Think it's worth the 24 bucks for the upgrade though.
Bi-amped speakers, aptX Bluetooth and subwoofer output. You do lose digital inputs. I hear the old remotes are junk too compared to the newer version.
I picked up a pair of the 1280DB last week for $40 second hand. Not complaining for that price, but I find the bass way too boomy and not enough top end. I ended up plugging the bass ports and upping the bass dial a touch and happier with them like that.

Does anyone own these? Some reviews say dialogue is muddy. I would be using these for TV and sometimes music.
I own these and they are fantastic for music, especially for the price. I haven't tried for TV. I'll hook up to my TV today and let you know how they go.
I think it then begs the question: what kind of music?
+1 for quality of sound for music, but also haven't used for TV.
Hooked up to the TV. Significantly better than the TV speakers. I'd be happy but sound is so personal. Apologies, the deal has ended but for future reference I think these are a good TV option.
Thank you for doing that, you're really kind. Nevermind about the deal expiring, I think they go on special fairly regularly and it gives me more time to procrastinate (my favourite hobby).
