Liteon 256GB LZT-256M3S SATA-3 SSD $159 + Shipping ($12 to Syd) or Pickup QLD

100

Was hunting for an alternative to the shopping express Samsung 830 deal. I dont have a sata 3 mobo so cant really utilise it and need something more reliable than the Toshiba 512 ssd for $279 from here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/80775#comment-1041752
I couldnt find any decent reviews for that drive and simply being used by apple means jack all to me cause apple products fail all the time

Anyway just checked Gamedude's page and i think they dropped the price of their Liteon by another $10 to $159 + shipping

Shipping was $12 to syd for me, you can also pickup

This is cheaper than Mwave's plextor m5s at about $174.99 + delivery or scorptec's supposedly msata version which is $169+delivery

You need to enter address and submit the form for an "obligation free" quote

This is the 256m3s so i assume its the proper one and not the mSata drive version? how does it perform against the Plextor m5s?

  • i havent click the submit button to buy yet
really cant get over how cheap that Toshiba ssd is!

  • Western Digital 2TB WD20EARX SATA3 64meg GREEN POWER HOT DEAL! for $89 seems really good.

    • Buy 1 WD 2TB HardDrive for $89 when you spend OVER $300 or more (Special HDD Price not counted towards $300 Value) on one invoice for a limited time ONLY!

      :(

    • what am i missing here i thought $89-99 was standard for 2tb or is it because it is sata 3?

      • What I could find is between $99 to $109

do people still buy stuff from gamedude?

    • i dont even know who they are, just got mentioned a few times on ozb

  • Is this the one with an msata with sata convertor inside? Would be useful for my asus zenbook ux31e ssd replacement.

    • not sure but the scorptec deal was confirmed to be that one, about $11 more

    • i think all the m3s ssd's are just msata converts. Ive bought the scorptech 256gb one and 128 from another vendor (deal on ozb aswell) and they both had msata in them

      • is msata slower?

OCZ Agility 240GB is available at MSY for a few dollars more for those who are interstate and have one nearby. Saves waiting on delivery…
    http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9355

    • It's the budget line from OCZ though. Lower performance then the liteon and the company has a worse reputation for reliability.

      • And OCZ looks set to disintegrate for fiddling the books. Ie: No warranty.

id rather blindly throw my money at the toshiba without a thought than buy ocz
agility aint known for its reliability

    wrong specs
    too suspicious

    no trust - no deal

  • You can buy a Pcie to sata3 card from ebay for 10 bucks that's what's my ssd is connected to.

    • why would you do that instead of using native ports? you're losing functionality doing that ie. no trim

  • No practical difference between sata2 and sata3 anyway. Would have gone the samsung 830 myself due to reliability. This is cheap price per gb but reliability is the most important thing.
