how would one get free phone from this plan?
Optus's 4G was really slow and disappointing for me.
Switched to Vodafone this year, its got 5G and I can feel the difference.I believe they want to clear the old stock. The plan supposes to be stopped for new customers weeks ago. It definitely a good deal and probably the last chance to get to the plan. The 60GB plan is no longer exists.
It literally says that on their website.
Ive used Optus years ago, no issues.
I recently switched to Coles mobile, i have found the reception mediocre at best. At work (Level 1 in city fringe) the recpetion is intermittent.
Which of these SIMs (Woolies, Coles, etc) have full Telstra Network - I think Belong - Any other one?
Boost
Boost, and you can get it for free sometimes on cashrewards
The current Amaysim 1 year starter pack deal at Woolworth is better. Same Optus, $125 but also get 2000 point ($10) back, so makes this $115.
Did you not see the Coles deal has 5,000 Flybuys points? Equivalent to $25.
Oh, I didn't notice that. Thanks for pointing it out.
I guess the difference is $100 vs $115, and Woolworth/Amaysim get 140 GB data vs Coles 120 GB data.
Telstra & Boost offer FREE International Roaming unlimited incoming / outgoing calls & SMS to Australia (not other countries) via WiFi Calling when connected to WiFi
Does Optus / Coles offer such a free service
Would like to know as well
No. Optus wifi calling is only in Aus.
If you're a person who travels overseas even once a year then Telstra MVNO might be a better option.
I read that if you use a phone/router to make a VPN connection to Australia and then wifi hotspot to the coles phone it will work as the wifi calling registration will appear to be coming from an australian IP - i have not tested this
Do you know which 12 month Telstra and Boost plans offer this free international roaming service? I had no idea such a service existed with free international roaming calls with wifi. Does that mean you only need to get pocket Wifi or a overseas mobile sim with data to receive and make free calls/sms to australia?
I have the Boost $230 12 months plan and it has worked in all the countries that I traveled including US, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia and India.
It works flawlessly on iPhones including the older XR but some have had issues with Android phone.Having a local data mobile sim in the same phone will NOT not work as you need to be connected to Wifi
Some people claim they can use second local data sim for wifi calling on first sim on some android phones - eg https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/3w8ykw1v
Sounds far from foolproof though.
$150/120GB was $119 previously without 5,000 Flybuys points, so this is even better value, works out to $100/120GB/365.
Do team members usually get $20 off? Last year a friend bought for me, he got further $20 off from $119.
Can Catch port to Coles directly?
Damn should've waited, already bought a $119 sim from Catch.
Good deal.
May I ask the old person question? I will be traveling to the UK later this year, Would I be able to make calls while there using this, saving the hassle of trying to put a sim card in on arrival
Yes - if you buy an "add on" roaming extras pack ($25 when I last used it) - lasts 30 days. That's good for about 25 minutes of calls (they charge $1 per minute in most places). 12 month pre paid Amaysim might be better for you. Their $20 add on roaming pack lasts 12 months and gives you 100 min of calls and 100 sms (no data). Amaysim 12 months pre-paid was $125 in Woolies a week or so ago - but not sure if that deal is still available.
The Kogan 120gb deal is back to $100 if anyone is interested.
Possibly less reliable, also 0 country international calls included, so for the same price, Coles is likely a better deal.
When do you have to activate this by?
30 days from Purchase.
After that may still work (since this not a bonus data deal) but at your own risk.
Best to confirm with Live Chat and take screenshots or email transcript.
I intend to buy some to be activated in mid to late March (within 75 days).
just checked with Chat, as long as you activate within 24 months. i have saved the screenshot to dispute later if it is not.
That's what they told me last year, they didn't quote 24 months, but mentioned it's good for many months after 30 days.
Somehow I'm the destinated person responsible to "recharge" for family members and relatives, so every January I have to start looking for deals. :|
the Chat mentioned 24 months. i have less than you, only the destinated person responsible to "recharge" or "port-out or port-in) for my household.
@dtingy: *designated
That's my job too. Anything even slightly technical or financial. lol
Is the boost party over now? If so, I will consider these yearly plan.
Yes and Boost is ridiculously expensive now.
If you want the extra data not so much. However, you need to buy when it is discounted.
That might suit new boost customers. My recharge is going from $170 to $230. I'll.be churning (especially as I've used v. little data)
@roonie: Others have said if you chat to customer service they might give you the discount for the recharge. Might be worth a try anyway. Part of the reason we told Colesmobile to rack off is they were removing our old service and wouldn’t give us a discount on the new.
@try2bhelpful: They offered me $200. I said I’ll pass. I got the impression that they understood that their current strategy (of not offering recharge discounts) was flawed
Guys, what happens if you buy this pack and dont activate by the date (or 30 days from purchase)? - Apologies in advance if questions seems Noob
great deal but I wish this had more data allowance or a bigger pack. 10GB per month is not enough in this day and age for most.
I got 150GB upon activation without doing anything special.
For people looking to recharge, I asked Chat if there is an expiry date. They said there shouldn't be any, but check the voucher.
So I will ask the counter first and if there is any expiry date, can I get a refund if the date is before my current expiry date.
Does Cole’s mobile support wifi calling ?
Yes, but only while in Australia
Is this the same plan that was $119 a few months ago or does it have extra features?
Great plan and good coverage in Perth but pixel 7 doesn't support volte.
