onboarding eSIM experience.

            • @fuzzy wuzzy: For anyone else contemplating the move, I recently swapped my son over from a physical Kogan sim to an eSim, surprisingly everything went smoothly, and it was an easy process to complete.

  • +2

Anyone using esim be aware you will need to but a new $2 esim each time you swap phones even though you’re already on the plan. The process requires purchasing the esim then calling them up for a manual transfer.

  • Does kogan use the full vodafone network like boost does with telstra?

    • Yes they do as far as coverage goes, no 5g at the moment though.

      • Sounds like people on the Large month to month $40 plan are getting the 5G trail currently

        for same price.

        • That's correct, but not the small plan at this stage.

  • -2

great deal, but service sucks because its vodafone. also explaining why its so cheap

    i prefer telstra network.

the least i would go is catch connect since they are with optus if there is a great sale. i would get it for my kids. i can't use any other network other then telstra, i can't go back to vodafone or optus.

    • +3

if this is for kids then who cares? you get unlimited phone and text, basically for after school so they call if they need, lets not spoil them straight away

  • Does anyone know if you can pick up a blank sim from supermarket and use the voucher to save time waiting for SIM card to arrive? Cheers

    • Some 7/11's used to stock them, not sure about now.

  • -1

I just don't like the flex option of the data, it should just be monthly division. It's a.pity this would be ideal for my grandmother.

    • The Small month to month is currently $5 for new customers for first month, then $15 pm and get 10GB per month.

  • +1

Paying ten dollars a month with dodo, just want a once a year thing

  • +1

waiting for the buy one get one free offer…

  • +1

Damn I forgot to do this yesterday
