    $1000 off!

FFS just tell us the price

    • 2000 AUD

  • Fine. Dolphin are always $1000 over priced.

  • The way I read it, the price seems to be $200. Is this good value?

  • Wow. I used to clean my mum's pool each week, took about 30 mins total whilst in the sunshine. Started with a pole tool that used garden hose water to push large leaves/debris into a net. Waited a few minutes for things to settle & then used the vac head. The tools lasted for over a decade. I'm so old- lol.

  • @MaytronicsAus - There is a trade-in deal at the moment for $200 off the s200. Can that be used with this deal through an Elite dealer?

    • +1

Unfortunately not, this is an online exclusive deal.

  • Is there much difference between this one and M400? Which one is better? The M400 is cheaper than this one.

    • Where are you seeing the M400 for less than $2k? From what I can tell, that would be a better choice!

      • The M400 is RRP $2699 so is not cheaper than the bundle offer. https://mydolphin.com.au/product/dolphin-m-400/
The S200 is a fantastic performance robot with the ability to clean the floor, walls and waterline with ease. Complete with a caddy and caddy cover too!

        • My current robot sits in the pool shed, so I have no need for the caddy and cover. The M400 for under $2k would be a better choice for my particular needs (the ability to manually control the cleaner being the big plus for me).

What is the profit margins on these? Must be huge

    • Every swimming pool product has good margins.. these however do not since the retailers do not have much margins… the Dolphins have been great but now the cordless Chinese units are coming in .. the Dolphins are constructed very well … 2k is too much though and 3k is a joke .. for me that is .. Id rather buy a dolphin used or a Chinese unit for the same price as a used Dolphin.. 3 grand RRP and 2 grand discounted is pretty high for a zero smarts .. my current 200 still going strong but it goes where it wants ..the navigation is just meh

      • Do you have any recommendations for a cordless chinese unit? Been looking at Aiper ones but I have no idea really.

        • No sorry never used one ..cannot speak for or against ..they have been around for a while though.. see the online reviews and judge for yourself

      • Just to add in a few comments around the 'Chinese' models. Believe me we have tried and tested all units available on the European and US markets and they nowhere near perform as good a Dolphin. You may say, well you guys would say that.. but having 40 odd years in innovation and technology around what works in Aussie pools, does make a massive difference. Also think about support and aftersales. Maytronics have an extensive dealer network of independent (yes, support local) dealers together with all the core franchise groups. If something does go wrong, we are hear to help in Australia and not through a faceless email based in China. We realise there are of course customer price points, but the old saying is - buy cheap, buy twice and this rings true.

That maybe so but the Aiper just won an award in CES where Maytronics had no representation.. this is an old post which is being replied to now.. but the RRP on Dolphins has become a joke … and a pool has nothing to do with Aussie conditions which vary vastly across States so that is no justification specially since the units are not Aussie made they are still made in China.. There is no doubt that the Dolphins are built to last which actually makes local support pointless but unless Maytronics catch up in terms of product offerings they will go the same way Kodak did when digital cameras came out.. There was a time when choices were limited for consumers in terms of robotic pool cleaners that time has gone.. for Maytronics units either the price point has to come lower or the tech has to come higher ..Once my 200 dies I shall be looking at units that navigate better and can detect debris and can return to the point where they were launched and can pick up fine particles and lasts a while.. happy to pay the RRP IF a unit provides that otherwise why pay more when the warranty is the same and the unit has higher suction but does not pick up debris since it has no smarts

@shaidas: I don’t disagree that the prices on maytronics is an absolute joke. But having just gone through both the smorobot tank (2 of them because they both died within 6 months and eventually just asked for a refund), and an aiper seagull pro that I had for 3 days because it was utter trash; I can safely say the maytronics at least do the job for the money. I did not remotely want to spend $2k on a robot, but after 3 robots that were poorly made and or didn’t do the job, I’m glad to have an s200 now. It is doing a great job.

@dwhes: Well, your comment has convinced me to lay down $2K of hard cold cash. My S150 is dead after nearly 4 years, so let's hope this one lasts a little longer :) I nearly Amazon'ed it as the same special is on there, but too hard to get the 1.75% or 2% cashback right now. I couldn't work out how to get 2K of cards through CashBack and ShopBack anyway (looks like $500 + $300 max). Shame the credit card shop rebates seem to have ended.

For Op, I've even chosen to do my credit card rather than GPAY so Maytronics gets the extra 0.24% or whatever payment gateway rates they have signed up for….. I wish shops were just honest with the preferred method of payment so I could see how much in fees they are losing….

