Got mine for $450 with battery box directly from them like 2 weeks ago

    • What colour top does the battery have? Black or Blue?

      • Black case blue top why?
Says 120Ah lithium battery on it

        • +1

The blue top have the prismatic cells inside them and the black tops have the pouch cells. I'm just curious as to whether they are still selling the pouch cell model.

    • That battery box looks pretty good, might keep an eye on them. Thanks.

Domt lithium batteries start fires, or is that only when they are in ebikes?

    • +2

This is lithium iron phosphate which is a lot less volatile.

      • -6

        Thats what ebikes have

        • +3

Most e-bikes have lithium ion batteries not lithium iron phosphate. Ion is better for power hungry devices like bike motors, but can overheat and catch fire compared. Lifepo4 is much safer as it's a different battery chemistry that isn't as volatile.

          • -4

@jazzyman9182: And some have the same chemistry as this.

It depends on the bike, of course not all have the same tech, no one is saying they do.. are you just being argumentative?

    • Domt lithium batteries start fires, or is that only when they are in ebikes?

Lithium batteries only catch fire if they have been damaged, poorly-manufactured, or incorrectly charged. The proliferation of cheap generic or rebadged ebikes with poorly-designed chargers and generic batteries in an environment prone to damage is why you keep hearing about them.

There are far more phones, laptops, and power tools in the world compared to ebikes. Yet you hear more about ebike fires than the others. It's not the battery technology that's the problem, it's the poor implementation that's the problem.

LFP batteries like this are also safer than lithium ion and lipo batteries commonly used in cheap ebikes.

  • These were 399 at boxing day, with no adons.
Then 420 ish with the 6m Anderson extension recently too.

I think 400 is their new ultra low point for this.

I own one, I paid 480, I was happy then, I'm happy now.

The over charge protection is annoying and will stop my solar controller, so I have to run it at different settings. But works fine once you find the trip point.

  • I've had one of these for about 6 months now and think they're great value for money, have had zero problems with mine in my canopy being charged by Solar + DC/DC from alternator, runs my fridge 24/7 and other accessories when we're camping, can easily get 3 days out of the fridge (It's a brass monkey and not super efficient)

    • Good to hear. Has anyone own these longer than a year or two? I would like to know how reliable they are.

I ended up getting one from BigWei battery up in QLD and it's been going good so far, but they are almost double the price.

What's the BMS and max continuous output amperage like on these?

  • Do u guys know if there’s a big difference between car branded battery and something like varta from a battery shop?

    • This is for running a second battery fridge 12 volt systems. I wouldnt use it to start a car.

I have mine in the back with a hardkorr battery box to keep a fridge running. You can buy a lithium AC battery charger from supercheap Noco brand $150 roughly charge the battery up have 3-4 days of use 24/7

  • I got mine for 399 no adons with cash rewards brings it down to 370 etc

    • $375 today

      • 399 + 8% cash rewards was when i got it $367.08 had me worried there for a second that i had to hand back my ozbargin rewards card

  • Only 2000 cycles.
I am not expert on this topic but the last time I researched I remember that the higher the number of cycles the more life the battery has. I bought a Renology battery instead for my battery box. Renology had 5000 cycles.

    • +7

At 2000+ cyles, if you cycled it flat to full EVERY day it would last you 5.47 years. The average punter is going to fully cycle the battery like lets say MAX 100 times a year. Thats 20 years to ratein like 80% of its cycle life. It's a moot point and and if people want to overpay for batteries good on them. This battery will serve its purpose for years!

  • -4

They're sealed. Let it go flat and either throw it away or get the dremel out.

    • +2

      Yeah, that's incorrect

The thing with the 4WD Supa Centre is that its always on sale. You have to check the site daily to find the true bargains and its usually when they bundle stuff together.
Knowing when they're getting supply / pallets delivered also helps as they normally discount the moment they have a lot of stock.

  • Guys, complete noob here, so probably a stupid question, but what is the difference between this and power stations from Bluetti or Ecoflow?

    • +1

A power station is a battery plus a battery charger, power inverter (to get 230V), USB sockets, cigarette lighter sockets, and a battery management system that talks to your phone or displays info on a screen.

A battery like this is just the battery without all the other stuff above. If you just want to run a 12V camping fridge, this is a more economical way to do it. You'll have to add the bits you need though, e.g. a charger, battery box, etc.

  • +2

About $375 + shipping today, lol.. always a gamble with kings

    • Bought the one with the battery box at like 11pm last night for 470, this morning it's 426.. Wonder if they'll refund me the difference in store

      • They should, cancel your order if they don't

  • OP should un-expire and update the deal with the new $375 price.

  • What would be great is they could list the internal cell construction spec..
    Is it 1P4S? or 2P4S?
The Jaycar 120Ah is 4S4P, which means it has 4 cells in parallel and grouped by 4 in serial… This means it is generally a higher quality battery since there is more cells grouped together.
Cheaper 12v Lithium LiFePO4 batteries are just 4 cells linked together in serial and NONE parallel… You might like the idea of the simplicity of that internal design but they are ALWAYS cheaper, sometimes 2-3 times cheaper..
I want to see Lithium LiFePO4 batteries with MORE cells grouped in parallel, I guess that is the reason why you see the expensive ones with more cells in P.
