Why not MPV or VLC that are always free and open source?

    • +1

      Just an alternative I guess.

      • +8

Is it actually good/a bargain? Because there’s lots of websites that track when apps go free automatically. I think most people on Ozbargain are looking for good free apps that people are recommending.

    • VLC doesn't do what I need it to do.

      • and what might that be?

        • -1

VLC doesn't have fine manual control zoom. Only a few fixed sizes. Eg. Aspect ratio, fill screen, fit to screen.

          His taxes?

          • @Thisisananagram: If it aint making a sandwich or getting the popcorn and drinks ready for the movie he is about to watch. Why bother.

    NOVA Video Player

you'll never look back. Use MediaElch (or alternative) to get metadata + rename files. Then add LAN library on android device, or transfer to android devices SD card. Welcome to your own personal mini-netflix.

Or just use as a regular video player.

Free and open source, i believe. available on fdroid.
(VLC will also do the job, I guess, and is also free)

    • Thanks will give it a go!

Just found this myself a few days ago. Works a lot better for AV1 content on my 4K Fire TV Stick than VLC does. Also plays files from an SMB share. It has replaced VLC for me.

  • Does this contain a codec that will allow me to plug my phone into my TV? This is a feature that newer Samsung phones cannot do.

Can't you just use a HDMI to USBC cable?

Before 30 days if the price goes back to $11.99, can you get back that amount if we refund? That would be the real deal.

Downloaded it, seems alright. Has a built in MP3 converter which would of been useful 10 years ago.

Also the typo/broken english in the "Mp3 Converter" section kinda annoys me

MX Player Pro is the best

    • If you've bought MX Player Pro, fair enough. If not, check out FOSS alternatives on FDroid. They're pretty darn good nowadays - no point having programs from suspicious origins when you can just use FOSS alternatives which are literally just as good.

Looked at this but "this app may share data with third parties" so gave it a miss. Will stay with Kodi and MX player pro

  • Mine says not free and begs for money