Anyway, thanks for the push over the line to avoid the cheaper alternatives. My Maytronics Elite reseller in SA will be pissed I went the online special :)

              • @3LollipopZ: Well I have never used any other robotic pool vaccum so I cannot comment on the cleaners that you have tested including the Aiper but when my S200 dies I shall be looking at options.. good to know the cheaper units did not work for you I have never seen a comment on here from an actual Aiper buyer..a lot of adverts ..maybe they will iron out their issues or maybe Maytronics will upgrade their tech .. either ways I for one refuse to pay 3 k for a robotic pool cleaner which cannot detect debris or return to the launch point..if It can do that very happy to pay the RRP, reliability is good, something that actually works is better .. compared to the floor cleaning solutions available nowadays the Dolphin is like a blind ape.. powerful but not effective since it goes around randomly .. Lidar will not work under water so if Aiper or the likes do not come through I shall buy a used Maytronic unit till they do or till Maytronics becomes realistic with pricing ..The Dolphins are built to last that is for sure but tech has advanced a lot since they released the Dolphin.. barring a few minor differences the base unit is still the same

                • @shaidas: I don’t disagree that there is plenty of tech in these newer robot brands. But I can promise you the navigation in the seagull pro at least was no better. Just as random and ended up in a different finish spot as well. And at the end of the day, what matters is how good it is at cleaning the pool. The smorobot and aiper were both terrible at it in comparison to the s200. Others experience may vary and the upcoming aiper robots might be improved, but I would recommend waiting for extensive reviews from people who haven’t been given the robots for free. Most reviews online for the aipers they’ve been given the robots for free.

              • @3LollipopZ: Oops sorry bud.. I was replying to @dwhes not you

              • @3LollipopZ: Happy to have helped! I definitely have no allegiance to maytronics or anything to gain from it. But if I can save someone else wasting a heck of a lot of time and frustration, than I’m glad to help. Maybe the new aiper bots will be better but I definitely can not recommend the seagull pro to anyone. Just doesn’t have enough suction and don’t pick up anywhere near enough litter.

  • -1

Don’t have a pool, thanks anyway.

  • Maytronics, are you able to tell me what size the filters are on this I can only see "fine and ultrafine".

    Thanks!

  • How does this compare to an X40 plus?

  • If spending $2k is the best option out there? I’m about to return the Aiper seagull pro cordless because it just isn’t remotely up to par. Would not recommend them at all. Didn’t want to spend this sort of money, but seems I’m going to need to.

This dolphin is also on sale for $1999 https://mydolphin.com.au/product/dolphin-swash-tcx/ no idea which is better of the 2. The swash doesn’t come with a caddy etc so perhaps it’s the better cleaner of the 2.

And then Clark rubber also has maytronics on sale. Like this RC-4800 for $1899 https://www.clarkrubber.com.au/products/43464-filtrite-rc-48… no idea how it compares to the above 2. Impossible to compare all these robots. Despite all being maytronics.

    • My previous robot (Zodiac VX-40) is still working, 8 years later. I haven't replaced any parts the entire time. The filter basket was definitely overdue for replacing and the brushes could have done with replacing too, but I decided to grab this Dolphin deal, as I'm guessing the Zodiac will need more parts replacing soon enough.

So far, the Dolphin has been amazing, especially with the waterline cleaning. The caddy is actually more handy than I thought it would be. I'd recommend it.

The only negatives I've noticed with this Dolphin is:

      1. No setting to tell it to only clean the floor or walls (my previous one had this and it was handy)
      2. No setting to get it to come out of the pool. The Zodiac had a button that you press and it would climb up to the top of the wall and wait for you to grab it and pull it out. So convenient.
      3. Filter is harder to clean out as it has little gaps in the corners that seed pods / small items get stuck in. Easy enough to get them out, but takes more effort to clean than the Zodiac.

The Clark Rubber one looks the same as the S200, so I'm guessing it's the same just coloured differently to make it an exclusive for Clark Rubber.

      • Thanks for your comments. Very helpful. Honestly I don’t really need the caddy as I’ll be storing it in a pool storage bin anyway when out of the pool. So I’m thinking I go the Clark rubber one and save $100.

        • +1

I'm only guessing they are the same. Hopefully someone else knows for certain and will comment.

Mine sits in the pool shed too, so I didn't want the caddy, but now that I have it, I am actually using it.

The power cord on the Dolphin control box is quite short, so it's nice to be able to wheel it closer to the powerpoint. Not a huge deal, and you won't be missing out if you'd prefer to save $100.

  • FYI, these things work well, until they break. I am about to throw away one that is 2.5 years old. It required the motor replaced after 4 months (under warranty) and now I have been quoted over $800 (incl. labour) for a second motor replacement just over 2 years later. These things have known longevity issues (https://pooladvisor.com.au/blog/dolphin-s200-review). They still get good reviews as they work well, just don't expect it to be a long-term investment.

  • Is this model superseded by the S 250?
