TASTING NOTES
Pabst Blue Ribbon is brewed in the finest traditions of an American Premium Lager dating back to 1844. Brewed with a combination of 2 & 6-row malted barley, select cereal grains and American and European hops, Pabst Blue Ribbon is fermented with a proprietary lager yeast. Their unique fermentation and maturation process results in a smooth, full bodied beer with a clean, crisp finish with a fine noble hop aroma.

Thats 55 too much for piss in a can

    • When I was a poverty-stricken backpacker in the US, that Milwaukee piss was all we could afford.

Note the ingredients. Real beer is made from barley, not "select cereal grains". I think it tasted like rice.

      • I mean….rice lager can be delicious. But they come from Japan and not the USA

      • Some of the most delicious beers in the world are made from rice…Kirin Ichiban, Asahi Superdry, Beer Lao, Beer Chang etc etc

        • I love many things Japanese. But lets just say the world buys 20 German beers, and even more Dutch and Belgian, for every one Japanese beer exported. It is a very niche market.

          • @bargaino: Couldn't say, but that doesn't relate to or detract from the fact that rice beers are delicious & refreshing in hot and humid climates, so perfect for Eastern Australia.

    Free headache with every can.

If you'd said free gravy-stained wifebeater we might have a deal. Although most people who drink this bring their own anyway.

"I'm white trash and I'm in trouble"

  • Anyone know the $15 off welcome code?

  • ooof. that's too close to best before for my liking.
Good if you're having a party for aussie day, i guess

Yep, read before you buy. Patchy track record.

    • +1

Ugh, wish I saw this before ordering.

Is there a threshold for posting deals if a vendor is this shoddy?

      • +5

Try and cancel. These guys seriously don't deserve your money. They don't respond to difficult emails or real problems or give straight honest answers. They won't get another cent from me. Surprised they are bold enough to post another deal on here.

        • Yeah I've tried, see what happens.

          • @dekekun: Even so found requesting that
to only use Austpost (not Aramex, etc)
was picked up by dispatch date in another offer and delivered in 3 (+/- days).

many oz-advertising posters just believe any publicity is good publicity

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Waiting for the inevitable bullshit "Big thanks to everyone on OzBargain!!! We sold out in record time!" before closing the deal and then someone finding out they still have plenty of stock…

    • Probably wouldn't hurt to read this as well.

      3 slabs

Yo I would 100% be kicking up more stink if shelled out for 3 slabs and its undrinkable trash.

  • +7

This is shit even by American standards

  • -1

You really couldn't pay me to drink this stuff…

Well you could, but it would be a lot.

  • -1

I'd rather have a West End 30 pack for about the same price as this. Nothing beats a 'dirty thirty' on a hot day. Cheers!

  • +4

I'm voting negative as this doesn't feel like much of a deal. Inline with what other comments have said, you can get better beer with a longer date for similar price.

Also I got caught out on the previous 'presale' posts. It's a nonsense option as it involved multiple suppliers and a long delivery time.

  • +4

To counter the snobby remarks above, I personally like PBR and drink it a lot when in the US. It's nothing special - just, in my opinion obviously, a nice tasting generic mass-produced lager. If you're into specially brewed craft beers then it obviously isn't for you, and I'd have no idea what would make you think it was in the first place (the name of the store aside!).

I don't know where the wifebeater/white trash comments come from as it's known for being more of a college/hipster brand, and I can't say it's ever given me a headache (or that I've heard anyone else say that). I guess beer snobs are now well and truly more insufferable than their wine counterparts!

That being said, I'd personally just buy non-short dated Australian mass-produced generic lager at a similar price to this deal instead.

Not everyone here gets a raw deal. My 2 x cartons of Maisel's were delivered (Adelaide) within a week of the 29th Dec - the date that was mentioned to be dispatched.

  • +3

WARNING: This retailer cannot be trusted. They do not respond to emails, and dispatch dates are often not kept. Purchase at your own risk

    • Found reply to email same business day.

Yet during day telephone number goes to answering machine.

  • How is this business still posting "deals" here?

    • +2

Per https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:faq_merchants a possible store ban can happen if "Your store has received too many negative votes from bargains posted over the last 30 days.". Per https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:store_representative?… "The system will ban a store if: 1. The 2 latest rep posts (excluding those posted before the last performance ban) are 60 days or less apart, and 2. The vote average for the store's rep posts over the last 90 days is less than or equal to 1 In the past 30 days". 3 of the 4 past deals have had negative votes, for a total of 11. Positive votes are 22. Rep stats are currently Total: 6, Average: 1.2/week,Votes: 6.2 (Average).

I encourage people to revoke positive votes if applicable, and call out their historic behaviour if they continue posting "deals".

      • This really needs to happen more, too many times there are commenters who experience bad service/products…and comment to say something in the new post..but dont neg to highlight issues with stores.

  • For prompt delivery in 3 days (+/-)
    request delivery
    is via Austpost instead.

As found preferable to other couriers.

    • Problem is beer isn't getting out of the door anywhere close to when they say. So before delivery woes come into the frame.

      • Found successfully dispatched (via Austpost as requested)
        and by dispatch date (dd//mm//yy)
        for other offer advertised.

        • You're one of the lucky ones. :)

          • @Gav: If delivery is only via Austpost
            - unlike seems if Aramex among other couriers.

(Also, where order request use only Austpost in comments/notes field, plus email with seller day or two before dispatch date to use Austpost).

  • +1

negging to highlight previous issues as highlighted in above and former threads.

  • Found as mentioned above,
request delivery is only via Austpost.

  • +2

Beware: previous deal from these guys said shipping was December 11th….actually shipped January 4th.

  • If use another Courier -
apart from only requesting use Austpost
    as mentioned above -
    that the collect date
when picked up/shipped may be days or even weeks delayed after dispatch date; therefore requesting use Austpost instead to ship.

  • +1

Yikes, beer that could be well past its used by date before it even gets to your door step… That's a big "no thanks" form me. Negging based on the experience of others with regards to shipping dates. (and this just sounds like a dropshitter to me. Wait till they get enough orders to meet the bulk buy limit and then submit…)

Pabst Blue Ribbon is brewed in the finest traditions of an American Premium Lager dating back to 1844.

So, it is basically water mixed with a tiny hint of piss then?

  • +1

I’m going to have to neg due to bad service and also the lack of the op’s response to members beef with craft cartel

  • In spite of the fact,
did not answer phone during day, in another offer, still:

    • Replied to email in same business day;
    • Importantly shipped by dispatch date (request to only use Austpost); and
    • Delivered in 3 (+/-) days.
  • +1

Overpriced, watered down Seppo cat piss that's close to expiry date is not a deal, especially when it's coming from these bozos.

  • +1

Not a reliable seller as per previous deal comments.

  • Unless as found mentioned here
when buy to request only use Austpost
(to avoid issues with Aramex and other couriers); as Craft Cartel dispatched on time — and delivered in 3 (+/-) days.

  • +1

    No deal, please move along…

  • +1

    Whilst seems from cursory search
elsewhere other sellers that have available/if in stock are offering generally for $80 approx.

Despite use by date is short seems can last in fridge for up to 12 months (+/-).

And will test beer delivered on time in other Craft Cartel offer will last beyond by then, too. What consumed so far has been good, delicious beer.

Note another seller has $57.00 for
Pabst Blue Ribbon Lager Cans 330ml - Pack of 24
    (https://www.liquorkart.com.au/pabst-blue-ribbon-lager-cans-3…?)
but reviews ( https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/liquorkart-austral…) seem unwelcoming.