Vowifi works but won't allow free overseas roaming like how Boost does.A word of caution..I was with Coles 12 months (for the international minutes really) and I would constantly have the mobile connection drop. If I was listening to Spotify or a podcast it would often drop and the connection would only come back on if I engaged flight mode on and then off. Incredibly frustrating when driving.
I'm with Amaysim now, so still Optus and no issue.
There areotsnof reviews pine with people saying the same thing about Coles. I'd never go with them again.
Amaysim slightly better than Floptus. Also owned by Floptus
There is Shopback Westpac upsized cashback of 15% capped to $20(today only 17/Jan). Gift card purchases are excluded. Does anyone know coles prepaid is eligible for cashback?
Seeing this is an outgoing plan, while stock last, went to get some this morning.
Because it is classified as gift card, there is a limit of 5, so split into 2 transactions.
Haven't done this for a long time, to port out then back in, would a $2 SIM kit work (for example Vodafone)? Can it receive verification code via SMS without any top up?
Not sure about Voda but Aldi starter pack is $5 & comes with $5 credit. It uses the Telstra network.
Vodafone is $1: https://www.binglee.com.au/products/vodafone-dollar2-prepaid… :D
Bargain if it works, worth a try for $1.
@WatchNerd: The starter packs from Bing Lee are really old, they are from early 2022, guess that's why they are clearing them out. Was initially concerned they might have been expired. The back of the pack says expires 365 days after purchase if not activated, but I don't remember they did anything during checkout, so Vodafone wouldn't know when was it purchased, therefore these packs should be good for a long time.
Anyway, there's a major blocker, Vodafone activation requires minimum $10 recharge. Have searched for workarounds, there are none. So don't try the port-out-port-in trick using Vodafone. Bought a few of those packs, what a waste even at a dollar each.
Bought 2 today 12pm, flybuys scanned, and now still no points in my flybuys account, wtf
Activities on the app seem to be about 2 days behind
Got the bonus points somewhere between 24 and 48 hours. Never had so many points setting in the account before. :)
If anything, seems to have missed out on a 10% discount on purchases over $70, didn't know and wasn't activated until after the purchases.
Maybe prepaid phone plans (gift cards) don't count.
Last year was on Coles mobile. Had never been able to send SMS to China to invite contacts on Facetime. Logged multiple calls and talked to the team for many hours, no fix. They just let it be without any follow-up.
Positive thing was international calls worked.
How do you purchase this back to school prepaid?
Does anyone know if you purchase two of these in one transaction, will you get 10,000 flybuys points?
Can only be redeemed once per flybuys account
Cheers!
So no-one else gets caught out like I did, be aware that Coles Mobile do not have Visual Voicemail, if that's something you like to use.
Bought the recharge voucher yesterday. Expires December 2024. Not bad if your plan is expiring in the next 11 months
My exist $120/60GB plan is expiring soon. I have chatted with Coles mobile, he said I should still be able to get the $120 recharge voucher from Coles. Has anyone able to get it with 20% off as on their ads only has $20, $150 & $200.
I got my $150 recharge voucher for $120 from Coles last week. The $120 recharge voucher and the $150 recharge voucher were both $120, so no brainer to buy the $150 recharge voucher.
Can this stack with the $50 per week for 4 weeks spend at Coles that earns 10,000 Flybuys points?
I'd say yes since mobile stuff not excluded in $50/week promo's terms:
"$50 or more must be spent in one transaction, after all savings, discounts and vouchers each week for 4 consecutive weeks. $50 transaction excludes purchases of all gift cards, iTunes cards, charity items/donations, tobacco and tobacco-related products, Coles Best Buys online exclusive products and online delivery fees".
You can test it for us and report back :D
I read the same. Yes will do. Many thanks.
Yes
Yes the $125 mobile voucher is recognised as over $50 spent. So it stacked today as I tried.
Is this available online or in store only? I can't see anything about sim cards at all on the website (other than in the catalogue)
I purchased this sim pack yesterday. It's available in store only.
You only needed to purchase the sim pack to receive the bonus Flybys yes? ie. not any other products from Coles?
Yes, correct. I got my 5k points buying the sim pack only.
@joomon: Thanks. Did you have to activate the sim to get the points?
@dockersrule: No, got the points on 24th Jan. I activated my simcard last night and ported successfully today at 10am. I am suprised Coles mobile porting hours aren't active on Sundays but I ported so quick over from Boost today.
@joomon: I bought the simcard today, alongside other groceries, and scanned my Flybys card. I also used $10 off with some existing Flyby dollars.
No extra points yet.
@dockersrule: I think give it a few days and it will show up. I don't the groceries affected the points.
@joomon: Thanks mate. All good. Points came through today.
Is the port process (on Amaysim pay as you go ATM) easy with Coles mobile?
Still no points after doing the deal yesterday.
I did redeem 2000 points to get $10 my groceries, that I bought with the sim card. Would that affect getting the bonus 5k points?
It shouldn’t. Please wait for a day or two the bonus points should turn up.
Thanks mate. Points came through yesterday arvo.

Lets do some quick math. This plan is effective $110/year (after 5k FB point rebate), that's $9.16 per month. If you were to spend just $91.60 in a single Coles shop, you effectively are getting the phone plan for free. Spend $150 in a shop, and they are losing money. Coles and Amaysim are the only two providers I know of that offer international calls on a similarly priced plan ($120-150 per year).
