  • Looking to buy one of the deals today. How do we get a cheap windows license? What are the pros and cons? Thanks.

    • +1

i've always bought grey market windows keys. there's a million different places, I've used a few but lately have been going to gamers-outlet. A windows 11 key there will cost you about 5 pounds ($10 AUD or so). I've had one key that didn't work (out of maybe 6?), and a quick email to support and they had sent a new one within minutes. https://www.gamers-outlet.net/en/buy-windows-11-pro-cd-key-o…

        Replied to save this :D

the pro's are - it's way way cheaper. the cons are that there's a chance one day it could be deactivated (but this in my opinion and experience is very unlikely)

    • Most sites will sell you an OEM or a MAK volume key instead of a retail key. You're not supposed to use these, but Microsoft don't care if an individual uses them and the only real risk is that Microsoft may deactivate them. The other risk is that the key may already be used and won't activate.

KMS keys are the ones I'd try to avoid because the 'Key Management Service' is intended for organisations to activate computers in their own network and they'll be able to see information about your computer.

      Just use MAS.

Cheap Windows keys are not legitimate retailer copies and Microsoft doesn’t get a cent from the sale.

      • +1

It does Office activation as well :-)

      • I assume since this is open source there is 0 risk of using it?

        • +1

Yes. This repo have nearly 59k stars - think that of as upvotes on ozb.

Even if somehow your AV catches it, its a false positive.

  • can I add my own secondary ssd to this build

    • Yes, no problem with that!

    • +1

Hey legend, I think you might be mixing up a 4070 rig with a 4070 Ti one :D. Wi-Fi dongle or motherboard is available on our builder as well.

We have a 4070 system with the same CPU for $1398 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/820452

      • Oops, mobile view parsed the Ti onto the next line, thanks for picking that up

        • :D

  • +1

Damn I just bought the 1800 , 4070ti deal 3 days ago should’ve waited, but I’m pretty sure the one I bought has better specs

    • +1

Yep your one is on the newer platform!

  • Anyone know if nebula has unlisted parts? I want a peerless assassin cooler but it's not listed on the site so I don't know

    • Closest would be our AK620, otherwise you can install the Peerless Assassin cooler yourself if you'd like :).

      • I don't even see the 620 on the site. Just the 4 and 500s and the noctuas

        • Oh, I didn't add it to this system because of how big it is. We can do it for you if you'd like, what do you prefer?

          • @Nebula PC: How much is the 620? I saw on another build it was base and the ak500 digital was a $50 upgrade but that leaves me floundering on how much the 620 would cost itself

            • @Swansong32gb: From the stock AMD cooler, it'd be $119.

              • @Nebula PC: Expensive compared to thermalright. If I put in my own CPU cooler does that invalidate the warranty for the entire system or just the cooler? Like if the GPU fails from a faulty batch or something cause I swapped the CPU cooler would the warranty still be valid?

                • @Swansong32gb: You're free to do whatever you'd like to the system as long as there's no user-induced damage. It won't void warranty, best you purchase the Thermalright cooler and install yourself for best price :).
