  • The Lenovo in the same spec is the same price BUT has 32gb ram.

    • Can you please share the link?

If you're not upgrading to the 4080, you can consider the Legion 7i Slim.

The 4070 caps out at 100W so thermals aren't a problem.

          Why the slim?
          - better specs (1tb SSD, 32gb ram) as above possible
          - Fingerprint reader
          - Per key RGB
          - SD card reader
          - smaller power brick
          - lighter
          - slimmer
          - higher resolution screen (can be downside for some)
After cashback through Lenovo I got the Slim for $2750.

Upgrade to i9 CPU will upgrade to 4070 automatically.
          Upgrade to 32gb Ram

Price was $3,086 when I bought, need to check current deals.
Wait for a cashback offer around 15% and your around the same price as this deal.

        • Looks decent

I bought the Legion Pro 7i for a lower price that the ROG, albeit the pro 7 had similar specs as the pro 5 but with better battery, extra m2 slot and per-key rgb

So technically youre trading off a slightly less CPU for more ram.

        • Double Ram and double SSD storage (1TB)

        • Lenovo keyboard has magic too.

          Double Ram and double SSD.
You may argue that Rams and SSD can be upgraded later but not CPU.
However, I dont think u will benefit much by the CPU ( just some frames).
The Rams and SSd are just much better. Not to mention the Rams on Lenovo is 5600MHZ and the rams on ASUS is 4800MHZ

    • BUT this has 3 fans and beefed up cooling. RAM is upgradable Fan is not

  • So Legion still better than ROG Strix for this spec?

    • For me yup, the number pad keyboard also way better in my case but some hate them

in this case not really, its not remotely as clear cut as some comments here make it out to be

Strix have the far better cooling & thermal headroom - 175w 4090 no probs in this chassis. its only second to the legion 7 pro, it also means that H55 cpu can have a better time here (so not just the slightly better bin), you are also getting 100% p3, where the legion is only 100% srgb, which may matter to some. Strix also have ever so slighter better speakers, touchpad and the rgb (which, admittedly, maybe a turn off for some)

For those wondering like I did, a laptop RTX 4070 performs around the level of a desktop RTX 3070 but with added benefits of DLSS 3.0 & 3.5 (I think).

  • Someone can suggests me ASUS Vivobook Pro Laptop i7 16GB/1TB RTX 4050 is it good enough configuration for data analysis or coding or for computer science university student.

    thank you
